i have absolutely no idea whats going on, but i still watched these 12 videos...
maybe it will take a few days to sink in, then i will suddenly wake up mid-sleep one night and create one of these controllers from scratch, just using bits of old lego and a circuit board from an old toy keyboard.
Hi, nice videos, cool project. I was looking into the Axis controller and came across your BPschaled one. Always interested in the sound of alternate tuning (Gamelan). Now the BP does sound dramatic!
We're having a little conversation about Buchla Modulars at Gearslutz forum (electronic music forum) alternative controllers (naturally) and tuning came up. Maybe you'd like to add some knowledge to that? Could be interesting.. I couldn't add a URL in this post. (easy to find though) Cheers, Reptil
Wow, that's amazing. Usually people with perfect pitch, who have been trained for 12 tone (as in.. all of them) have an aversion to micro/macrotonal tunings. Thanks for your input!!
I'm really finding the Bohlen-Pierce scale difficult. It can be very dramatic, but I don't think it can be simple and pretty like the pythagorean scale. And everyone I play music in it too seems to associate it with horror music! *sigh*
It's good that there are more microtonal fanatics out there, though. I used to think I was the only one who ever wondered why there were only 12 notes on the guitar. I watched all your vids, keep up the good work.
Play "Love Song" for your friends. It takes a lot of patience, but it's definitely possible to write BP Music that doesn't sound like horror music. It's true, playing random BP notes does sound like some kind of sci-fi-horror music. :)
Hardly anyone is familiar enough with BP to just whip something up (including myself) so it really takes some trial and error, but I'm convinced that BP has enough harmonic content to make very non-trivial music and non-horror music.
So let me get this right. You're an intellectual atheist interested in alternate music instruments and microtonality who is also devastatingly cute?! Can you say "dream girl"? If I weren't married already I'd have to stalk you... kidding! Thanks for being you.
