  • jessica cleaves is in poor health these days she's very ill her wild partying lifestyle caught up with her. the rock and roll lifestyle took its toll on p funk. boogie's mosson's in bad shape. and belita woods had open heart surgery a few months ago.

  • @sin6975 did it ever occur to U that these people R also old? Hell, George C. is about 74

  • this dude Phillipe i found out after 38 yrs he could be my father. what a waiste of years bro.

  • @jkent773 what???

  • Why? Phillipe.

  • A GOOD ARMY GRADUATION SONG! LOL!

  • Whoever is drumming i guess Dennis is really dropping that one. It has so much I do not think its Dennis Chambers.

  • saw this show in Columbus Ohio. George wasn't touring then but they still rocked the joint! seeing this live i can remember it was loud and you could see all of the instruments that made Funkadelic unique and 1 of the best bands in the world!

  • forever a Spinner.....bittersweet yet beautiful...love live The P.

  • 128 this song gets on point

  • A couple other people were sure it is Jessica Cleaves. Another person said Marian "Babs" Anderson. I love her vibe and would love to know who she is. She's really got that 60s, 70s thing going on, which is my favorite era.

  • What a change, from the fantastic Spinners to the shitty Funkadelic. Sorry gang but Funkadelic aren't nearly as good live as on record.

  • @1980Triumph SO SO TRUE. tHATS WHY I'M NOT GOING 2 C THEM AUG 28 IN ST.LOUIS.

  • @1980Triumph I beg to differ. Phillippe just showed his versatility. Remember, He was with Bootsy in then band "The Pacesetters" then later, "The House Guest" .

  • @KingMellow11

It was no diss to Phillipe, it was a diss to Funkadelic who is horrible live

  • I used to think it was Garry singing this song

  • @ep784 NO!!!! Phillippe Wynn former lead singer of the Spinners!!

  • the lady in the bodysuit is Jessica Cleaves

  • Thanks for getting back to me. I heard this dvd may be available somewhere on the internet, do you have any idea where I can find it. Love Phillipe Wynne.

  • Who is the lady in the bodysuit. Please let me know. Love Phillipe.

  • @shag112002 I'm really not sure, but if I had to guess, I would say it was Babs Stewart, "bridesmaid" for The Brides Of Funkenstein, but I am probably mistaken. Perhaps one of the hardcore funkateers on here knows for certain...

  • Comment removed

  • @shag112002 It's the one and only Jessica Cleaves. (Not Babs.)

  • @shag112002 My best guess is Lynn Mabry, in 79 - The main stays were the brides of funkenstein and parlet.

  • @mrroye

Lynn had quit by then. I also think its Jessica

  • @shag112002 It's Jessica Cleaves.

  • Philippe Wynne with Funkadelic = BRILLIANT

  • WHO IS THE GIRL IN PURPLE?

  • WHO IS THE LADY IN THE BODY SUIT?

  • PFunk lost 3 great singers: Glenn Lamonte Goins in 1978,Phillippe Wynne in 1984, and Ray Davis in 2005.

The Funk hasn't been the same since!

  • @funkfan48 They also lost eddie hazel but funk was taken over by disco in the late seventies. Parlament last hit was Atomic Dog. Cameo, Zapp and Lakeside was the Parlament of the 80s

  • God bless Phillepe, I had the pleasure of working with hin on his solo tour after he left the Spinners, playing sax, and conducting the band for him..it was a blast

  • Funk brought to you from Cincinnati's own Phillipe Wynne R.I.P.

  • Loved Philippe's voice. I played this over and over again all thru 1980.

  • @RonthaRon He was with the Spinners also: My Love, Could It Be I'm Falling in Love, etc., One of the greatest.

  • @RonthaRon I'm playing this video over over because of Phillipe, and the lady in the bodysuit. And, also for the funk. Do you know who the lady in the bodysuit is?

  • God given talent! Gone way to soon!

    RIp

  • @MrFanaddict Ditto. Saw him with the Spinners too, and he was great.

  • whats the name of the light skinned Funkenstein?

  • renee stop being so devilish phillip soulwalker wynn is the best. u owe all these people on here a apology

  • this is a mess!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You know NOTHING about FUNK or Soul!! Mr. Wynn one of the greatest singers ever!!!!!!! Are u sick?

  • @ReneeArnold Get the funk out then.

  • @shag112002 .... tsk tsk tsk... 6 months later and it is still a mess.

  • PHILLEPE put his HEART into it LITERALLY ~ He was an AWESOME showman, My mom Loved him & made me know him at a Young Age ~ I'm so GRATEFUL to her for that

    Love Funkadelic & The Spinners :~}

    R.I.P. Phillepe

  • You couldn't put it any better.. Phillepe and the Spinners don't get the credit they deserve.. Up there with the TEMPS!!!! God bless Phillepe!!!!

  • Hell i sign up 30yrs ago.......an still luv it...

  • phillippe wynne makes this hole album funksters.baleve dat

  • RIP Phillipe Wynne and he did make this album rock.

  • Tiki Ruled The DRUMS!

  • Uncle jams live? Cool! XD

  • "Uncle Jam Wants To Funk With You" hell yeah!!! I had the "Uncle Jam Wants You" growing up on 33 rpm wax. I wore the hell out of that album. This song rules! Nothing like it then and nothing like it since! This song got heavy rotation on my little shitkicker record player. I'm still a member of Uncle Jam's Army! I've been on groove maneuvers for years! A veteran of the funk in fact! Uncle Jam rescues dance music from the blahs, hell yeah! Funkadelic your groove is eternal and the jam rocks on!!!

  • IU saw them perform this in Greensboro, North Carolina. Although George wasn't there, Phillippe Wynne kicked it up a notch or two!

He even wore a white three piece suit, white tie, red shirt, red handkerchief, and he had a white cane! He was decked to the nine! Although that was 1979, I still haven't forgot that!

  • phillippe wynne [awesome]

  • Saw Him In Charlotte,he was wearing an Army fatique three piece suit,Uncle Jammed all the way

  • This is my absolute favorite P-Funk tune. I wish I could have seen this one live.

  • amen! Same here!

  • damn dude, you could have made the video a little darker

  • Does anyone have phillippe singing knee deep live!! I wish phillippe,Glenn, and eddie hazel were still with us! Can you imagine that line up!! And lets not forget Ray Davis!! I miss all of these funk souljas!!! PFunk for life!! God Bless george clinton and all of the parliment-funkadelic members past and present!! Thankyou for the great music and all the wonderful shows you have played all over the world! You guys are the best!!!and thats from the heart!!

    Love the music!

    Ira Tucker

  • There is a partial video of the show from Houston. It kicks off with Knee Deep. The wheels are really just starting to fall off of the mighty P-Funk machine here and by 1981they'd be riding on rims for real.

  • A very good, musical time indeed!

  • I do have to agree! Don't forget Tiki Fulwood.

    He was a great drummer.

  • Aint no need to get dirty, but you can get down!!!!! R.I.P. Phillippe Wynne!

  • This is awesome. I wished I could've seen them live. Phillipe Wynne was always a funky singer RIP.

  • Philippe Wynne was a member of Houseguests with Bootsy and Catfish Collins so he was already funky. Great gorup

  • You know your funk!!!

  • You-d you-d you-got you-gotta got-ta!

  • I was a fan of the Spinners and of Funkadelic, so when he came over to the funk, I knew it had to be good...and it was. Good and nasty. Knee-deep is still one of my favorites.

  • I'm proud to say that my name is listed on the back of this album "Uncle Jam Wants You" under Los Angeles (Woo City)....Craig A. (You gotta join)

  • ahh the funk has many tenacles!

  • It was a loss for the Spinners when Phillip left. And it was a loss for music when he passed away. What an incredible voice. His songs are incredible.

  • Thanks for the upload. This is classic Detroit funk footage. To all the funkateers, cheers!

  • Phillipe Wynn a member of Funkadelic...was just diabolical. What an addition to a already FUNKED UP musical ensemble. When I first heard him on (Not Just) Knee Deep and Uncle Jam wants you in 1979... it just knocked me out. Absolutely incredible.

  • Great clip. This is a masterpiece!!!

  • Has anyone been able to find any footage of Not Just Knee Deep in concert? I saw them perform that in Hampton, Virginia in roller skates

  • Wynne knew Bootsy Collins. They were both from Cincinnati in a band called the Pacesetters(?). Bootsy ended up with James Brown (around 1970/1971). Wynne ended up hooking up with the Spinners around that time. Bootsy and George Clinton met up around 1971/1972. Wynne didn't join up with P-Funk until the late 70's...

  • He started with the parliament funkedelics back in the 60's. The transition was from the parliament to the spinners.

  • All these years later and I'm still amazed how Phillipe Wynn made the transition from the Spinners to Funkadelic...

  • You're right...it was "Amazing" but it was an easy transition in that P-Funk was so provocative that it's music lended itself to a melodic lead floating over top all that nastiness.

  • Uncle Jam Wants You!

  • Very nice!
