Seems like the development of this game went completely in a wrong direction.
They said they wanted to put you into the middle of "horror movie". Which the I'll say the beta l4d videos you can see looked alot more scary. Then is looked like they starting moving it another direction. which is ok. l4d was still great. l4d2 is the 100% outcome of that direction. Didn't feel like I was put inthe middle of a horror movie. Just felt like a video game. The gritty horror immersion completely gone.

I heard there was a zombie survival game and I got a hard-on. Played it, loved it. Not too many weapon options, but I was fine with that because IN REAL LIFE THE STREETS AREN'T PAVED WITH BAZOOKAS. I was on the fence at first. I was angry, but open. Ultimately, I remember thinking "I can't wait for the new campaigns, weapons, monsters, and characters in L4D." Best part of a year later they hit us with Survival Mode, and later Crash Course. They're a slap in the face - mere tokens of content.

The spitter and charger are okay. They're no less ridiculous than the specials in the the first one. l4d1 is a great game, l4d2 is just a map pack with a few new weapons. I prefer l4d1's character and setting anyway, its dark, how it should be.
We were promised lots of content that hasn't happened, all l4d2 is doing is killing l4d1's community. The sequel is a massive mistake and should have never been made so soon, valve got greedy... so fuck them.
Always loved valve, and I remember how excited I was about L4D. They promised loads of new, free content and I was looking forward to it. As the months rolled on, I was thinking "where's the SDK which was promised weeks after the release?" Finally they release a lousy game mode which must have taken an hour to code, ffs (nothing that couldn't be done with the console anyway). Then, months later, a new campaign! Two bad, unintuitive maps. And the whole time they've been making L4D2! Furious.
I've played it a bit on a friend's and there are a few new ideas in the mix but still the bare minimum for what was promised for L4D1 a year ago. I can't believe Valve. I've always supported them and now I'm so disillusioned.

Download campaigns like Dead Echo, Suicide Blitz and Death Aboard to get your fix (and possibly O.D.) I was waiting for the new campaigns too, but these were also great DLC. Not official, but still really good.
Another note I'd like to add, me and my brother were working on a campaign too, codenamed: "Still no mercy" because it was a link inbetween No mercy and Death toll.

the reason death toll and dead air wasnt available for versus immediatly is because they were filled with tons of glitches that pertained to the infected when they were doing their test plays before finalising everything, so they wanted to work out all the bugs before having those campaigns available for vs

Boycotts never work because people, especialyl gamers, are pathetic comfort addicts. Not everyone agrees with the boycott and I respect that. But SO MANY just thought "fuck it, it looks fun."
I was on the fence at first. I was angry, but open. Ultimately, I remember thinking "I can't wait for the new campaigns, weapons, monsters, and characters in L4D." Best part of a year later they hit us with Survival Mode, and later Crash Course. They're a slap in the face - mere tokens of content.

nah I played L4D2 right through to see what it was like and it was fucking awful. The chargers aren't TOO bad but the spitters? And the JOCKEY? Jesus. Oh no! I've got a midget pulling my hair! I better run towards a cliff! Makes no fucking sense.
The overall graphics are worse than the first, the characters I can live with...
I'm starting to come around to the fact that they can't afford to keep giving us free stuff, but they REALLY shouldn't have made that promise. I just don't like 2

The #1 selling point for L4D was the up-coming new content. It never happened and NEVER will.

I've boycotted l4d2, still playing the original, even paid for crash course which was short and sucked, damn you MS.
l4d1 is a great game, l4d2 is just a map pack with a few new weapons. I prefer l4d1's character and setting anyway, its dark, how it should be.
We were promised lots of content that hasn't happened, all l4d2 is doing is killing l4d1's community. The sequel is a massive mistake and should have never been made so soon, valve got greedy... so fuck them.

Always loved valve, and I remember how excited I was about L4D. They promised loads of new, free content and I was looking forward to it. As the months rolled on, I was thinking "where's the SDK which was promised weeks after the release?" Finally they release a lousy game mode which must have taken an hour to code, ffs (nothing that couldn't be done with the console anyway). Then, months later, a new campaign! Two bad, unintuitive maps. And the whole time they've been making L4D2! Furious.

I've played it a bit on a friend's and there are a few new ideas in the mix but still the bare minimum for what was promised for L4D1 a year ago. I can't believe Valve. I've always supported them and now I'm so disillusioned.

Download campaigns like Dead Echo, Suicide Blitz and Death Aboard to get your fix (and possibly O.D.) I was waiting for the new campaigns too, but these were also great DLC. Not official, but still really good.

Bro, I hate those campaigns, it's super obvious they aren't made by valve. Most of em barely use decals which makes the map way too clean.
I also noticed very bad use of lighting (which is essential for the gameplay)
Death aboard was okay with decals and lighting, but they messed up because they made it way too long and confusing.

WE BELIEVE:
-The release of Left 4 Dead 2 as a stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming.
-The announced content of Left 4 Dead 2 does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and should instead become updates (free or otherwise) for Left 4 Dead.
-Left 4 Dead has not yet received the support and content which Valve has repeatedly stated will be delivered.

For those who don't get the boycott, here is a description list copied from the steam group.
WE RECOGNIZE:
-Valve is a company with financial needs and cannot be expected to survive without the release of new games.
-Judgment cannot be passed on the quality of Left 4 Dead 2 until its release.
-Left 4 Dead was, and is, a quality game which deserves the praise of the entire gaming community.
