Pure musical magic, that's what these two great Bluesmen always delivered. So glad & privileged that I got to see them "Live" several times. Truly sad though that I'll never get to see them on stage anymore. Sure miss Norton. Thankfully we have videos and recordings of this fabulous collaboration. For that reason I thank you for posting this.
Norton ,my friend, you aew truly missed, Thank you for sharing so much of yourself &your talent with the rest of mankind, sometimes if I stop n listen I ccan hear your harmonious melodies carried from heaven to earth on the winds, God bless your sweet souj!
Two greats who play off each other and are confident enough to weave their raw feelings into this song for the very success of it. This music sort of reaches out and grabs you and pulls at your soul. They seemed to play for old times, maybe for the long road home.
Norton, you will be sorely missed. I know you're up in heaven right now, jammin with the greats of music and playing that harmonica like theres no tomorrow. God bless you Norton Buffalo.
Brother, you were so kind and considerate to my friends, the Turks, who came to see you often at the Freight and Salvage in their wheel chairs. You always had something to laugh about. I hope you're still laughing. You are the greatest!
I love that his music completely captured my attention. He made me want to slow down, sit on the porch and listen to the music while at the same time jump up and dance my ass off! I miss him already. Peace to his family and friends.
I was already a fan when I got to meet Mr Buffalo. I was doing some work on Steve Millers Steinburger and Norton was in the band. they both treated me like new gold. Fun show to boot.
All of the top harmonica boys have their own unique sounds and the whole lot thrown at us all makes for a very colourful and entertaining life for us listeners. And apart from that bullshit I,m probably better than all of them but thats only my opinion.
Back in '98, all my Norton Buffalo was lost in a basement flood at my old home. This amazing video is the reason that I'm heading out 1st thing tomorrow and picking up any and all of the Norton Buffalo I can find. I used to love him and now this video makes me realize I still do!
your opinion, of course. i gues you know literlly every harp player out there to make such a statement. how many harp players have you ever listened to to make your judgement call. Who you think is "the best harp player" is relative to YOUR universe. Again, it's your opinion and i'll fight to the death your right to say what you feel. peace bro
I find solace & comfort in music. The lyrics contained in this song are reflective of the mood of the times. This song can actually make me feel better if I sometimes feel a little low. Music has 'that kind of ability' and is universal in it's capacity to lift spirits. I believe songs like this are 'contempory spirituals'. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.
I agree Zoogyltd, this song is very reflective of the current times. I've been a Norton Buffalo fan for years and my brother gave me the album (R&B - very punny) this came from for Christmas sometime in the 90s. I love how Rogers and Buffalo's voices blend. Both great musicians too. Too bad they haven't released more albums.
The castles of Europe are still erect the Great Wall of China hasn't fallen yet.The Greeks and the Romans were great architects and so were the Incas,Mayans & Aztec's.
The Spanish Main once ruled the seven seas but please tell me what have the blacks achieved.Harvard University was established in 1636 & William & Mary was established in 1693.
For over 300 years America was first in education,in 1954 the Brown vs board of education ruling forced American school to let blacks in causing Americanschool to drop from first place for over 300 years to violent animalistic survival zones. In 54 years we have dropped from first place to twenty fourth place. How much more are we going to take from the United States? Education in the foundation of society and when education fails society is not far behind
If we are going to prosper as a nation we the red people, yellow people and white that have an architectural history an alphabet a number system and a measure of time must take on the United States and stamp out the nigger cock roach to protect and preserve America for further intelligent hard working generations. Our love is for America and not the nigger living Uniten States. NOTE the first Civil War was not fought over black people but the next one must be.
If I watch this 5000 times I will never get enough. Please post more video's. Loving in the Valley of the Moon is forever the best and there is no better than Norton Buffalo.
couldn't agree more, Loving in the Valley of the Moon....killer album....Norton also knows hgow to pick the best musicians !!gotta love that voice ! no other like it anywhere...
in reply to thompsonlake..I have the aforementioned book circa 1980..N. Buffalo's name is very briefly mentioned (once) in a book of 125 pages filled with musical transcriptions. I bought and enoyed his album Loving in the valley of the moon" back around then. This is the first I've heard of him since,"sameness" comes to mind " the most well rounded...player in history etc"? I do like the guys stuff (whitebread can be edifying too) but really now, maybe you need to get out a little more?
True Americana ! I don't know about the best duo ever. That's up to the ear of the listener. But thanks for the post. I play harp too. And really enjoyed this one. Thanks again !
Haven't heard Norton in too long. He used to play at a little club up in Missoula when I lived there many years ago. Glad this came up on the random scroll else I likely wouldn't have found it. 2 treasures in our midst! Thanks!
Can someone tell me why this video wasn't up for a Grammy of some kind???? These guys could smoke any Nashville pretty boy act out there. God forbid they're real and not lip syncing to some silly CMC production to sell to the masses. Great stuff...
I agree with you. The people in the music industry are not going for talent. They are going for who looks good enough on a cover to sell. These tow re fantastic.
Roy used to play my high school dances in the late 60's/early 70's with his first band, 4 Way Stop at Benicia High School. One of Vallejo's favorite sons & the finest slide guitarist ever. I saw his 40th birthday gig with the Delta Rhythm Kings at Slims in S.F. many years ago.
