  • I remember this one! Yeah, it kind of freaked me out as a kid too.

  • I love Jerry Nelson's French accent - same one he used for Blind Pew in Muppet Treasure Island.

  • Why doesn't he like it when someone says "Nose"?

  • @Quamlen he's sensitive on the subject

  • That'll teach Cookie monster for eating our cookies & using the cookie touch on us. :D

  • im 18 and you have no idea how much of this my family still quotes. but i am ze QUEEEEENNN

  • BELLYBUTTON!! Lol

  • AAHHHHHHHHHHHHH YOU SAID NOSE

  • first rapper on sesame street

  • Bellybutton!

  • The castle setting seemed recycled from the "Mysterious Theater" segment about the circle search; the addition of a green Anything Muppet voiced by Jerry Nelson makes it seem a bit more similar.

  • the orange muppet said ellebell

  • This guy scared the SHIT outa me when I was little! No joke! I had nightmare for months and his voice STILL sends chills down my spine!

  • Thisil be hilarious in reverse

  • why is this sooo low????

  • Do you guys think Cyranose looks better with a blue you-know-what or a red you-know-what? I'm wondering 'cause here, his you-know-what is blue & when he was seen in Elmo's World: You-Know-What, he has a red you-know-what. So, what color you-know-what looks better on him; blue or red?

  • BELLYBUTTAWN!

  • Someone here said the word... COME AND GET EM MAN!!!!! xD

  • I always love the ending where Cyranose chases Cookie!

  • @Goji73 yeah, Me too, I remember this when I was 5.

  • I'm So Happy I'm Not The Only One Who Was Scared By This When I Was Little! My Brother Would Trick Me Into Saying Nose Then Yell, "Cyranose, Come Get My Brother!"

  • loads of people found this scary - i thought it was hilarious - I'm british though so i have a proper sense of humour ;)

  • @klmattydub so if i think cartoon violence is funny i'm British?

  • @Topazfrompixiehollow ha ha not necessarily - i was just sayin u know - british people have a good sense of humour - its a brit thing we think we have the best appreciation for comedy - ie. look at the american office compared to the british one - american sitcoms are woeful!

  • @klmattydub so if i think cartoon violence is funny i'm British? bec i do find this funny

  • Monsieur de Bergerac, stop that swinning your nose at other people!! Everyone says your very aggressive towards people who say nose! Cyranose de Bergerac, you're setting a very bad example for all the little kids watching Sesame Street! Some of them may be hurting each other physically because of you!

  • Sheesh, someone should get a tranqulizer gun for this cyranose de bergerac dude.

  • @NDW85 XD so true!!!

  • I heard that Cyrano was also in Sesame Street when he got his nose stuck in the Oscar's trash cant. I wish I can see it.

  • I was scared sh**less of this video as a child. I had some serious nightmares about this muppet

  • @itznotcindy Yeah, shame on you Cyranose de Bergerac! You shouldn't attack people just because your sensitive to a certain word!

  • @itznotcindy OMG, ME TOO....seriously!!!!! and my best friend and i would reenact this when we were around 5, 6yrs old, and we'd end up getting scared when we had to go to sleep! haha

  • If I said nose and Cyranose came after me, I would fight him back by thrusting my finger into one of his eyes or drop to the ground and start kicking, using my stronest part of my body, my legs because I'm not afraid of him.

  • xD Omg this had me paralysed in fear when I was little. I literally refused to say the word "nose" for weeks!

  • My classmates told me exactly the same thing. I think the makers have been a little too careless on this point;-) All those poor children having nightmares and all.

  • this is not so scary at all... you should see the mysterious theater intro... it caused many children to have nightmares

  • @Broadwing Me too i would not come out of the covers whenever he came on the telly...i used to scream...'Not Mr Nosey man. Not Mr Nosey man!'

  • Hilarious clip!!!!!! And I thought it was cute that they added in harp music when the queen read the poem.

  • There was an episode where he had a cold. I want to see it.

  • Yeah that was the third and last time I remember seeing him.

  • LOL! When this sketch gave me nightmares as a little kid, my mom told me she was sure I could step on him and squish him. Then I was afraid that his nose would stab me in the foot!

  • OMG i'm gonna see this play in a couple hours.

  • alistar cookie: "and i end it with a nose!"

  • I love how the green guy says everything.

    "bellybottón!"

    "what a nohs!"

  • i was horified of this guy when i was little. I was afraid to sleep in my room alone for the longest time. i hated this goddamn guy

  • u mean cookie monster?

  • I think he was talking about Cyranose. His attitude and the look on his face did creep me out, when I saw this as a kid.

  • Comment removed

  • CyraNOSE!!!!! Simple, but beautiful joke. Genius!!!!

  • For some reason I still remember this guy from watching Sesame Street when I was little. He was pretty scary back then xD

  • Yes, he was. He scared the pants off me when I was little!

  • The best part is how similar it is to the real play!

I loves me some Monsterpiece Theater.

  • This was written by William Shakespeare, wasn't it?

  • It was written by Edmond Rostand. According to that *oh so reliable* source wikipedia, Cyrano de Bergerac was based on an actual person of the same name! =D

  • Bellybutton!!!

  • Lol, You will be sorry for when I get You...!

  • Ha, I was just watching Kevin Kline in "Cyrano" on PBS the other night, so this is pretty funny considering in the real version he kills some people, lol.

  • Man, this does seem a little more Epic every Time I go back to it, the Cyrano De Bergerac story itself must go back to the Renaissance Era.

  • I remember this! This was one of my favourite Monsterpiece Theatre sketches- thanks for posting it.

  • I love the part when everyone is passing on the message: "Don't say nose" and then, the last one down the line says it to Cyranose and he's like "Don't say what!" Cracks me up to this very day!!!

  • lol, nothing, don't say nothing...

  • well it doesn't make sense, try it again!!

  • This is my favorite sesame street scene ever! XD

    You said NOSE!!! XD

  • @Corientjuh It's my favorite sesame street scene ever, too! =D

  • @Corientjuh mine too. It is so hilarious. :D

  • OH yeah, I remember him. Everytime he hears the word "nose" he thinks he's being insulted.

    Oversensitive much.

  • @jafeir Well, I'm not afraid of him!

  • Bellybutton! LOL

  • OMG! I was afraid to say nose again because I thought he'd come after me!!! AAAHHH!!!!

  • Monsterpiece Theater is NOTHING without that classic intro with Cookie Monster pigging out on the cookies and burping!

  • but im the queen

  • YOU SAID NOSE

  • No no no, Me say "Know", not "Nose".

  • @Demoncurse123 Actually, Cookie Monster said " No no no, Me say 'Knows', not "Nose".

When spoken orally the plural form of the word "know" ("knows") can sometimes be confused with the singular form of the word "nose". But there is less of misunderstanding when you type it or see the words on screen (for example, when the words of a song are shown on the screen so you can either sing along or just confirm the actual words the singer(s) are singing)

  • SO FREAKIN' SCARY WHEN I WAS LITTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! i ran out of the room because i thought he would come after me!!

  • I love this skit

  • oh noes

  • I even remember when he got his nose stuck in Oscar's trash can.

  • so do i

  • So do I!! Even though I was admittedly terrified of Cookie Monster I loved this skit because, yeah it was funny, and CM was attacked in the end!

  • The most funniest thing I found about Cyranose is that he did not attack real people when they said nose,(Example Luies and Maria when they said it on the same show with Cyranose getting his nose stuck in Oscar's can.)only other Muppets when they said it. When real people said it he just swung his nose left and right in anger.

  • Yeah, I remember that one too, Years then since seen, almost forgot it existed... Cyranose: You say Nose one more Time, I get Angry. Oscar: Nose Nose Nose. Cyranose: whup, that does it. [get's it stuck in the can], and they have a hard Time getting it out, lol...hard, lol.

  • The last time I remember seeing him on Sesame Street was when Oscar tried to insult Cyranose again by saying nose again but he said "Sorry,I can't hear you! I,ve got a cold in my nose!" Funny when I heard that seeing as you don't hear with your nose! After that he was never seen again.(Or at least not by me.)

  • Yeah, I almost forgot that one existd too, cuz I coulda sworn there was a Scene with him and Oscar Himself...

  • There was. Cyranose got mad and got his nose stuck in Oscar's trash can.

  • Yeah, I remember it, and Maria tried to help Him out, but it was stuck good.

  • Comment removed

  • lol some national emergency.

  • That was hysterical! Especially the end where Cyranose chases after Cookie!

  • Yeah, Hey watch out for the Priceless Porcelin... Cyranose: What Priceless Porcelin? [knocks over Porcelin Object with his..."Nose".

  • LOL at 1:44!His nose is like a sword!

  • thanx 4 posting this again. the best Monsterpiece of all

  • Who performed the green and orange Anything Muppets?

Sounds like the green Anything muppet was performed by David Rudman and the orange muppet to me.

  • Martin Robinson.

  • Right. But I'm sure I'm right about the green muppet being performed by David Rudman.
