He originally wanted Erin Hershey, who was an ABC Daytime actress on the soap opera Port Charles, but numbers proved Hasselbeck was the frontrunner due to her "Survivor" stint and would pull in the younger 18-49 demographic. The fact that she is a conservative works to EP Bill Geddie's advantage, since he is one as well. So ABC & Bill Geddie both want her on.
