in the case of pat boone (covering little richard) georgia gibbs (lavern baker) and johnny ray (clyde mcphatter) i totally agree with you but i wouldn't put presley in that camp. i always felt he gave black music the proper respect. elvis would do an original song ("heartbreak hotel") and invest it with a black feel, whereas pat boone would ruin a good r&b song with his treacly voice and arrangements.
