  • Wishing Beck the best.

  • How could the ill-educated Joseph Smith translate the ancient text on the golden plates into the English Book of Mormon upon which so many base not only their faith, but a willingness to completely change their lives? The Gift and Power: Translating the Book of Mormon examines the various issues surrounding that translation. How does the fact of the translation fit into a magical worldview in which Joseph had a place as a village seer? What might that context mean for our understanding

  • A 22-year-old man caught vandalizing an LDS church in southeastern Idaho was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

Police say officials with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints declined to press charges against the man. He was found vandalizing the building in Pocatello last Friday after a church member drove by at about 6:30 a.m. and noticed the lights were on inside.

  • As unique of a student-athlete Notre Dame's had a long time, a man as connected to his fate as they come. A Mormon from Hawaii, Te'o turned down the lure of the NFL and the guaranteed money for something he felt was worth a whole lot more.

  • @YourSpaceDaddy how is mormonism a cult? wat does the leader of the church do to force us to do? how are they brainwashed into believing that there is a god? what makes it a cult?

  • You people are cruel in your judgements. You sound like those kinds that killed Christ even after he rose people from the dead, healed, forgave, and loved! They thought they were right and duty bound to persecute Christ in the same mindset and manner you are persecuting Beck and his lovely wife!

  • Glenn Beck is a bad person

  • @ginad17 why is Glenn Beck a bad person?

  • @MrFoshobro It would be impossible to list all of the reasons within the 400 or so characters permitted on Youtube. If you want to know the truth about Beck, why not take the initiative to buy/borrow and read his biography? There are many, many things that people don't realize about this man, namely that he only recently became involved with politics to boost his career. He is an entertainer, not an expert on politics. His hero has always been Orson Welles, enough said!

  • @YourSpaceDaddy scientology is a cult, mormonism was a cult in the start. but then again so was islam and christianity, 12 followers? and look at muhammeds warriors who was promised 72 virgins.

  • smith was a con-man point blank known for BIG lies ...they say they believe the bible but they dont even believe that people go to Hell

  • @icewomen881 How do you know he was a con-man? Have you read the Book of Mormon, and prayed about its words, teachings, and the Testimony of Jesus Christ? If not then you have believed the lies of jealous men and women, seeking to destroy a man whose friends declared him honest. Politicans declared a kind man.

  • Glenn Beck is mormon? This makes so much more sense. All this time I thought he had brain trauma but really he was raised and brainwashed to be a bigot.

  • @someonenoticeimdead you might wanna go back and reread your statement... Beck wasnt "raised" a mormon.. so sorry to disappoint your tiny pea brained ass... too bad you dont do your research before spouting off about a subject you dont know ne thing about...

  • @TheNihipali5 I never said he was raised mormon, I said he was raised brainwashed and a bigot. That could mean anything. Religion creates awful things.

  • Matthew 22:30 (ESV)

30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

Mormons pick and choose what parts of the Bible they "translate" correctly. WE ARE NOT MARRIED IN HEAVEN OR HAVING SPIRIT BABIES FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!

  • @ketsialove tell me which parts of the bible have you picked and choose? Perhaps believe in a heaven and hell, but neglect 1st Corinthians 15:29, 40-43.

  • Life does not end at death, nor was marriage intended to end at death. But marriage by civil officers or by Church officers outside of the temple is for this life only. Eternal marriage in the temple is the only marriage that will continue after death. Exaltation in the highest level of the celestial kingdom comes only to those who make and keep the covenant of eternal marriage.

  • His wife is mute, apparently? some successful marriage.

  • and i agree the most important part to maintaining capitalism is a educated consumer but the problem is we dont have those. the consumers dont know what they are buying and who they are buying it from but if they did then they would be able to keep a check on the business and make sure good businesses succeed and bad ones fail. so in closing you dont need more regualtion you just need a society that doesnt stand for injustices any more

  • Ask Him for the strength to overcome the addiction you are experiencing. Set aside all pride and turn your life and your heart to Him. Ask to be filled with the power of Christ’s pure love. You may have to do this many times, but I testify to you that your body, mind, and spirit can be transformed, cleansed, and made whole, and you will be freed.

  • To those who are dealing with an addiction personally or within your family, I repeat, fervent prayer is key to gaining the spiritual strength to find peace and overcome an addictive craving. Heavenly Father loves all of His children, so thank Him and express sincere faith in Him

  • faggot ass motherfucker. i know your wife cheats on you prick.

  • @meeestersaaarmo really you have to be that much of a hater. you must be the biggest asshole in the world. he is talking about life in general not even politics and you still need to attack him. and you call him a prick?

  • @libertarian93 i bet i could get in your wifeys ass faggot

  • @meeestersaaarmo and by the way i dont have a wife so im sorry you are an uneducated idiot, who probably blamed glenn for the shootings in arizona and now spurt off using language that would insite violence(btw just used the liberal move of spin)

  • @libertarian93 i must not be useing the temple, cock sucker.

  • @meeestersaaarmo i dont know anything about mormonism so i dont know if that was a joke on mormons or something.... oh well you just proved yourself an idiot again by assuming

  • @libertarian93 get off glenn becks testicles you little fanboy.

  • @meeestersaaarmo get off of the governments tit you dumbass fucking peice of socialist shit....oh wait was that an over reaction and completely disrespectful and mostly likely not even a true statement, yeah but youve done that a couple times so who caares

  • @libertarian93 why does it say on your profile you have aspergers syndrom?..thats really weird. i am sorry for offending you little buddy. i was not trying to be cruel with my words. you are right friendo.

  • @meeestersaaarmo um it doesnt idont know if it was another attempt at comedy but whatever....i was just saying if you want be a ddick i can be a dick also

  • @libertarian93 well you are clearly a dick if you critisize socialism you facist fuck face why dont u go get ready for walmart to start sodomising your stupid ass

  • @Dem640 i am a capitalist not a facist you stupid fuck. facism is socialism that favors big business like obama and bush did. capitalism had created the middle class and the idea of small businesses.

  • @Dem640 also bro socialism just takes the ass fucking from the 1000s of companies and gives it to a couple hundred people in a government bilding while they control every aspect of your paycheck, and if they control your paycheck they control what you can and cannot buy and therefore what you can and cannot do.

  • @libertarian93 duh, socialism was originaly inteded to be a gateway to anarchism thats what im for

  • @libertarian93 capitalism is what regan was in favor of and it just gave more breaks to the rich big buisness owners trickle down economics is just fucking retard u capitalist/facist whore

  • @Dem640 thats not capitalism that is corporatism, which leads to facism so you are kind of right but not really capitalism is what friederich hyak was studying

  • @libertarian93 well sorry for the insults i was dealling with some trolls b4 i responded

  • @Dem640 its fine most i have done that before also. i hate the same exact things you do we probably would agree on alot of things

  • @libertarian93 lol but seriously i dont like corperatism socialism facism or capitalism and i think this democracy is failing =/

  • @Dem640 i agree democracy doesnt work and i would argue every form of capitalism that has been tried has not work but there is one form of capitalsim that i ike and that is the austrian view on economics which i think should be seperate from everything else because of how "radical" it is. i would argue for a return to the original republic that america had instead of what we have now which is a vte for me gimmuck were the only thing that matters is pockets of the rich and hearts of the people

  • @libertarian93 well the thing is with a capitalism you will need more regulation on what the buisnesses do so we dont have what was happening in 1860-1920 the horiible working enviroment as illistrated in the book "the jungle" i cant remember the author right now, but it talks about the shitty conditions of the meat packing operation with all the government regulations of a 1900s sociaty personaly i like anarchy because the people will have enough sense to put an end to that because its all

  • @libertarian93 continued* communal so people will look out for everyones best interst instead of just their own (my form of anarchy is best described through this video I. Anarchy

  • @Dem640 if you look at the earliest form of our republic that is pretty much what we had, people would bandtogether and it was about everyone helping eachother instead of the government helping everyone. austrian capitalism in its most radical form promotes anarchy. I think there should be laws but i dont like the idea of having a single ruler i would much prfer the roman system where you just had a congress and no president but that eventually became a dictatorship... because of war

  • @libertarian93 that sounds pritty good but for that to work you would need to remember how corrupt thos congressmen got

  • @Dem640 yup....people are corrupt and more importantly, groups of people are corrupt

  • @libertarian93 whether or not he is talking about politics or marriage its all fake. this man is scum and you are too you libertarian fear fed douche. ill ravage your wife.

  • @meeestersaaarmo im a libertarain i dont live in fear like you do thats why you give your rights to the govt whenever they say terrorist and thats why our economy sucks because people like you trust the govt out of fear

  • @meeestersaaarmo Let us know when you can open your eyes again. Apparently anyone who disagrees with you is scum no matter how genuine they are. Good luck on whatever planet you're living on.

  • his wife looks like a stone cold c-u-n-t

  • I watch Beck everyday. Until now I had no idea his wife was that amazingly good looking.

  • I used to not like him, because He always made fun of IRAN and Eastern Countries .

  • Success? When you sell yourself as a "alternative" media personality like he is, its like thinking your eating health food when your really not, some truth mixed with .. "other stuff" doesn't equal truth.

Mormons? If you listen to him talk all he did was change his thinking, that changes lives, Mormonism is more of a strange secret cult with no merit to it whatsoever.

I don't trust him and i don't trust the Mormon cult at all.

I feel sorry for there member's.

  • he is a moron.

  • @johnfire3 Explain that?

  • The temple is 80% of the faith? Mormons...

  • @calebdean2476 well, he is just saying it is a culmination of the teaching of Christ. Obviously Christ is 100% of the faith. He is just trying to say that it is important.

  • @pilottim7 Who's Christ are we referring to? The temple or catholic (universal) Christ?

  • @calebdean2476 Temple or catholic universal Christ? There's only one Jesus Christ.

  • @HowPoetic I agree, there is only One Christ. It's to bad Smith created a different version of him.

  • @HowPoetic How so?

  • When 17-year-old violinist Joseph Matthews performed at the dedication of the Alex Haley Museum and Interpretive Center, he had no idea he would discover his family roots. Joseph, a high school senior from Memphis, Tennessee, was among hundreds who participated in two days of festivities at the Interpretive Center located behind Mr. Haley’s boyhood home in Henning, Tennessee. The center was dedicated on Friday, 13 August, 2010

  • Gadzooks! I've always wondered what makes people be jerks. That short video explains a lot to me... and those looks from his wife... fwew!

  • i don't know but i would do his wife.

  • @scatcoitus easy there big guy.

  • A choir of 350 children from several different faiths, including some performing in American Sign Language, sang together. The event also featured reading from holy books, dancing, bagpipes and recitations and was hosted by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elder Kent F. Richards of the Seventy welcomed all those in attendance. Local news anchor Carole Mikita of KSL Television emceed the program.

  • She looks deeply unhappy.

  • @dolphin812000 yeah, that cheerful smile gives it away???

  • Of course Glenn Beck is a Mormon. He LOVES batshit theories and ideas.

  • @dougmanjones well if you look at history and every other,at least, economic theory.. his ideas are not original and are stolen by smart people that have the best ideas but they are backed and the most intelligent ideas and those ideas are austrian prospective economics and after that my agreeance with beck ends

  • i wunna no stuff about the mormon faith.

  • @casket095 mormon . o r g

  • The LDS institute at the university has been a big help for Lindsey while going to school 1,600 miles from home.

"There's not a whole lot of members of the church there, but the ones that are have been a good support group for her," Rich said.

  • "Brandon Moss wanted me to work with him on this project," Unga said. "So I joined the group."

Moss, the founder of Power in 1, said he was inspired to create the organization based on his experiences in Brazil during a two-year Mormon mission. Now, he has joined forces with Invisible Children Inc., which started in 2003 through documentary screenings and has grown into a nonprofit group raising awareness of the war and child soldier movement in Uganda.

  • PROVO, Utah -- When BYU running back Harvey Unga took an entrepreneurship class last fall, he had no idea one project could turn into a full-fledged charity organization.

What started as five BYU business students working on a class project has transformed into Power in 1, a service group trying to make a difference in the world through organized volunteering.

  • A number of critics claim that the church of their youth taught one thing while modern apologists are now altering church doctrine to conform to science such as DNA findings in the New World (the topic of DNA will be discussed in the very near future). First, it's important to understand that such issues are not doctrinal, so changes in theories are irrelevant to gospel truths

  • Likewise, virtually all LDS scholars, regardless of their views on the location of the narrative, believe that the Lehites were a small incursion into a larger and all-ready-present Amerindian population.

  • While the question as to the date of earliest date and route of populating the Americas is still hotly debated, scientists almost universally agree that the earliest Americas arrived to the New World thousands of years before Book of Mormon people came on the scene

  • A second response is that there may indeed have been horses in the

Western Hemisphere during the Book of Mormon time frame. We know from

excavations that horses existed in the Americas long before the

arrival of the Nephites, and it could very well be that some survived

among the pre-Columbian civilizations. Some evidence exists that

    supports this contention.

  • Should we point out that other churches have as much or more dirty

laundry than ours? Just think of American history: the massacres, the

injustices, the denial of rights, the lack of moral values, the

racism, even the witch trials, all put forward in a mostly Protestant

    America.

  • But I really don't think any of these arguments will work. While

these arguments might make us feel better, I doubt they would convince

this member to stay in the Church and there is little to be gained by

arguing that some things we have done may have been bad but some

things others have done have been worse.

  • The evidence presented above suggests that the timing of Elijah's return may have been arranged to occur on the best anniversary of Easter, calendrically speaking, in history. But for what reason?

The Lord's possible intent in such a matter may be beyond our understanding (see Isa. 55:8-9); on the other hand, the scriptures are given to us to search for understanding, and in that spirit it may be acceptable to offer the following four possibilities.

  • Now consider some possible reasons for such astronomical precision in the timing of Elijah's return.

  • For example, the fact that the law of Moses specifically required the lamb to be sacrificed on 14 Nisan argues against a 15 Nisan Crucifixion (a possibility discussed in Part 1). Moreover, when the symbolism of the offering of the firstfruits on the morning after the Jewish Sabbath is understood to symbolize the resurrection of the Savior, then it becomes an indication that the first Easter morning should also have occurred at the same time

  • Of Sister Hinckley, Sayer said she was the quintessential plucky grandmother. Once a 10-year-old girl came up to President Hinckley for an autograph. Sayer said, "Sorry, you can't do that." The little girl ran back to her mother and burst into tears. Sister Hinckley went over to the girl and asked, "What's the matter, my dear?"

  • The girl pointed to the "big mean man" -- Sayer -- and Sister Hinckley told her to come along. As she brought the girl to President Hinckley, the girl gave Sayer "the worst look! If looks could have killed!"

  • When Johnny and Mahana return to the island after their honeymoon, she has transformed into a gracious, radiant beauty -- once again perplexing the other islanders.

Why is "Johnny Lingo" so heavily ingrained in Mormon culture? Members who grew up in the church's Sunday School, seminary and institute programs rarely forget this simple take on the Cinderella motif.

  • Many know the story by heart: Johnny Lingo is handsome, wealthy and the talk of the fictional Pacific island he hails from. He is a notorious trader with an eye for a bargain.

Hence he shocks the community when he pays eight cows -- a high, unprecedented price -- for the hand of shy, unkempt Mahana.

  • Forty years later, "Johnny Lingo" still merits discussion. Remarkable, considering it was a shoestring budget, 24-minute film Brigham Young University put out for the Sunday School that -- much like kitschy "Napoleon" -- doesn't mention Mormonism.

  • In addition to Brothers Garthe and Hartzheim, three other Church members work for the Rockets: Jeff Mauss, Lisa Ward and Jordan Harris.

The event raised $1,250 for the Houston BYU Replenishment Grant, an educational grant providing money to BYU students from the Houston area.

  • For his part, Elder Perry said that meeting with the members of the Church following the game was his favorite part of the night.

"I complimented them on being interested in reaching outside themselves and being an active part of the community in which they belonged," he said.

  • The week also includes several special events, including a genealogy "kids camp" for youth in grades four through 12 and a Celebration of Family History concert featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and author David McCullough. McCullough's books include biographies of Harry Truman and John Adams.

  • Dozens of workshops will be held daily to provide beginners and experts alike with tips on everything from basic research and organizational skills to locating resources, deciphering records, understanding DNA testing and writing and editing family narratives. Special technology workshops are also planned to aid in understanding and using various genealogy-specific databases and programs.

  • i've finally figured out why i dont like him so much

  • his loving wife??

  • @omiolo not at all. his religion i mean cult.

  • sounds like YOU are a bigot!

    congratulations!

  • @omiolo well at least i dont think that black people are of satan.

  • @castrosux94

you don't you seem like the type that does!

BTW, did you say that with your hood on?

  • @omiolo oh yeah of course seeing as how I'M the one who believes that blacks have no place in heaven as it says so in the book of mormon. riiiight

  • yeah you seem like you do NOT want the many black Mormons to go to heaven!

  • @omiolo many? yeah right. just go back to your "many" wives. and put on your magic underwear

  • and why don't you go back to your KKK meetings, or whatever meetings hate groups go to now a days.

  • @omiolo wow mormons suck at arguments. you really don't know how to take sarcasm. you know that one doesnt have to be in the KKK to hate mormons right? imbecile

  • I am pretty sure that EVERYONE that HATES Mormons has some connection to the KKK.

now go to your Klan meetings and do what you are told!

  • @omiolo oh yes because my immigrant family would just love to be associated with a group of people who would rather see them killed than to see them come to america. but let's be honest your book of mormon does that blacks do not belong in heaven and yet i'm the racist? that's logical.

  • oh, so now you are self hating?

  • @omiolo i swear you make absolutely no sense whatsoever. go in a hole and never come out. you can take your cult along with you.

  • @castrosux94

I can see why a person like you would be easily confused!

  • @omiolo your stupidity makes me laugh. i think you forgot to put on your magic underwear today.

  • @castrosux94

so you are confused and I am the stupid one?

you might want to rethink that!

  • @omiolo you mustn't have understood when i said that YOUR cult believes that black people cannot get into heaven. it says it in your book of mormon. so if anyone here is a part of the KKK is you. you must be reading this with your hood too tight.

  • @castrosux94

    my cult?

secondly my Book of Mormon does NOT say something like that. Thus YOU lie! Just like your KKK friends!

  • Young members of the Church at Oracle Arena in Oakland pose in their LDS Warriors t-shirts before playing a scrimmage at halftime at the Golden State Warriors-Utah Jazz basketball game.

  • The evening was a big success for the NBA team. John Beaven, the Warriors' director of group sales said, "The response we received was tremendous. The LDS group was 3,000 strong, easily our largest group night of the season."

Church members were abuzz with excitement from the moment they set foot in the arena for the game.

  • Thurl Bailey presents Alvin Attles, retired Warriors player and coach, a personalized family tree gift.

  • The council also presented a fireside the next night with Brother Bailey as the featured speaker.

  • Third, teach the doctrine and principles found in the sacred pages of the Book of Mormon. We can teach anyone from this book. Can you imagine the additional convincing power of God14 when missionaries and family members quote, read, or repeat by heart the books very words?

  • Even in these turbulent times, we know that things will be OK if we follow the teachings learned from the Book of Mormon and the living prophets. Once we learn about an attribute of Christ, such as the one recognized by the brother of Jared, we should work to implement it in our own life. This will help us to become more powerful priesthood holders.

  • As your father, he is entitled to inspiration on your behalf. His advice to you will be the heartfelt expressions of someone who knows and loves you. Your dad wants more than anything for you to be happy and successful, so why would you not want to trust someone like that? Boys, trust your dad.

  • First, trust your father. He is not perfect, but he loves you and would never do anything he didnt think was in your best interest. So talk to him. Share your thoughts and feelings, your dreams and your fears. The more he knows about your life, the better chance he has to understand your concerns and to give you good counsel. When you put your trust in your dad, he will feel the responsibility of that trust and try harder than ever to understand and to help

  • Tonight I want to give you young men three simple suggestions on how to take full advantage of your relationship with your dad. And then I want to give you fathers three suggestions about relating to and communicating with your sons.

To you Aaronic Priesthood holders, I believe that by doing these three simple things you can make your relationship with your father even better than it is right now.

  • Hey friends,

I know that all of you, like me, adore Glenn! So check out The Young Turks Youtube page for amazing commentary regarding Glenn, his intelligent ideas and ways we can help his cause!

Make sure you take a look at their channel! Every Beck fan should!

  • Turks are both HATERS and sexist, really degrading to women. Especially Mormon women!

I am sorry you embrace such FILTH!

  • Um, dude. The Young Turks have nothing to do with the Turkish people, if that is what you are referring to. They are merely a group of individuals who love Beck just as much as you do, and comment on his ideas and life, etc, etc. So make sure you check out The Young Turks You tube page! God Bless!

  • I did NOT say they did. Please do NOT put words in my mouth. If that is the ONLY way you can be right, then what can I say?

  • Hopefully Mr Beck will follow the footsteps of his mother and brother....soon!

  • Dwayne no two people think the same. No two people agree on every single issue in the whole world. Just because someone has different political views than you, it doesn't mean that you should want them to kill themselves.

    but that's just my opinion.

  • Your opinion is totally valid. My words may be extreme and unjust, but the amount of negativity this man is producing on a National scale is definitely not good for the country.

  • from the book of Matthew, 22: 24-34 (Jesus about life after death),, if mormons dont agree with Jesus while on earth then where will they end up, if they dont agree with what the Savoir says about one thing, then they probally dont agree with what Jesus says about more important issues ,,

  • Hey glen you're wife is gorgeous whoa. Christians said some nasty hit about mormons Christianity is an evil cult if you can piss them off maybe I do like you

  • Amazing... two things

1.glen how did you EVER wind up with a women THAT DROP DEAD GOOD LOOKING!!!! you truly are a lucky man

    and

    2. you are 100% correct... right on the nail good buddy

  • I never knew he was a mormon=D

    Thanks for posting!

  • "the real answer is the Gospel and the temple"

well said and shows an understanding that I didn't know he had!
