@jaco319 alot of people would think that's a stupid question, but man.. if nobody's ever told you, how are you gonna know? it's actually a Semi Acoustic guitar .. meaning it is an acoustic, but I can also connect a guitar lead into it, and run it through any effect pedals. in this case, I was using my Boss MT-2 Metal Zone distortion pedal.

for tabs, I just used Guitar Pro. I played the song in Drop D tuning but apparently that is incorrect. still sounds ok to me.....

its funny you should mention that. I don't know personally because I'm not a member of Gojira, but this particular song does work in Drop D. its the only one of theirs that does. funnily enough the tabs I got for this song were transcribed in Drop D.

Ok i would hate to say your wrong but... you are. First before it goes into the chugging part right after the break they do an open strum of the top four strings... second they only play in octave power chords except for the open D chord. So your playing them as normal power chords... but there not.

oops also forgot to mention they play 4th power cords for the chugging part which would be impossible for drop D... or at least incredibly difficult and foolish.

ok, I don't want to get into a big argument here, so if you'd kindly upload a video or audio file of you playing it correctly, so I can see where I go wrong, that'd be greatly appreciated.

also, I have just searched through 50 online tabs with google (from sheet music, guitar tabs and guitar pro files) and EVERY single one of them have Drop D tuning.

I don't mind being proven wrong, as long as you can backup what you're saying by showing me.

yeah I've played with the EQ and got a better tone out of it. by the way, its not a $20. minger. it was actually $130. and isn't too bad.

as for the acoustic guitar, it was easier to tune to Drop D than it was to tune my electric from Open C to Drop D. had to play with the MT2 pedal for a bit to try and get this tone.

thanks! its a Freedom Semi Acoustic guitar. I connected it to my MT-2 Metal Zone pedal, which was connected to my MX400 mixer, which was connected to my PC. that's how I can get this overdrive sound with it.
