  • I think Henry really loved her in the beginning, but it faded as he became more and more eager for a son.

  • Its Cathrine Of Aragon Not Kathrine Of Aragon!!!

  • Ol' Katherine of Aragon may well have been the first, best truest wife of Henry VIII, but she sure as hell had lousy taste in head wear.........

  • catherine of aragon was his true wife and he should of never left her.

  • Amen! I haven't seen this vid in ages, though, this woman knows what she is talking about. Though, I have a great deal of fondness for some of his other wives, Katherine will always be queen of my heart.

  • Oh! A commercial. ;)

  • I agree, Kate is the one for me. A true patriot to this country - unlike her treasonous husband who started pointless wars and was prepared to risk civil war and possibly even foreign invasion just so he could get a younger woman.

As a second choice I will have Catherine Parr.

  • Absolutely! The one true wife to that bloodied tyrant!

What did Churchill call him? The biggest Blot on the page of english history! I think it was a blot of ink though from his pen when he was writing one of his histories! :))

  • i think whichever one of henry VIII wives a girl or woman is interested in most, shows alot about that womans character.

  • I was more fascinated by Katherine Howard than I was the rest of them

  • queen catrin of arogant and prejeduse.. what a history .. what a nasty culture ...

  • Queen Katherine kicked ass. She endured humiliation and heartache on a scale that would have made most of us start cutting bitches.

But she remained regal and strong, something that I admire greatly.

  • Anne Boleyn will always be my favorite of all the wives, but KOA was always the second favorite for me. She was put through hell and through it all held her head high with great dignity. I just think Henry got bored with her after awhile, and of course the fact she couldn't bear him a son only made a bad situation worse.

  • Henry shouldn't have divorced her-- she was the best thing for him. First mistake, right there.

  • Yuck. No way.. You are taking sides, woman. >p

  • Basically, Katherine was a BAMF. ;)

  • Katherine forever and ever !!!!

  • Katherine of Aragon was not only the most loyal of all henry's wives, but she was also the greatest queen. she ruled as regent and commanded an army against the scots, which proved her leadership skills. she was also greatly loved by all the people, not just the english but also european. she was also a strong woman. it takes a great woman to fight against the english parliament for a many years and still not give in a compromise herself. she lived as she died, with great honor and as a queen

  • My order is:

1.Anne Boleyn and Katherine Parr(both amazing,educated,bold,free-thinking women far before their time&both influential)

    2.Catherine of Aragon(effective queen,also very educated,good wife,but too superstitious to me)

4.Anna of Cleves(a real survivor, smart enough to make the best out of a bad situation)

5.Jane Seymour(smart enough to keep her mouth shut, and ok,she was the only one to give a son to Henry, but hey, that's more luck than accomplishment!)

    6.Katheryn Howard(a poor teenager)

  • I'm sorry I've been so rude.

  • In all fairness, Anne survived him as well. She was named the King's 'Sister' after their divorce.

  • Truer words could not be said, Katherine was the ONLY Queen for Henry... the others were wenching harlots....

  • what about Catherine Parr?!

  • how can you call Catherine Parr a harlot? She was a virtuous woman who was a mother to Elizabeth and Mary and had a brain in an era when it was unheard of for a woman!

  • Catherine Parr was not a "mother" to Mary. Mary was nearly thirty when her father and Catherine married.

  • @devane85 People don't just stop needing mothers when they leave childhood. People need a mother figure throughout their life- why do you think people are so sad when their parents/parental figures die in adult life?

  • How dare you say that about Anne of Cleves and Catherine Parr!

  • Love the way she's trying to convince us...

  • Don't like It. All she does is talk talk talk and can't keep her mouth shut.

  • I could say the same for the guy who endorses Anne Boleyn. Don't like it? Then don't watch.

  • How else is she to communicate? Pantamime?

  • I think Catherine Howard had a right to question her marriage because she was as young as 14 or 15 while Henry was 48. Enough said.

  • Katherine Howard was an idiot-I'm trying to just insult her, but the girl was really a mental brick. She wasn't taken care of at her aunts and may have been sexually assulted, and she was a little girl. No one thought shed advance far and so she wasn't given an education beyond "charm school" really.

  • would you call anyone who was sexually assaulted an idiot?

  • What are you talking about?! I said and she was sexualy assulted to show she wasn't taken care of as a child-thats it! My heart goes out to her, but she was destined by neglagance to come to a bad end.

  • sorry, I've been sexually assaulted myself, and the way you worded it caused me to take offense. Sorry!

  • who else was he going to be buried next to?

  • Reina Catalina!

  • ok, we know how you feel.

  • she was always my favourite queen!

  • Everyone has their opinions!!! Why would someone not want to admit something even if they think true, particularly when it doen't matter anymore!

  • Each woman Henry married was spectacular in her own right. I might not like all of them, but that's true of life - you can't get along with everybody. I think we should celebrate each lady in her own right, and remember that each was Queen and a Queen of England no less.

  • I can't actually see the comment your replied to because its been thumbed down so much lol. I think its something like 'Anne was more unique' or whatever. I don't think that all his wives were spectacular...many were (God knows he had enough of them) I can appreciate what your are saying though, some of them which I don't agree with were important Queens...Also yeah, they should all be celebrated. Where would 'Divorced, Behead, Died...Divorced, Beheaded, Survived' be without them?

  • Oh yes, each one was spectacular in her own right. Every person is spectacular in their own right, each should be celebrated by women because they were women who definately broke the mold. And eventhough I don't like her, I include Jane Seymour in that too.

  • I appreciate what your saying. I don't dislike Jane Seymour, I think she did many admirable things...or well, tried to. With Mary...and in the Pilgramige of Grace. However, I don't think she broke the mold, she was a product of her age and behaved as a woman of the time was expected to...

  • Nope, as a matter of fact I was just looking at a letter she wrote in the late 1520s/early 1530s and it said "Bullen"

  • Ohh wow okay, fair enough. Where did you look at this letter I would be interested to see it. Though I think the whole human race will stick with 'Boleyn' lol.

  • She was queen in the early '30's so your theory that she changed it goes a little wrong...

  • She was Queen - that's when she came to power. So if its true then it does make sense, doesn't it?

  • LOL why am I getting thumbs down. I'm being nice about ALL of them, saying they should all be celebrated and recognised as talented ladies. Jeepers, tough crowd.

  • lol...everyone has their favourites. No one should get thumbed down for it. I have something nice to about all of them too :)

Just I don't see where you get Jane Seymour breaking the mold from.

  • Well she tried a uniuqe way of dealing with Henry. I mean, submitting and being gentle and quietly pleading the plight of the rebels was quite smart. I'll give her that. Its just Katherine Howard was better at it, she got a few people saved from execution.

  • Katherine Howard didn't have a mean bone in her body. She was young, and was never treated properly. She was, as reports go like a big sister to Elizabeth, she often sent little tokens of her affection and over saw the referbishments in one of the places Elizabeth was staying in. She was very kind, just not looked after properly. Besides, according to Starkey the affair with Culpepper might not have been physical.

  • I prefer Aragon to Howard

  • On the otherhand Jane Seymour. I think it was admirable that she pled the case of Aske and the other rebels. However, she utterly failed at it, so it wasn't really 'smart'. Also, being submissive to one's husband was the norm in those days. Catherine and Anne (B) were exceptions to that norm. So it wasn't really smart, just common sense, the done thing in those times...When you get to Kathryn Parr she saves her life with the line 'I am no stronger than my sex' LOL how many times have we heard

  • *continued* that throughout history?

  • Its Boleyn...

  • Before Anne came into power the whole family spelt it Bullen/Bulen but then they changed the spelling

  • Are you sure? I thought it was corrupted in the period when the family was in France...long before she came to power.

  • it was...

  • No, the father changed it when he went to France. Either way, its Boleyn.
