  • Again, your post shows your total lack of objectivity when it comes to this subject. No one, especially a dentist, will ever convince you of the efficacy of amalgam fillings, so there's really no point in continuing the conversation. Find yourself a like-minded dentist and you should be happy with your treatment.

  • This video shows exactly what careful people explain, just becuase they are a educated person with a title does not mean they will make the best choice for you. The mercury is not bound up, he even admits that when you chew a gas is released. Contradicting yourself is not a good way to prove a point. I don't ride a high horse BTW, I am more humble. So by assuming that just becuase a person is criticizing you they are on a high horse shows your ambiguity and ignorance for the real world. ; )

  • Dear iabsoriw433:

I'm wondering what a dentist did to you to engender such anger. In answer to your very ill-informed post, more composite restorations fail than amalgams and the placement of any restoration always carries the risk of future problems.

I'm sorry that you carry so much anger toward the dental profession and I hope that you can find a dentist that you can trust.

  • I'll tell you why dentist's like amalgam fillings, because when they put them in your mouth, You will be back for more dental work. Other teeth rotting, gum dysfunctions equals more dentist visits! It's fucking bullshit! You should be ashamed of yourself!

  • Yes, I and 90% of the other dentists in the US have been placing amalgam restorations for 30 years, and of course, mercury vapor is emitted during chewing. But is it harmful? As harmful as background radiation encountered everywhere?

Or the trace elements of cyanide found in those "harmless" composite restorations? Climb down from your high horse and look at the real world...

  • The mercury "becomes an entirely different substance"?? There are plenty of studies measuring the vapor of mercury atoms emitting from amalgam. A merc atom is a merc atom is a merc atom. You've been placing them for 30 yrs? That's proof of a reason for your denialism there for sure.

  • Almost as hilarious as the trace elements of cyanide found in most composite resins...

  • Hilarious. Way to misinform people. "The mercury is bound up"...that was disproven over 20 years ago with the sheep studies. So much for the precautionary principle.
