  • Are fish usually shallow in pre spawn as well as spawn?

  • @bassnager Smallmouth bass are on points in current durring pre-spawn, but near spwning areas. As it gets near the spawn the bass make there move to shallow 1-6 feet of water and out of current for the spawn for the most part. Places to look for are bays or ponds fed by culverts from the river. Bass will swim thru culverts over 100 feet long to get into warmer backwater areas. So in prespawn I find lots of smallies in 15 to 4 feet of water but just before the spawn I find them in 2-6 feet deep.

  • I will do a video of the kind of places I catch smallmouth bass in rivers. within the next two weeks. Current is the key. Try fishing points with current. Look for current seams down stream of the point. Fish the seams. Good luck! Roger

  • i live in oregon too. what part of the columbia were u fishing? near what city?

  • At The dalles

  • hey is to much waight good or bad i ussaly fish in shore in california in san luis resivor lots of striped bass and large mouth bass one time my dads friend got a striped bass as big as a car trunk

  • As a rule of thumb you should try to fish with as light a weight as you can and still get to the fish. Many people NEVER fish a senko with weight. I have found that a small amount of weight do not hurt the acction of a senko and will place the bait infrom=nt of the bass faster so I can place my bait infront of more bass over time and than = more landed bass. To much weight is bad at times. The lighter your weight the more hits you will get. It's just more natural.

  • NICE FISH MAN! fish on.

  • This is a small area off the Ciolumbia River in Oregon. I am trying to show you how I fish a wacky rigged 3 inch senko for small mouth bass. Yes I almost always use some weight, You may ask why and the answer is it is more effective that way! I just catch more bass using the weight. It helps me get the bait down to the fish faster and I can put the lure infront of more bass in less time and that = more bass!
