I remember getting the book placed in my hands in my English class and thinking "This is going to be the most boring book ever!" And then I started reading. Our teacher had assigned us certain chapters to read each day but I finished the whole book within hours along with the questions that went with it. I'm excited to say that we'll be watching the movie in class! Does anyone know where I can buy it for myself? Anyway, not only does this story have the most heartwarming characters it has the.
I think this really is a beautiful and touching song. I'm only 13, but this is my favorite movie/book ever! I watched the movie and saw the play in 5th grade, and i read the book, and it is just so amazing. I cry at touching things, and I'm crying as i type this, but I think that whoever thinks this book is boring or lame you are wrong! And Greg Peck is my great-uncle or something, so I like him too! WATCH OR READ TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD!
This song will go down as one of the most beautiful masterpieces in the world of music. It touches my heart every time and sends chills down my back. I remember watching this in my 8th grade class. One of my most fond memories. Very moving.
I used to watch this film at night, fall asleep and wake up with the television blaring out this beautiful music. The innocence about it is so appealing.
Understated, yet powerful, soundtrack work at it's best. I try not to highlight a pieces positive by comparing it to a negative, however in this case I will make an exception. I hear the subtle beauty hear, and I wish that the often over rated John Williams would take a few lessons. Yes, I know, we are talking about to completely different genres of film, never the less, there is much to be said for minimalism when it comes to backing a film.
I've had this soundtrack for years now. This soundtrack is amazing. Thanks so much for posting it. Elmer Bernstein did some awesome stuff. So beautiful. A must for soundtrack junkies everywhere.
I know people are going to disagree with this opinion but the music score is great, the directing is great, the acting is great, but the story is pretentious, fallicious, and ridiculous. Take out the boring trial, the white woman across the street who smells like peach blossoms and fresh talcum, the idiotic demonizing of the backwards southern man, one can do this by marrying Atticus directly to his black maid, thus reducing the movie to 55 minutes and, bingo, one has a a masterpiece.
This was one of those rarities when the movie did justice to the book. Harper Lee gained lasting fame for writing this masterpiece. Not writing another book does not demean this one treasure. This was another of Elmer Berstein's gems. What a composer! The movie was cast the way one would picture them to be from reading the book.
We watch this film every year in the fall. The message is powerful, the scenes are unforgettable with Scout, Jeb and Attius and the music is absolutely perfect for the film!
Ok, I know it is on itunes, and it is on amazon, type in Elmer Bernstein (he is the composer) or type in "To Kill A Mockingbird: Original Motion Picture Score"
I just wanted to say that I completely agree with maxparrish101; this story has changed the way I view the world so much, and this music is probably the most beautiful theme music I've heard in a long time.
Oh yes, I think this book and movie has changed my view of the world too. When I was talking to a friend once I said, "I saw the best and the most wonderful movie ever last night, its called To Kill A Mockingbird" my friend said, "Oh yeah, I've seen that movie, but I didn't like it because it was in black & white"
I was speechless, I guess she just didn't see the meaning of the movie, I cry everytime I see or read the book. It is so beautiful.
I remeber saying that I didn't like it because it was black and white too. Little did I know, that was kinda what it was about, also I didn't read the book yet. This movie is without a doubt one of the greatest stories in history.
Thank you for sharing this wonderfully, moving score from the best movie ever made - period. If this doesn't make you tear up, nothing will. Thank you again.
I'm now 57, but I find it difficult to convey how deeply and emotionally this melody has imprinted on my mind - having first seen the movie and heard the music as a child.
Even now the Southern bucolic small town enveloped in humid summer heat, folklore and traditions, and the stature of Atticus Finch fighting save one man's life is vivid, and the music so moving - it can still bring me to tears.
I am journalist and I'll be writing an article about a five month old baby who's undergoing surgery for a cleft lip and palate. I'll be listening to this song while I wrote the feature because it's that inspirational and automatically makes me thing of how special and innocent children are.
omg im in 7th grade i need to do the same thing.but i go to baldwin middle school.but i dont no what happens in the end i didnt look at that part yet.
Enchanting. Thank you. So many good people came together at the right time in the right place to make this movie, from the author and the brave good people she writes about to the actors, directors, set designers, and the music composer. One of those rare moments in hollywood history when we all entered the gates together, audience included.
one of my very favorites ever . Thank you

Hauntingly beautiful theme - perhaps my favorite theme of any movie. Bernstein was pure genius.
