front and rear bottom end of those tracks could use more angle to have climbing clearance, real tanks treads are not short like the rest of these Tread ATV Mod companies- the more angled version at the bottom bogies would have much more clearance to go over logs and such
@OLDSCHOOLHHSEX i agree....i've seen some systems on Youtube that the front tracks are flat??? not too sure which company has them flat, but i think Apache has the front angled like snowmobile ski's.... do you know much about these systems? are Apache and Tatou the best ones?
@quincee33 Tatou seems to be the Best engineered *Multi-Brand Bolt on kit* so far having some bit angle at bottom wheels, but these are still not like what I had drawn in my drafting class many years ago, doesnt surprise me that few of those simple side view drawings of treaded vehicles from so many years ago from mid 1980's though mid 1990s got put into production, major difference is-All my designs was AMPHIBIOUS,if needed to fish from the lake, vehicles simply drove into the water to float
@OLDSCHOOLHHSEX great idea but they would sell for more then 3500.00,, argo makes one that floats but no ground clearance will get stuck in 1 foot of snow , gary
@atvtracks Thank you, thats where the Retro Engineering skill comes in, what if Tatou produced angled treads that would add 4 to 5 feet LIFT, from off the ground clearance? the new track chassis would be of 2 sets, Argo has 3 wheels on each side-Tatou could make a treaded chassis to adapt the 3 main rims with treads driver hubs, but the lift comes from the suspension built into that adapter set for each side. The Oringinal ARGO had no suspension that I could see,so the treads is a major improvement
@OLDSCHOOLHHSEX About the treads adapter with a 4 or 5 foot LIFT SUSPENSION for the ARGO-without the Trial-and-Error height to see how much lift that ARGO would actually need for clearance on snowdrifts or snowbanks,I suggest an Adjustable height suspension, and where those treads are wide enough to tread /paddle water to propel the ARGO when in boat mode, either that or mount small outboard motor >:) dont underestimate those little outboard motors, beats paddleing back to the shore by hand
@atvtracks The ARGO has been out for several decades, I once saw 1 old Amphibious machine very similar having 6 wheels in a Trading post about 5-7 years ago being sold for $500 because the Drive chain broke,I am STILL kicking myself when I shouldve bought such an easy to fix chain drive problem with a $6,000 RV being sold so cheap-main problem there is that my area is a CITY with no way to drive those things legal without a trailer on local roads to go fishing-ARGO CAR MOD (Street legal) anyone?
@O7ROADKING artic cat is made by soucy and is not a bad system,, it has a spring torsion arm like tatou on the front but a solid rubber torsion arm bracket on the rear that does not let the rear track roll over objects like tatou,, therefor you will loose traction,, this system was designed by soucey and this year they have the trek 3 with the new 14 inch rear wide track which will be available in august. also artic cat fits artic cat only,, tatou or trek 3 will fit all other machines .gary
What a Bull Shit Video!!! These suckers are hard to put on. Directions/pictures are terrible. You have to wing it. Video doesnt even show the mounts you have to put on. Just a royal PITA to mount. Lug nuts are very different reg/track system. The lug nuts on/off require 15 mm head, not 17mm standards. Mount kit missing some nuts/bolts and the mounting/engineering on Polaris Sportsman 800 left, in my opinion, weak areas and uneccessarily stressed. Hope they improve installation/mounting hardware.
@BigBearHuskyMusher , first time is tough,, now you are a pro,, you should try some of the tougher tracks by other manufacturers,, we do not even use instructions,,and i am sure you now do not,, as with all new learning process the first time is tough,, second time much easier,, ,, my first brake job took 6 hours i can now do it in 45 minutes,,
In regards to the video "Icing Tatou's", Camoplast has sent new wheels to my dealers and they replaced all the plastic ones with rubber ones, so the icing problem on my tracks will now be "fixed"...so I will be removing the mentioned video in a few days.
@TlcBister last year was a tough winter,, only 1 person out of the 500 sets complained about icing,,that was you,, since your complaint,, not only has camoplast changed to rubber coated wheels but also tjd and saucy which makes kimpex tracks,,.sometimes the internet helps,, only issue i have is there are 500 of my customers that have had no problem,,but i am sure the rubber wheels will be better,, i am not worried about my 500 customers as i still am very happy with my camoplast tracks,, gary
@atvtracks . There are customers on a website called 'trackshare' that have also had their wheels ice up and Camoplast has also changed them, so there are a few customers with complaints, not many but a few. I found they iced up on a trail, not in deep snow, something to keep an eye, some might not know to watch for this. I am glad they took care of the problem and my dealer took care of everything for me and said they were very good about it. I love my tracks too.
@175K10K175 they work well as long as you do not get into water above the atv as the atv does not float,, we are also tersting the new j-wheels that seam to be better in mud and we are testing a product to see if the atv will float when you get in real deep water,, gary
@atvtracks Sweet, don't need it to float, I'm not stupid. Anythign that deep I'll take a boat. I was just wandering about real sloshy mud and stuff like that.
we have personally sold 700 sets,, we have had one customer in had a problem with icing,, the temp has to be perfect to cause this problem,, ,, as you can see by the video the whole frame is solid ice,, the bogeys they use this year are the same as last year and we had no problems last year,, i am sure camoplast will figure out the problem,,this company is the best,, ps i have also heard the same problem with the commander tracks and tjd tracks,, just a minor glich in 1 out of 1000 sets, gary
It builds up more when running on a groomed or packed trail. There is a whole thread on a forum site called "trackshare" in the "atv Track kit" forum.
My brother has the rubber wheels and he has no problem and mine are plastic and they build up on packed snow as I mentioned in my previous post. If I run on packed snow and it builds up and then cruise in some powder, it will let go. Powder is no problem. I still like the track, I am just having that icing issue, in any temp., with my wheels, and it is only the end ones that matter....I would just like rubber ones. Camoplast says they are working on a solution
look pretty puny to me

too bad the new ones have an icing problem that tightens the track with the new plastic wheels instead of the rubbers ones they use to use.

theboarman 1 year ago
thx, but i kinda like the way the APACHE front is angled upwards for going over bumps and logs and such.
quincee33 2 years ago
Is this a better system than the Apache tracks for CAN AM?
quincee33 2 years ago
We think that it is. The Apache systems that we have ridden with always work ok...Tatou 4-S is still king of the mountain.
