  • My sisters were on campus when that thing blew in and said everyone thought the apocalypse was coming!

  • IT EATING YOU

  • the camera is shaking because im holding it on the window. There was a 1/4 inch glass window that blew out in the architecture building.

  • How often do these dust storms occur in Lubbock? We don't get them in the UK so this is fascinating: is that colour for real? Crazy!

  • @ICR68 Yeah the colors are real. This doesn't happen much at all. I heard somewhere that the last time something like this happened in the states was during the dust bowl in the 1930's.

  • @tapao If that fact is correct, this then could be another sign of global warming? - just a thought. Thanks for replying.

  • @ICR68 global warming has nothing to do with this. It was a combination of a cold front coming in and a lack of rain.

  • @tapao You are right and it was just a thought! Can you tell me if it is possible to be outside in a dust storm of this magnitude (I noticed people frantically running indoors) or does the dust make it too difficult to breathe and see? I know from experience that being on a sandy beach during blustery wind is very uncomfortable but that is nothing compared to your huge dust storms! It certainly looked very ominous.

  • @YBR35 The dust made it incredibly hard to breath, I was stuck outside because I had to watch for my ride. Some of the biggest buildings on campus just up and disappeared when you were standing ion front of them.

  • @peppypuppyperson That must have been quite a frightening experience. I have read about another elderly couple who said that as they saw the wall of dust rolling in it was like the end of the world - looking at the videos I can understand their sentiments!

  • @tapao By the way, the last message from YBR35 is from ICR68 - I forgot to sign in to my own account! Woops, sorry!

  • @tapao hmmm...prolonged period, a, historic period without rain, and yet you say definitively that it has nothing to do with global warming.

  • @rhkennerly Texas has suffered from an extreme drought for most of the past year. No rain coupled with extremely tight wind pressure gradients equals massive dust storms. Global warming has little to do with this weather pattern. We have experienced some of the coldest temperatures on record as well.

  • Architecture building...that's what really trapped you on campus.

  • @styoung24 always

  • Sure makes me miss Lubbock.

  • THE MUMMY RETURNS to Texas?
