Of course one of my favorites...this movie is something very, very special...but it's funny how the trailer (even if it's not bad) can not even touch the movie's level in terms of what it reflects in us. That's something different and extremely personal.

This film was on Sky Movies in the UK this weekend. Never seen it before. I don't know how I missed this the first time round. It is a fantastic film. Tim Roth is spectacularly good as is the pace of the character development. The Ennio Morricone sound track makes your spine tingle. Guaranteed to stir anyone's emotions by the end of the film.

Gorgeous film. What's really nifty, is that the actor playing Jelly Roll Morton, is Clarence Williams III. His granddad, Clarence WIlliams, was a contemporary of Louis Armstrong. He published, composed, recorded, and played (piano) jazz. I guess he organized many recordings with people such as Armstrong, Bessie Smith, Sidney Bechet, etc., so it's very fitting that Clarence WIlliams III should play such a role! (It must've been a little bit like coming full circle.)
