i have been doing yoga pilates meditation for 30 yrs, am black. my church friends demonize everything they don't understand like the quran. i am a black atheist and yoga is my Religion. our people need to stop being so close minded. thanks for this posting
Yoga also needs to be sold and marketed to black men . This could be done through maybe introducing the phyical benefits of it first and how it can improve ones performance in whatever sport they pursue i.e basketball ,football .Once they realise this you can move on to the more mentaal and spiritual elements .
Yoga needs to be marketed to men better as guys first off are completely put off by what they may at first deem to be airy fairy mumbo jumbo that is the preserve of females only
Thank you sista for this. I too am a black yoga instructor and have been on this journey for 8years...I have followed all of these teachers and have hopes to open the market still to our urban communities...We shall pass paths someday!
I am a black male, and am obsessed with yoga. Hopefully in the future more of our community will come to embrace it
