I remember getting the book placed in my hands in my English class and thinking "This is going to be the most boring book ever!" And then I started reading. Our teacher had assigned us certain chapters to read each day but I finished the whole book within hours along with the questions that went with it. I think this really is a beautiful and touching song. I'm only 13, but this is my favorite movie/book ever! I watched the movie and saw the play in 5th grade, and i read the book, and it is just so amazing. I cry at touching things, and I'm crying as i type this, but I think that whoever thinks this book is boring or lame you are wrong! And Greg Peck is my great-uncle or something, so I like him too! Understated, yet powerful, soundtrack work at it's best. I try not to highlight a pieces positive by comparing it to a negative, however in this case I will make an exception. I hear the subtle beauty hear, and I wish that the often over rated John Williams would take a few lessons. Yes, I know, we are talking about to completely different genres of film, never the less, there is much to be said for minimalism when it comes to backing a film.

I know people are going to disagree with this opinion but the music score is great, the directing is great, the acting is great, but the story is pretentious, fallicious, and ridiculous. Take out the boring trial, the white woman across the street who smells like peach blossoms and fresh talcum, the idiotic demonizing of the backwards southern man, one can do this by marrying Atticus directly to his black maid, thus reducing the movie to 55 minutes and, bingo, one has a a masterpiece.

This was one of those rarities when the movie did justice to the book. Harper Lee gained lasting fame for writing this masterpiece.  Not writing another book does not demean this one treasure. This was another of Elmer Berstein's gems. What a composer! The movie was cast the way one would picture them to be from reading the book.

Oh yes, I think this book and movie has changed my view of the world too. When I was talking to a friend once I said, "I saw the best and the most wonderful movie ever last night, its called To Kill A Mockingbird" my friend said, "Oh yeah, I've seen that movie, but I didn't like it because it was in black & white"

I was speechless, I guess she just didn't see the meaning of the movie, I cry everytime I see or read the book. It is so beautiful.
