he eats a lot of my weeds that is his main diet. I only give him 2 or 3 heads of romain a week only fruit once in awhile. He also has full roam of my backyard. Real sunlight is the best thing for there shell because they grow so fast. He is about 12 years old.

what did you use as lighting for your Sulcata? I have been told it is the lighting that makes the pyramid build upon his shell, and not the diet. Any input?

This tourtise is really well mantain. The pyramidal build up is because of diet. It is recommended 75% grass, 25% greens, and fruits ones in a while or not at all.
