Well, in Godzilla 1985 it wasn't the lightning bolts, it was the radiation they contained. It was a storm created by the two nuclear missiles colliding in the atmosphere
I hope the 2012 Godzilla from Legendary Pictures has the intense action as this clip does...people running mad with fear from some insanely powerful cataclysmic monster!
He would have killed Roland Emmerich an Dean Devlin for the 1998 travesty an then probably had a heart attack after finishing the film.... Pretty much just like all of Big-G's fan-base did after watching it.....
The American Reboot coming in 2012 or 2013 will show those fuckers how to make a Real American Godzilla movie an not a jurassic park rip off.
This Is The Godzilla I Like!!! I Don't Like That 1998 Bull Crap Where He Was A Giant Iguana Eating Fish And Hiding In The Sewer!!! This Godzilla Got Killed By Destroyah While The Other Godzilla Got Caught On The Brooklyn Bridge And Died!!!
@DylanBStringer91: Destroyah wasnt even able to kill him, The King of the Monsters died from a heart-attack (which itself could have destroyed the planet if quick measures wheren't taken to freeze him up as his nuclear heart was melting-down).
"Zilla" was an interesting if a bit unimaginative beast but should have had absolutely nothing to do with awsomeness that is Godzilla.
where the hell can I find the japanese version??? I have two VHS tapes of the american cut, but I want the japanese version for the scenes that were cut.
damn, i really hate to tell you this, but i watched the Japanese version of this movie about a week ago on veoh, but when i try to find the link again it's telling me it got removed.
This was only seen in the ORIGINAL Japanese version of Return of Godzilla I highly suggest you watch both American and Japanese versions im sure you will agree Japanese version had more dramatic or better action scenes.
All though I hate to admit it, there are SOME things that the U.S. cut made better.
1) The sea louse scene.
2) Russian sub scene.
3) There is something I like about having the crowd of people around Godzilla cut (like the above clip), it sort of made the city feel deserted, like the Apocolypse had struck only the two important characters and the bum were the only ones on the surface that survived.
But yes besides those points the Japanese cut is better. DVD for both in the U.S.! C'mon all ready!
a few other improved bits - the whole Godzilla vs. Army scene was better in the US version, plus his fight with the Super X was tighter, and most importantly he did that creepy scream at the end.
@aylmer666: I've yet to see the Japanese original, but I have sentimental feelings for "1985" (And they don't have the scream at the end? I can't see how that could work, that still brings me to tears thinking about it).
@DChatc no the scream is gone as well as the shots of Perry Mason crying. However the ending credits hang on the volcano (which is an excellent effect BTW) and we get to hear a song "goodbye now Godzilla" in ENGLISH no doubt (?!). It's pretty sad in its own way.
@DChatc : I have the widescreen DVD version of the original Godzilla 1984 and I also have the Widscreen American version of Godzilla 1985 that was shown on MonsterHD before the channel went off the air. The quality is near HD on a 20 LCD screen or a PC screen, but on a normal-sized HD TV the quality is probably as good as standard def would be at that size. The as great as Godzilla 1985 was, the original Japanese version was 10X better. A lot more footage, better flowing storyline.
Umm, are you sure you aren't getting things mixed up? The Japanese cut that I have has an extended sea louse scene, an extended Russian sub scene, and the scene with the crowd surrounding Godzilla. None of that was in any American cut that I have watched.
Yeah that's what I meant. I honestly think that the U.S. edit of the louse and sub were a bit tighter and worked better. Er but cutting out so much of the political workings didn't help.
my since what they are saying/godzilla:.../people:LETS MAKE FUN OF THE DEAD GUY!!! HAHAHAH YOU CANT CATCH US/Godzilla:WHAT DID YOU SAY!!!/people:OH CRAP!!!!!!!!/Godzilla;GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
the screams of the people sounds more like biollante's roar!

In King Kong vs. Godzilla - King Kong draws strength from lightning bolts.
In the Return of Godzilla (1984) - Godzilla draws strength from lightning bolts.

Those guys would have no chance if Zilla (american Godzilla) is rampaging because she's faster than Godzilla (original)
randomjomari 2 years ago
Sure they would. Zilla would have been killed off way beforehand with a pack of firecrackers.
