For far too long Panda has underperformed. I honestly don't know why ppl keep buying it. Besides being average, these ppl write code that attempts to change settings in Memory even when it's Clearly not necessary. Sneaky, Rotten, & Ineffective is no way to run a software Co. They regularly release "new" ver of software that suck just as bad as the "old".
They have some nerve writing code that tries to attach itself to your PC in subversive ways. Even their Free programs. Scum. NOT Recommended
O_O MATT! Remember how you said you had a rootkit on your comp that was redirecting Google to other search engines? It's not a rootkit. That's actually the koobface virus lol. It redirects popular search engines to lower known ones, like infodingo =D
I´ve noticed that Pandas regular scanner detect viruses that is not detected by Cloudantivirus. "Socks.exe" is detected by Panda 2010. Hope you can test Panda version 2010 soon!
i doubt it,, because vista 32bit maximum ram is 4 gig, and 64bit is 8gb ( i think )...and im guessing you're not using a mac otherwise you wouldnt need ANY anti virus
ESET is not a system hog....wtf. ESET is one of the lightest antiviruses out there, while being really effective. Mcafee and Norton are system hogs, wtf are you talking about =/
No offenses But Norton uses less resources than ESET. I've used and tested both.
Although I don't like norton, I haft to admit Norton 2009 is SUPER easy on resources. It uses 6MB of RAM and basically 0% CPU. ESET uses about 40MB for Smart security 4.
Ummmm...no it does not, noob. It is the lightest antivirus. Mcafee and Norton take up a lot of RAM and CPU. For example, when I had Norton, the interface would take like seven secs to load up. ESET's NOD32 interface takes 1 second to load up. With Norton and Mcafee, it took me 3 hours to scan. With ESET, it takes 1 and a half.
I hate norton. But Norton 2009 is awesome when it comes to resources. I haft to agree that norton 2000-2008 sucked along with norton 360 v2 and v1, but not norton 360 v3. Just install Norton 2009 and see what I mean. It is WAY ligher then ESET, and a quick scan takes less than 30 seconds. What do you say to that? Just try it - You'll love it. I switched from ESET to Norton 2009 and couldn't be happier! Oh and Mcafee DOES suck balls.
Well, I havent checked out the new Norton. Earlier this year I had the earlier version of norton 360, and it lagged me so badly. I guess I can take your word lol. I just like ESET, interface loads pretty fast and it catches most of the viruses out there. I hear around 98% of them o_o
Short answer is you are 99% safe on a virtual machine, especially with a newer cpu. I remember a few years back that some rootkits would flood your cpu to try and become memory resident to your main machine or hypervisor but I think the new generation CPUs have protection to this.
So, if you have new hardware and set up the VM correctly then you should be good. I would like to know of any vulnerabilites myself...
Actually Panda is fairly decent, but it's a resource hog. It uses a ton of memory. Not like I give a shit since I have 12GB in my system, but fuck it. You're right. Haha
I have Avira Premium + Windows Security Essentials and they make a good job!
