The problem with most "Believers" is that their religion is a "Revealed" one. Any "Revealed" religion is going to suffer from these severe cognitive dissonances. Quite simply, since the "Revelation" was reported by a human, it will suffer from human bias and distortion. However, since no Deity of any sort has revealed itself to each of us, we have to accept their word for their "Revealed" religion. Pure logic says this is not a tenable position and that deception is inevitable.
Wow .. secularists mean non-religious to them and someone who thinks that matter is all there is. Looking at 2.40 here or so..
What kind of nonsense is that? That´s not at all what it means.
It just means someone who thinks church and state should be seperated. What are these guys trying to do anyway by lying so much about terms - trying to demonise everyone who doesnt want a theocracy?
@Korkzor That's a very good point. These people don't seem to understand that secularism is good for eveyone. If they got their way and lived in a theocracy, it almost certainly wouldn't subscribe to exactly the same god they do, and even if it did, it would only be a matter of time until it didn't.
this was one of the most poinant videos of all i feel. it gets the core of the "you can't be moral without god." arguments i get a lot form many theist and it's equaly bullshit.
A slight word reordering and change for the quote at 4:45(a): "Since man likes to be in control of things -- aren't religions where man is exploited more likely, a religious system where man is to be a mere creation and a man made God is to be exalted?"
I've encountered the, "Why would we make up hell?" question/argument before. It really exposes the intellectual bankruptcy of the person asking. There are multiple obvious reasons for this. Here's a short non-exhaustive list.
1. It is a great threat to keep people in line.
2. It promises some kind of punishment for people like Dr. Mengele, who did awful things and escaped human justice.
3. It provides a dwelling place for an "opponent" of God, who can be blamed for all the worlds ills.
I can see why you've done this...Their BS is starting to make me choke, and I'm 1000's of miles away? I've shared every single video with them, as I'm sure have many others....Have they expressed an annoyance yet? I'd love to know if these are royally pissing them off?
@GreatBigBore I also share the videos thru the e-mail address you provide, usually with a comment something like "your predations on children are being noticed and are offensive to critical thinkers"
@GreatBigBore 2nd part The behavior of the alfamale in apetribes is often violent and dominating, like when a thunderstorm erupts, and the rest of the tribe covers in fear, the alfamale shows his power by not covering in fear and shwoing off his provess. The other apes shows signs of faith in this alfa. The behavior of these apes often mirrors the behavior of religios people today. Theres some pretty good videos on youtube, where this behavior is shown. So religios people, more ape than us:)
@GreatBigBore "Men created religion, men like mr. Wendell who wish to benefit from the gulibility from his fellow humans" One more thing though. When religions get's created it mirrors human/ ape life. Primitive man created religions aswell, mostly based on his enviroment, however the powerfullness of this alfaomega being, could allso come from the concept of the alfamale. If you watch some of the higher developed apes, like chimps, and sees the behavior of this alfamale, to be comtinued
It's nice that there don't seem to be the usual packs of creationist nutjobs and trolls prowling through the comments on these videos...yet. Maybe they're frightened by the tone of the commentary, like they know they'll be torn apart if they try their usual BS here.
@AndrzejWLipski Yeah i allways cringed when i hear "I have the truth" etc. It is allmost allways lies or agenda fueled propaganda. If someone says that they have the truth i would like to know why, and if the response is gonna be cos it says in a 2000 year old ironage mythology storybook, then i can't really believe them, and must call them delusional or liars
4:42 (top) 'and that "God-gene" has been passed down through our genetic code for centuries' *facepalm* Did they just seriously imply atheists think there is a genetic predisposition for belief in god? I spend a lot of time bridging the gap between atheists and religious people by trying to clear up misunderstandings, but when I read stuff like this it makes me think my work is outdone on a massive scale by delusional fanatics...
Oh yeah? well if it wasn't for god then you wouldn't be able to breath.....your going to hell....oh wait that would have been my argument a few years ago. Just thought that I would say something to get someone fired up.....
Most people, at most times, in most places, do "the right thing". Worldwide, with a god, without a god. This alone, speaks to the obvious lack of any god's "presence" with us.
How can you stand to go through this diatribe line by line and still remain lucid if not sane? Don't get me wrong I'm glad you have, especially as I could not critique and present such cogent arguments as you have. Thank you for your ability and will.
Don't you heathens understand YET??? We tell you over and over and over again, but you just don't get it. Forget science. Forget logic. Forget learning and reason. None of that matters because I've had a PERSONAL experience of god and jesus and heaven and hell, and it was REAL and TRUE and NOTHING you say from your fantasy world of the REAL is going to change my mind EVER.

I can't help noticing that, as you move through the series, your comments are becoming more scathing. Is this merely the result of your growing sense of outrage at the utter humbug foisted on children by the "guide" or is it purposeful, leading to some immense, derisive explosion at the end?
@RHYMEMAIDEN1 "becoming more scathing...derisive explosion at the end"
Yeah, some others have made similar observations. It's not on purpose. I'm just opportunistically using what Prestonwood gives me. But I did notice that this one is pretty harsh. And now that you mention it, maybe I will try to make the end a withering blast. Although I might have already used up my most withering blast in this one.
Take that, and that, and and that too. Sad con-men for Jeebus. Why does Yahweh need con-men raising money for him? Might the money be for continuance of the con(building mortgage, utilities, maintenance) within the place of worship?
Or might the money be for that Mercedes in the front of that spacious mansion on that waterfront acreage in Florida? Oh but they say the cash is not for them or their salaries but to help the sick and poor. Sure it is.
Religion is one of the older games man has played, wherein the victor is dictating the rules, and the loser never has a chance of winning. Those in charge of their religious "flocks" understand basic human psychology, manipulating emotions (guilt, hope, love etc.) all the while maintaining control, and promising results they never deliver.
I've watched almost all of your videos, including all of the 3.xx series. This one is the best I've seen on your channel. I think you made one mistake in your logic however: If God did show up, wouldn't we know it was him because he would start killing babies?

@volound Awesome. Normally I would discourage copyright infringement, but these people have justified a bit of civil disobedience -- we're doing a public service.
@volound Awesome. Normally I would discourage copyright infringement, but these people have justified a bit of civil disobedience -- we're doing the public a service.
@MrDiGiWiZ It's not actually extremism when one of them straps a bomb to his chest. It's literalism. In the case of muslims, the qu'ran explicitly states that you have to kill or convert the unbelievers, and I think there's the implication of doing whichever is easiest.
Likewise, the christian homophobic bigots aren't extremists, they're applying a very clear rule. In fact they're practically progressive because they aren't outright murdering gays.
@volound I am trying desperately to find a copy of this as I am just a poor godless sinner. Is this the debate or cough "papers" cough. We had an pdf. that was shut down in like 5 min. the other day. I cant do torrent. It may just be my loss.
Why yes, there are indeed limits to what science can prove.
We call that limit truth, reality, or existence. Things that cannot, even in principle, have any evidence for them, regardless of the technique or method applied, at any point in time, by definition already do not exist and science is forever limited from proving otherwise.
ya know i know this is late but i never thought of you penis when i read your name i think of an EPIC BATTLE PIG with tusk and shit i dono if bore even means pig but it does to me, for some reason i think of huge hog in a christian china shop^^
The word for pig is "boar". A few people have hinted that they find "bore" sexual, but I never thought of that. It just means a bore, like someone or something that's boring. I use that name in order to lower everyone's expectations when they come to my channel, so if I do anything even half-interesting they'll think I'm smart.
@GreatBigBore Ego stroke alert: This is one of your best yet. I had to stop lol'in from the " I never thought of your penis" comment above before I could stroke, I mean compliment you though.
@GreatBigBore i dont find you boring at all i wish you could make hour long videos, although i dono if you do ^^, i am of the opion not enough ppl are talking about god i have listened to every Non prophet and atheist experience like 5 times and i like these as much as those
It makes you wonder wether the kids at Prestonwood Academy have access to the internet where they can check the stuff they are being taught and cross reference it.
I sometimes look on the AnswersInGenesis website, and when you type in a keyword on the google search, it will ask you if you want to check the ENTIRE SITE, you think you are looking at all of google, but really it's just selected answersingenesis pages, .. a bit sneaky i think.
I take care of my children, and I am considerate and loyal to my wife. Yet I do not believe in any form of “gods”. From what I understand of the point of view of certain religious minded people this should not be possible. As an atheist, have I not cheated on my wife or abandoned my family simply due to random chance?
Also what the heck is with various persons posting “first” like it some kind of meaningful accomplishment? Why back in my day when Al Gore first invented the internets, I don’t think this was how he wanted them used.
Right, they seem to think that we're depraved lunatics, or they see that we're not, and they conclude that we're not really atheists. Funny about abandoning: Jesus came right out and gave his followers an Islam-style deal: if you abandon your kids for the sake of Christ you are guaranteed entry into heaven. Strange that I've never heard any of them talk about that. Matthew 19 : 29
@GreatBigBore They ignore this verse and the myriad other offensive verses because they do not serve their agenda. Take, for instance, the verse about camels passing through the eye of a needle more easily then a rich person entering heaven. How many evangelists can you name that have given all their money to the poor? They only give money to the poor in order to spread their agenda, which is conversion in order to bring in more money from the gullible.
Was that an electron microscope image of an HIV viral fused to an immunity cell?
I don't think most religions were crafted with insight as to their false nature. There are plenty of mentally ill people who can function well enough to inspire lies among many people.
Well, I think so, but I didn't look at the caption. I picked it because to me it looked like "an electron microscope image of an HIV viral fused to an immunity cell." Great minds think alike?
Very good video, as usual. Merely directing these questions back to believers would make them stutter.
An easy example, let's forget the boundaries of what science can't and can do, how about we discuss what are the boundaries for personal revelation from a deity? What can it tell us about the universe and the way it works?
Another good exercise is just asking a theist "describe, out loud, what kind of world you think we would live in if God didn't exist". Count how many of them describe ours.
@RudyBeoulve "what are the boundaries for personal revelation"
An excellent point, another example of them not thinking enough. I've asked a question similar to yours about what kind of world we'd have: /watch?v=0W_pFYoqpNU (TheFeltBegone re-asked it to conform to the answerers' requirements.)
This has been flagged as spam show
I came for the Lolcat, I stayed for the interesting discussion. Going to have to watch this from this beginning when I can.

*All taxes due unto Caesar, not included. Your version of my truth may vary, I may require some blood sacrifice. One size does not fit all. Destination charges may apply. @GreatBigBore I am yet so see a suicide bomber defending atheism, for other religions of course, there are always extremists.
MrDiGiWiZ 1 year ago
@MrDiGiWiZ It's not actually extremism when one of them straps a bomb to his chest. It's literalism. In the case of muslims, the qu'ran explicitly states that you have to kill or convert the unbelievers, and I think there's the implication of doing whichever is easiest.
Likewise, the christian homophobic bigots aren't extremists, they're applying a very clear rule. In fact they're practically progressive because they aren't outright murdering gays.
"Extremist" is a misnomer.

@kainniak1
"i never thought of you penis"
Now there's a phrase one doesn't hear every day.

Excellent video.

DerekYM33 1 year ago
@DerekYM33
Also what the heck is with various persons posting “first” like it some kind of meaningful accomplishment? Why back in my day when Al Gore first invented the internets, I don’t think this was how he wanted them used.
DerekYM33 1 year ago
@DerekYM33 It's just a stupid joke.
Fjarhultian 1 year ago
@DerekYM33 "abandoned my family"
GreatBigBore 1 year ago 2
@GreatBigBore They ignore this verse and the myriad other offensive verses because they do not serve their agenda. Take, for instance, the verse about camels passing through the eye of a needle more easily then a rich person entering heaven. How many evangelists can you name that have given all their money to the poor? They only give money to the poor in order to spread their agenda, which is conversion in order to bring in more money from the gullible.

Was that an electron microscope image of an HIV viral fused to an immunity cell?
I don't think most religions were crafted with insight as to their false nature. There are plenty of mentally ill people who can function well enough to inspire lies among many people.
dookiecheez 1 year ago
@dookiecheez "electron microscope image...?"
Well, I think so, but I didn't look at the caption. I picked it because to me it looked like "an electron microscope image of an HIV viral fused to an immunity cell." Great minds think alike?
GreatBigBore 1 year ago
@GreatBigBore
Haha, maybe. I thought the image looked familiar. So I just now went to Wikipedia page on HIV, lo and behold there it was!

RudyBeoulve 1 year ago
@RudyBeoulve "what are the boundaries for personal revelation"
An excellent point, another example of them not thinking enough. I've asked a question similar to yours about what kind of world we'd have: /watch?v=0W_pFYoqpNU (TheFeltBegone re-asked it to conform to the answerers' requirements.)
