I have a 1968 firebird myself, I am looking to do something to really improve horsepower...turbocharger, supercharger? I'm not sure what would be best. its a 400 with a 2 barrel carb. 4 speed. some input would be nice! thanks!

@OfficialEpisodes If money is no object I would go with a procharger. If not, a 400 can make some respectable horsepower with the right parts...cam etc.. nitrous would be nice ..but you have to be careful or you will blow it up quick. I would search the internet for ideas.good luck.
@birdboy68 A pontiac 400 engine can be easily modified to create more horses. Get a 4barrel edelbrock aftermarket intake, some headers, and a more agressive cam, and depending on the shape of the motor, you could be looking at about 400ish hp. a set of aluminium heads will be expensive but it could probably put you close to that 500hp range. there is no need for a turbo/supercharger. no way with the NOS, that's too modified for a driver.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Mercedes vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and EFi injectors clean as new!
I know this is debateable! But..i like these more then the camaros =p..well ive only seen 1 of these in person at a show and ive seen the 60's maros at least a dozen different times and diff cars..love that front end// :o
@birdboy68 Awesome...I wanna get a 68 bird and a camaro...one for me and for my girl..its good to see someone who actually cares bout there car..keeping it since 86..very nice..I know more then a few people with high valuable cars and either neglect them or destroy them.
