Seeing this show with all the beautiful timeless clothes makes me pine for the era when art in fashion was not tainted by commerce as much as it is today. YSL is gone, his couture house is gone, even gorgeous model Katoucha Niane is dead. It makes you appreciate all this so much more...
I know he died before this video, but they honored his memory with all these gorgeous black women. That's the way he cast his runway shows, and I love him for it.
YSL: "I bought the two chinese relics because they complement the color of my gold-plated bidet in the guest room of my chateau. The set is a fine addition, and I feel protected. It is still of little consolation for the many millions I lost over the years to the Chinese counterfeiting of my products."
YSL can say alot more than most fashion designers. Even though I still dont here to much about him. I shop at abercrombie so what the fuck do I know. But I do have a louis vuitton wallet if that means anything......
what can i say? he's the designer, the master, who made me fall in love with fashion. i revere chanel, yamamoto, kawakubo and dior, but for sheer innovation, brilliance, diversity and artistry, i say he's the fashion genius of the 20th century. monsieur saint laurent, you will never be equalled. you are the picasso of haute couture. your gift of beauty, style and elegance will long live on.
I DAMN NEAR cried at the end, when they were walking back up the runway to "Nessun Dorma"!
That's how you go out!!:)

On HBO, there's a fascinating doc about Roman Polanski's case, "Roman Planski:Wanted & desired".
Long live the KING!!! No one did it better than Yves Saint Laurent, the clothes, the drama, the models he selected. He was so rich in the history and culture of fashion, his presence was so missed when he stopped designing altogether, but he had created such a rich legacy that he will never be forgotten. He will most certainly be missed, but his designs will live on forever. God Bless you Mr. Yves Saint Laurent
These clips (See Part two of this series as well if you have not already done so) showcase Yves Saint Laurent's designs at their most glorious. The beauty, creativity, elegance, austerity, power, seduction and rigor of line are in full evidence in this 'Best-of' retrospective fashion show. Yves Saint Laurent is truly the master... the KING... his legacy will live on in the Pantheon of Fashion forever. Long Live Saint Laurent!

Yves Saint Laurent knows the "secret" of Haute Couture!!!!!!!!
If Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington were on the runway, it would create a grand entrance!!

He was very much alive for this show. Catherine & Bianca Jagger bring him out at the end of Part 4.
