Amen! I haven't seen this vid in ages, though, this woman knows what she is talking about. Though, I have a great deal of fondness for some of his other wives, Katherine will always be queen of my heart.
I agree, Kate is the one for me. A true patriot to this country - unlike her treasonous husband who started pointless wars and was prepared to risk civil war and possibly even foreign invasion just so he could get a younger woman.
Absolutely! The one true wife to that bloodied tyrant!
What did Churchill call him? The biggest Blot on the page of english history! I think it was a blot of ink though from his pen when he was writing one of his histories! :))
Anne Boleyn will always be my favorite of all the wives, but KOA was always the second favorite for me. She was put through hell and through it all held her head high with great dignity. I just think Henry got bored with her after awhile, and of course the fact she couldn't bear him a son only made a bad situation worse.
Katherine of Aragon was not only the most loyal of all henry's wives, but she was also the greatest queen. she ruled as regent and commanded an army against the scots, which proved her leadership skills. she was also greatly loved by all the people, not just the english but also european. she was also a strong woman. it takes a great woman to fight against the english parliament for a many years and still not give in a compromise herself. she lived as she died, with great honor and as a queen

to be honest i think in order of the best wives goes Jane because she fufilled all duties, Katherine of Aragon because she remained true all the way, Anne of Cleaves because she was constantly loyal, Katherine Parr because she brought the tudors together in the last years, Anne Boleyn she did give Henry a hard time but also was a mother of Elizabeth, Katherine Howard last because i think that no matter what the circumstances were she wouldnt had been best for Henry

Catherine of Aragon was was his First true wife, Anne Boleyn was in essence a Home wrecker, Jane Seymour; on the other hand was a true wife. She did help to start the downfall of Anne Boleyn, but most people don't hold that against her. Anne of Cleves was all and all a victim of Henry's ego and picky tastes. Catherine Howard was a giddy teenager, unable to control herself, and unlike Anne, actually had an affair. Catherine Parr was the finisher in sealing the reformation and Survived Henry.
how can you call Catherine Parr a harlot? She was a virtuous woman who was a mother to Elizabeth and Mary and had a brain in an era when it was unheard of for a woman!
@devane85 People don't just stop needing mothers when they leave childhood. People need a mother figure throughout their life- why do you think people are so sad when their parents/parental figures die in adult life?
Katherine Howard was an idiot-I'm trying to just insult her, but the girl was really a mental brick. She wasn't taken care of at her aunts and may have been sexually assulted, and she was a little girl. No one thought shed advance far and so she wasn't given an education beyond "charm school" really.
What are you talking about?! I said and she was sexualy assulted to show she wasn't taken care of as a child-thats it! My heart goes out to her, but she was destined by neglagance to come to a bad end.

katharinethequene - You must be reading my mind, or something (lol). I was just looking at that video about 2 minutes ago. I saw all those thumbs down. Anne Boleyn fans will always find a way to take up for her, but they will never convince me she was the best Queen. That's absurd!

Karenjade - Tell me about it. The thumbs down on that video are incredible. It's laughable. I think we all know who the best Queen was. Some people just don't want to admit it.
Each woman Henry married was spectacular in her own right. I might not like all of them, but that's true of life - you can't get along with everybody. I think we should celebrate each lady in her own right, and remember that each was Queen and a Queen of England no less.
I can't actually see the comment your replied to because its been thumbed down so much lol. I think its something like 'Anne was more unique' or whatever. I don't think that all his wives were spectacular...many were (God knows he had enough of them) I can appreciate what your are saying though, some of them which I don't agree with were important Queens...Also yeah, they should all be celebrated. Where would 'Divorced, Behead, Died...Divorced, Beheaded, Survived' be without them?
Oh yes, each one was spectacular in her own right. Every person is spectacular in their own right, each should be celebrated by women because they were women who definately broke the mold. And eventhough I don't like her, I include Jane Seymour in that too.
I appreciate what your saying. I don't dislike Jane Seymour, I think she did many admirable things...or well, tried to. With Mary...and in the Pilgramige of Grace. However, I don't think she broke the mold, she was a product of her age and behaved as a woman of the time was expected to...
Ohh wow okay, fair enough. Where did you look at this letter I would be interested to see it. Though I think the whole human race will stick with 'Boleyn' lol.
LOL why am I getting thumbs down. I'm being nice about ALL of them, saying they should all be celebrated and recognised as talented ladies. Jeepers, tough crowd.
Well she tried a uniuqe way of dealing with Henry. I mean, submitting and being gentle and quietly pleading the plight of the rebels was quite smart. I'll give her that. Its just Katherine Howard was better at it, she got a few people saved from execution.

I agree that Katherine Howard was, in her short time, more successful as a Queen. She did sort of help people keep their heads (though she did lose hers quite speedily) and was the first of Henry's wives to properly extend the hand of friendship to Elizabeth (obviously excluding Anne B). She also treated Anne of Cleves with much more kindness than Anne Boleyn ever treated Catherine of Aragon or Mary I. She was not so influential on the course of history...but nevertheless, I think, a good Queen
Katherine Howard didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was young, and was never treated properly. She was, as reports go like a big sister to Elizabeth, she often sent little tokens of her affection and over saw the referbishments in one of the places Elizabeth was staying in. She was very kind, just not looked after properly. Besides, according to Starkey the affair with Culpepper might not have been physical.

*continued* her life...and abandoned by everyone. Certainly not looked after properly. She didn't have the education of some of Henry's other wives, making her even more suseptable to it. On the otherhand Jane Seymour. I think it was admirable that she pled the case of Aske and the other rebels. However, she utterly failed at it, so it wasn't really 'smart'. Also, being submissive to one's husband was the norm in those days. Catherine and Anne (B) were exceptions to that norm. My order is:
1.Anne Boleyn and Katherine Parr(both amazing,educated,bold,free-thinking women far before their time&both influential)
2.Catherine of Aragon(effective queen,also very educated,good wife,but too superstitious to me)
4.Anna of Cleves(a real survivor, smart enough to make the best out of a bad situation)
5.Jane Seymour(smart enough to keep her mouth shut, and ok,she was the only one to give a son to Henry, but hey, that's more luck than accomplishment!)
6.Katheryn Howard(a poor teenager)
