The Apothecary Society is responsible for the development of a new plague to be used to eradicate all life in Azeroth. Arthas recognizes that Sylvanas sent them to fuck shit up at the wrathgate since Sylvanas herself was once his most loyal and powerful minion (against her will) and now she's pissed at him.

But he then left to join the lich king (for one reason or another) and now that's it.

As far as I know, Arthas was theonly survivor. Notice how in the end the dragons destroyed the Forsaken ships/cannons/whatever you want to call it. And as far as I know, Sylvanas was on those. Meaning he most likely died too. But I'm still a little uncertain who won. I'm thinking it was Arthas.
