  • I guess u will be a lot hotter with longer hair...try to take my suggestion >_-!

  • i suggest your parents pay for your shitty education

  • @longfootbuddy Actually, the government paid for my school from elementary throughout high school, though schooling is taken from taxes anyways, ANDDD my parents paid for my tutors and is currently paying part of my university.

    Education has been fine.

  • you are SO right.

  • Dude You Are Awsome ! You Think Just Like Me ! I Agree With You 1000000000000%/ I Wish Obama Would Get What Your Saying . Btw How Old Are You Cause You Said Something About Having Straight A's like First Semester 12grade ? You Look Younger.. Just Wonderin

  • well i hope God changes your heart and mind that He might show you the way. All im trying to do is help you but if you think im not helping then idk what to think

  • @TheIrresistableME Okay, I'm not even going to bother responding to what you just said, but just a note, if you want to really by that Christian, hear this: STOP TALKING ABOUT GOD TO ME.

It's annoying when I've said, not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES for you to STOP quoting the bible and speaking of Christianity.

But he's something you may understand: "The least you do unto my brothers, you do unto me."

You are annoying me. Get it?

There seems to be no way for you to think at all.

  • @pokeeuge oh that was my little sister talking to you. i wasnt home i was at a volleyball game.

  • @pokeeuge why do you reject God?did he do any bad unto you?If anything if i was in your situation i would love if someone like me told me about God Cause i know i would have needed it.

  • @TheIrresistableME Why should I believe him? He didn't do anything.

If you were me, you wouldn't give a shit. Don't pull a "if i were you" card because you barely even know or can barely even think like me. If you were you, you'd be like that. Not I.

I don't need it, I don't need him, and all your beliefs are based on faith, whereas mine are somewhere else.

It is not my burden to reject, it is your burden to convince, and you should've heard me a while ago that you're annoying me.

  • lol haha I am subscribing

  • I was unlucky, all my teachers sucked save for one, but that teacher tought a subject that I hated. My favorite subject the teacher didn't teach at all, we just sat at our computers and did what we had to do. I graduated with mediocre grades. I slept through my classes. I know its to late but I wonder if its possible to learn what I would've learned in high school on the internet, like some website that teaches everything and just gain knowledge for knowledges sake.

  • It's stupid cuz I'm supposed to be learning geometry in my first year of high skool but they don't count it on ur records...so I have to take algebra twice which will just be easy and not take geometry

  • I hate school cuz of the pre-mature ppl, waking up too early and I'm not comfortable when I'm in PE( I do excersize on my own tho ) but I just can't wait for college, I don't really hate school, I just hate the dickz out there and I wish I had independant study

  • very interesting topic :D im glad you chose to talk about it because its been on my mind for a while as well.

  • More days and hours of teaching involves a higher pay for teachers and staff. To be a Teacher you must be willing to work long hours and get low pay for it and not get paid over summer. If teacher stay at school longer the gov would have to pay more for the school time work the do. Also all Teachers are passionate abouth their profession and they're willing to help any student the best they can. They try their best just like students do and things they like to do.

  • @BANKAI207 Not necessarily higher, just they get more for doing more. They're not getting a raise or anything, they're just working longer hours, thus resulting in the final paycheck being more than usual, though of course, they worked for it.

Chances are, at least in Canada, there isn't going to be any raise for a long time.

Some teachers do get paid over the summer, if they teach summer school.

And, no, not all teachers are that passionate about what they do...some don't even know how.

  • Oh God.....that idea about longer hours was really really make someone stress and dieing >_>

  • wow thats stupid and some kids dont give a rat ass about school

  • all my teach are great exept for my english teach cause she hates me since im a talker. but its not all my fault cause she out next to my best friend. she was the first teach who gave me a C on my report card:(

  • obama also wants to make summer vactionn smaller.

    algebra is hard..for me.

  • I am a parent and I agree with you that time in school does not make you smarter infact neither does homework because if you allow a child to take that interest in wanting to excel in an area or subject and uses after school hours to search the subject at will and to the extent he or she wants then you wll have children who have everything they want out of the education system . Noone should be doing after school homework that time is for other interests. Most teachers are plain old stupid

  • What about turbans?

  • I think there should be more asian teachers. ther smart. most of the time

  • If all my teachers were Asian, I'd be missing out on some of the best teachers I've ever had in my life.

  • that wicked dude

    stick up for ur hood

i might not be asian but my gf is

i call asians brothers cause there

    my best friends

soo this is good 5 stars

  • Hah.. I have about two classes with the teachers who can't teach. I spend more time outside of school rather than in school. How the hell does that add up? I actually learn more from Online Math tutorials than from my Geometry teacher (Who's been doing it for 20 years)....Practically knows the stuff but can't teach it.

And teachers are complaining about lay-offs? To be honest..If you're not good at what you are doing....Why do you have the job?

By extending hours..This encourages more cutters..

  • exactly.....

  • Now that's an excellent point. Quality generally beats quantity. There is no real sense in forcing pupils who don't care much about school to be sitting there longer. And it doesn't make sense to force good pupils either because they are already doing more work voluntarily.

One thing that totally annoyed me in German school was that they don't teach you good learning methods. You are supposed to learn a lot of crap but no one tells you how. Optimized learning methods and feedback are crucial.

  • Indeed.

I'm guessing one problem with that is that everyone intakes and learns information differently, so it's so broad. I guess a general tip would be nice, but it just depends on the person.

  • I'd say what we need is more teachers (good teachers!) and smaller classes. That way the task difficulty and learning methods could be more individually adjusted.

The problem when all are treated the same is that all get the same instruction, same tasks and same difficulty level... More skilled and self-confident people need more difficult tasks, others need easier but still challenging tasks to gain a feeling of competence.

Uh oh... my academic rambling mode is on again. Don't like that. XD

  • The problem is finding such teachers, especially when most students are intimidated to talk to authority about teachers who lack any teaching skills. Even if they did complain, the authorities would just brush it off. That's the entire problem.

Most schools give the students a choice to challenge the class to excel in it, so that solves that.

  • Yeah, I know... it's sad.

If you ask me, courses in developmental and motivational psychology should be obligatory both for politicians and for teachers.

  • My school officially starts at 8:35 and ends at 3:15. But normally I get to school at 8:20 and the bus leaves at 3:30.

  • try telling this to obama

  • 8.50 to 3.30? Thatz bad 4 my school area the others finish at like 3.15

  • HOLY CRAP !

We start at 7:45 and end at 3:03 !

  • Hehe , I know about the cold front too (:

  • Yeah, I sort of agree. Lengthening the school day isn't going to work, being in school for 7-8 hours a day is brutal as is. I'd rather see more school days (ie. a longer school year with shorter breaks in between) with the hours per day shortened in proportion. I think that's better in terms of retaining knowledge over time.

Of course, better educators would help too, but they only come in handfuls. Quality teaching takes talent and sadly not everyone has it.

  • Erica, why are you stalking me? LOL

But agreed...even though the 4 month summer we get is ever-so tempting.

  • Hahahaha only ever so occasionally. :P

  • d'aww i feel so special

  • yeah half of the teachers in my school just give people worksheets to do for the whole period and sit around drinking coffee and emailing other teachers and also (i don't know if its only my school) but my school doesn't have any tutors or anything so when some kids do struggle they cant do anything about it.

  • ...

  • To be out of topic for one sec, o_o i think I like older women who are 7 years older than me cause your 18. O_O and 18-7= 11.

All look was your face haha and your voice and the subject but pretty much your face haha. I feel so weird right now. O_o

  • The other thing that is ruining children is the lack of gym class. The obesity problem starts in schools, the lack of motivation. Teachers don't need money, in the US, (or at least Wisconsin), the public school system is diminishing, even though money is being pumped into it. Not only that but now on the subject of books and teachers, its coercion into communism/socialism/fascism. Don't believe me-look at your history in the US, it's a ton of shit about Russia. I think it's in Canada too..

  • Canada learns about Canada history, WW1 and 2. That's about it. Also the French Revolution and such. Not much about Russia.

Can't say much about the states since I wouldn't know.

  • HEY that's not true.

I had to learn so much about Russia.

(This probably explains why you didn't know who Stalin was when I asked you...)

  • I KNEW WHO HE WAS D: I just didn't know where he was from or something but I knew he was friends with hitler D:< SHUSH YOU LOL

  • YEAH RIGHT.

and he wasn't Hitler's friend! Well maybe faux-friends for the nazi-soviet non-aggression pact but they were on opposite sides of the war! D:<

  • Not really friends, Hitler lost the East front because of attacking Stalingrad unprepared.. just to destroy the city who had Stalin in its name... he wanted to whipe stalin of the face of the earth.. so they weren't that close friends :P

  • Me and erica do that all the time :D LOL

  • I find Obama's plan very unnecessary.

I'm in highschool right now, and the time we used to have was 8:00 am-2:15pm

    Now it's 8:00am-3:30pm.

We used to only have 9 periods and now there is 10. The 10th period is used as like a support thing but people treat it as just another study hall. They taken away after school buses so there is absolutely no after school anything except clubs or sports. If you are in a club or w/e and you don't have a ride home, your screwed =/...

  • Time is not always the answer, if teachers can't teach yur screwed for that extended period of time and if they can teach it wouldn't take that long to understand...extending school hours and days would be useless from where i'm from class sizes are huge going from 15-20 kids to 40 kids, teachers can't even help all the students even with extended time and teachers getting laid off as well education in my state is messed up

  • Exactly...and if you really wanna extend the time, extend it on your own and with the teacher..most teachers I know stay after school for an hour, and they always offer to help unless they have a meeting to run to.

We had the same thing here...or there's this messed up system called "seniority", which is, the teacher teaching the longest will have the job over a teacher that's younger.

We had a REALLY good teacher in French and Art, the students loved him. But he had to move cuz of this system

  • OMG.. mine too!! she was a french teacher as well and everyone loved her. she was a really good teacher too.. now all we have left are the crappier boring ones >__> i know school isnt exactly suppose to be "fun" but at least entertain us for a bit while having to sit for like 2 hours @___@

  • i'm 13 and i'm ok in every subject. my best is math (goemetry) and i already hve tons of homework every day. i live in california and for a state writng test we had to write about why skools should take two weeks out of summer vacation away and make the skool year longer or to extend times and days.. my skool starts at 7:50 am and it ends at 2:08pm.. and next year it'll be from 7:30am to 4:30 or 5pm. i find this cruel........

  • Facts (or so i think): -The US government pay the school fund based on the neighborhood the school is located in and the tax that they people who lives there pay.

    - The Canadian government pay the school fund based on the amount of students attending the school. =)

    At least.. that's what i believe. :)

  • Not too sure about the Canadian one, because the government has just cut funding in to the Visual arts sector, and my school may be small compared to other universities, but my entire school is being affected along with the schools who have visual arts programs in their curriculum...which is pretty much every school.

Not sure about the highschool vs uni though.

  • Ah.. Yeah I guess I should have said highschool for that xDD;; My bad. But yeah, personally i'm not in uni myself so I can't say anything 100% =DD -muahaha-

  • Good rant/points. Gosh, I hope this plan does not execute. With longer hours of school, when would any kid have time to do...oh let me think...anything? People have jobs, sports, clubs, LIVES. I know people who don't get home until 10:00 p.m. as it were, due to extracurriculars. With so many current health studies on teen sleep deprivation I cannot believe something like this was even suggested.

  • yeah that's so true, i attended like all my classes and lectures and i failed all my mid-term exams.. i didnt study but i assumed sittin in the classes wud make me learn something T_T i just played games and ate

  • hehe.

  • Ok..well,test comment? I made long comments but they dont seem to show up...Hm? (Igrone this comment, lol)

  • Youtube does that some times, even to me.

Just post a while later or something and it should work

    if you're posting a link, probably won't.

  • your a girl?

  • there is no way this would work

in my high school (in in the usa btw) so many teachers have been cut that i am forced to take a class outside my school, at ''adult school'' so that i can grad on time,(because i failed a class last year)

and i also have to take a class at the near by college because my school cant afford to have more language classes, and i just cant learn spanish

(i hate the limit on letters, im going to make a 2nd message with the rest)

  • i think i went off track a little but to the point,my teachers suck, and my high school sucks

but i do have one teacher i really like right now and am amazed that i can learn physics

he just makes it really easy and fun

  • And those teachers are the best...

But wow...I didn't know it coudl be that bad =\

  • I'm not good at math either but uhh for a 13 year old i have pretty logic thinking.

  • Most teachers I have met are incompetent of teaching and have questions on the test, where we werent taught in class.Worst of all, when you try to correct them, they might give you attitude or just ignore you.

I hate it when my parents compares me to those Chinese students. My Moms like, "why couldnt you be like that? and I reply "If you like them so much adopt one!" xD BTW. Youre gonna have youre hundredth video soon! Congrats =]

  • I wish i had the guts to say that to my mom...I'd just stay silent and be really pissed off.

Oh serious? LOL I never noticed

  • wow dude gayest shit ever i don't like long hours in school . but i heard one of my friends said in my school that "barrack obama" is going to make summer one month and i was wtf are you for real? and i was such bs dude..

  • Oh yeah I agree. I agree with anything you say baby. :)

JUST KIDDING THAT SOUNDED SO STALKER!

  • you don't get math cuz you're an art major!!! lol jk well if it passes I'm just glad I just graduated lol I think it's stupid to do that kids are just gona sleep more in class. Public education in some parts of the country sucks so he's trying to fix it but is going about it wrong. He should make the teachers better cuz there are some teachers who also don't give a crap and the students who don't care it's their fault. It's survival of the fittest out in the world.

  • I agree...though it's hard to really rate teachers, but I see that Obama's trying to improve education, but as you said, he's going about it the wrong way.

  • "Ever had a course where the textbook made more sense than the teacher?"

Oh gosh, that's what's going on in my CAD class. Except the textbook doesn't make much sense either.

My teacher just sits down at the beginning of class and tells us to do chapter 15, and that's basically all he says for the rest of class.

It's been 9 weeks, and all I've learned is how to make lines on a program 72 different ways.

  • LMAO WIN

But yeah, I've had that before...the textbook was written by Oxford and, god, they feel some kinda desperate need to make everything sound so smart. Thankfully, our teacher was nice and understanding so yeah X]

  • eh x.x

I also suck in math and I'm also asian :\

I completely agree with you because of the people who don't give a crap about school

  • The big problem with education is the fact teachers are taught in the School of Education in college. This is home to the weakest professors on any campus.

If a teacher wants to teach English then study English.

If she wants to teach math then study math.

Don't take all the fluffy education BS.

  • In our system, there's a course where you have ot take your major and also a course (lasts about a year or so if I remember correctly) to become a teacher/get your teaching degree.

  • That wink at the end was soo sexy. x]

  • your right my last year i was bearly there lmao i didnt care anymore but i still got my dipolma

  • Lol i know a bunch of guys who gave up a long time ago...but they still barely passed everything to graduate. Funny guys though, and really nice.

  • more school hours ? ugh..

some students would probably be so pissed at that and just complain & think about how unfair school/Obama is and thus, they couldn't concentrate on the lesson and would eventually get bad marks ._.

    lol jk

but yea, i so not agree to Obama there..

all that you said is so true..

Quality over quantity is so right ! and the real problem is the lack of enthusiasm of the students to learn !

  • Btw Euge, the way you talked in some parts of this video reminded me of some info-commercial about kids starving in Africa. LOL

  • THANKS NHI. THANKS. LOL

  • What we lack is logical people. LOLOL

  • its a good thing im not in high school any more...i understand what ya said..,but in countires like that...even though there school days ar elonger...they also have the highest sucide rate in teens...than anywhere else...

  • yes, teachers do suck at teaching most of the time. lol some are cool

  • My school just changed its whole schedule, from a regular six to seven class schedule to a 4x4 block schedule. I was really worried that it was going to affect my grades, because i am a straight A student. But surprisingly, it's turning out really well, even though we're doing a month and a half's work in about one or two weeks. I'm just glad that I'm able to grasp the subjects easily.

Now all I have to worry about is college next fall. :/

  • Budget cuts ^^" They are being really mean and high schools are getting like, a 4th of what other schools do. They give magnet high schools lots though >.>

  • See, they have this thing called a block schedule. I just started high school but when I was in middle school they had this thing called a block schedule? You take your 6 classes and turn them into 8. 4 classes a day. Math and English are everyday. With this, it makes each class 80 minutes. ^^ It works.

  • I had something along those lines...same time length and same block...but math and english was per semester.

Had a semester system instead of linear.

  • Psh. I wish I had math semester >D

  • I'm not that good in math either..

    i get like B+

and im like a straight A student...

but math is the only subjcet i get a B in...

  • you're a sensible person

  • I actually dont care about politics & education because, like u mentioned, im not a person who cares much about it. But I totally agree with you :]]

Its unreasonable to raise tax for those that dont care, but rather invest it on your childs education

  • I TOTALLY agree!! I can relate to everything that you mentioned in your video.. especially the teachers who can't teach part.. Teachers should LOVE what they're teaching, hell, that's WHY they decided to become a teacher for ____ (insert subject here) anyways! I had this calculus teacher ( thank JESUS I switched out x - x) that didn't know a shit what he was doing because he didn't KNOW calculus! Obama definitely doens't know what goes on in school.. You should get your video to him somehow~ :)

  • LOL I don't think that'd be possible.

But I know, ugh. Some teachers love their subject, just hate teaching. Or being a teacher is the only thing they can do as a backup.

Some who love to teach, just need some practice though.

  • Obama's over-analyzing the whole thing.

It's good to think for the kids of the nation but honestly would lengthened periods of class time really be beneficial?

During my many high school psychology classes I was taught a lot about external stimulus versus personal drive. Any textbook will tell one that studies show a child is more likely to put as much energy into something they feel dedicated towards rather than being forced.

Lengthening the time period is just really unnecessary ._.

  • Actually, I learned that lesson through life experience in elementary. Quite clearly, my English mark was dropping compared to my Art and Math, simply because I hated the book we were reading for English. Lol.

But that's the thing, so many people, as we grow older, absolutely forget such an idea. They just go along with it, not thinking much of it.

  • Well, let me rephrase; they were summer highschool classes :P

I'm in middle school and likewise I had more or less the same experience =\

The sad part about it is; we can always rant about it all we want, however if no one actually does anything to change any of it, well it's just sort of sad since it doesn't really accomplish much besides raise awareness o:

  • True, but I'm in Canada with almost no knowledge of how the US system works...quite a lot to do on my part if I do do something. I mean, even though I'm in Canada and I most likely won't be affected by this, any time soon, I still think it's horrible.

  • YOURE IN CANADA? ME TOOO ;D YEEEE what part of canada?

  • funny how you mentioned the textbook vs. teacher issue.

Last year, my science teacher basically taught directly from the textbook. Although it sounds like a good thing, it was much worse.

Most of the things he taught us made very little sense and was quite confusing. He spent too much time on trying to convert the textbook into his own words.

Hah, I bet if I read the textbook, instead of his notes (which he insisted on referring to) I would have had better marks.

  • I currently have a teacher that teaches an academic lecture thing, sort of like history, who reads a script that I THINK he wrote himself..and he pauses for 5 minutes trying to sound smooth.

The best teachers I learned from NEVER used the textbook, or if they did, they'd refer to one page. My biology teacher, the best, wrote his own notes for us.

  • EXACTLY!

If anything, id rather have a textbook than a bad teacher. I found that I learned the most from the teachers who really knew their stuff

My thoughts in that class constantly came across the usual "whats the point in him being here. We could probably learn more without him."

My problem with teachers who live by the book is that it makes me feel as if THEY don't understand what they teach us.

  • I understand whatcha mean.

The problem is not that the teachers don't know what they're teaching, they just don't know how to teach it cuz they know everything, and then they don't, or can't remember how it feels like to not know anything at all.

Then again, some teachers just admit that they're actually a teacher for another subject and got subbed in LOL

  • I at least understand where the subs come from. But with the ones that teach poorly, it starts to get quite irritating.

One incident that triggered my thoughts against him was when we came across a question that troubled us. So we ask for help and what does he do? He takes a quick glance at the paper and says "I don't know", going back to work.

Although his IDK bugged me, the thing that really pissed me off was that he did not (and did not look like he intended to) at least TRY to help us.

  • Wow...now that just sucks. =|

  • Hell no. He's trying kill us. I mean I drink unhealthy energy drinks to wake me. But if I were to join a sports team, like cross country and go home, I'd probably drink another energy drink to keep me awake so I can do my homework. And if I were to sleep after sports club, it'd probably be morning and NOTHING will be done for ME. And Saturdays ? Dude. What about chilling with friends ? Some people can't even chill on Sundays due to religious beliefs. Not a good idea.

  • Lol watching this makes me feel like I have no child freedom. Most likely, because I'm Asian. I have to go to after from 3Pm-7Pm everyday, Saturday 8am-3pm.

    Summer- 5days a week 8am-3pm.

Btw, he's also shortening the school vacation days, such as summer school. which means causing people go to summer school have around 5 days of Summer Vacation. Shorter than a winter one. -Sigh-

  • Yeah! i think you'll make a great inspirational speak ^^

  • Lol, true. I mean they really need better teachers/ strengthen the curriculum. Not longer school hours. I mean srsly. Who the hell is going to go to school longer than before. Kids now aren't even motivated. What makes Obama think that making longer school will help us? I mean more and more kids dropping out at 16 is the best answer I can come up with for his suggestion

  • More school days = more learning :) and with the shorter gap between summer vac. and first day of school it may help the students remember what they learned... it can be beneficial in some way.

And the thing about cutters, there will always be students who cuts class it is inevitable :)

this is the longest comment i've posted @_@

  • That's the thing though (aside from not being able to afford summer school/tutor), students who don't go obviously don't want to. Forcing them may cram more information in to them, but they might just resent it or do it to pass.

Most of my teachers usher the students in though by a little review of the previous year.

BTW, adding your 1% thing in to the video.

  • Yeh, I'm sure all schools have a 1 or 2 day review of what they learned the previous yr especially in math. your favorite subject~ haha

  • Definitely...I got a C+ in that test. LOL

  • I'll help you get A's, if you would write all my english papers :3

  • I don't need to do math anymore :D LOL

  • Comment removed

  • U.S spends about 1% of tax dollars on education...

I believe Obama should extend school days by shortening summer vac. Not all students goes to summer school or can afford it. Plus i think the 2.5 months of freedom is too much. Sure, i did enjoy summer vac. but when i go back to school i don't remember shit that i learned from the previous year.

  • i hope they dun do that eh =[ cause they're spending more time at skoo then home meaning lower amount of time knowing family lol

  • I reeeeaally enjoy your videos, I learn a lot =)

    Btw, I like your necklace

When I saw that I was in the SHUPER AWEZUM COMMUNTZ for the first time, I BLOOOMED WITH HAPPINESS xD aha.

    Keep making your videos! :D

  • That wink was just hot. xDD;

    >>; Aside from that,

Longer hours would be so much of a drag.

Just trying to understand more concepts of the classes and trying to squeeze sports, clubs, activities and "me" time would be unbearable. I mean, heck. Coming out at 3 including Sports and clubs, I always find myself rushing to finish my homework.

    o___e; Is that normal?

    e___e;

  • you should be like a spokesperson, i'd listen to you LOL

  • Any longer hours and I'd start ditching school. Just kidding but, I'd want to.

  • I'd want to too.

  • Glad you agree. :)

  • you should run for prez

  • I know right? She totally should!

  • Way too much work LOL and, quite sadly, I'd lose because i'm homosexual and transgender.

  • I personally think that they are trying to keep kids in school longer to keep them off the job market...

  • You're so much smarter than a lot of adults. You should run for president!! =D I agree with everything you said.

  • LOL too much work to run for prez
