Catherine Scorsese, God bless her. But help me out here those of you who know your way around the kitchen. Sugar in something we never put into a gravy-- gravy being a beef/pork/veal/sausage tomato sauce. What's the sugar for? Is it to cut acidity? Ma taught me if the tomatoes are too acidic, put in some home-made red wine. Is sugar a Sicilian thing?
Ha ha, she reminds me of my mum, ha ha, though my father is far from jovial or good humoured like Mr Scorsese's father. Picture of the cow, ha ha. Classic, if you are not Italian then you won't understand the humour behind this. And I mean, if you are not Italian, you won't understand this, even if you find it funny.
I'm in Canada, and Iove my NY Italian-American cousins. The ARE the best. When the reunions end, we cry as they drive off, 'cause we wish we could live next door to them.
@topmoviemafia ... pls hav some respect for the great director ... its in every family ... n he has shown it without hesitation or shame ... thts y he is called an artist
Thanks so much for posting this! Its great. I tried to find it online but i couldnt. I accidently came across this! Im so happy you put this up. again thanks a bunch!
Oh my goodness i love this!! I wish i was born into an Italian family. Growing up in Jersey I stayed at my Italian friend's home. I love how close Italian family are and their great interactions!!
wow, that's m my grandparents' living room! The plastic on the couch, the colour of the couch, the artwork, the lamp and she even sounds like my grandmother...the accent and everything. "Everytime I sit close to him, he moves away"...how many times have I heard that !!!
Btw, scorsese has morphed into his father...he looks like him so much now.
This is great. Thanks for the effort to share this great stuff. As a Bronx native and scorcese fan, I always liked the Italian -American roots he drew from for his films.
haha im making a similar film for my history class. we have to interview an immigrant o im interviewing my dad's cousin and using a similar approach as far as filming it :)
hahaha i love cathy scorsese best italian mother ever "tommy what happen what happen jimmy what happen? then she makes a full course meal at 3:00 am LOL from goodfellas
@jackofclubz Absolutely. Also look out for her in 'The Godfather: Part III' (1990). Catherine Scorsese and Ida Bernardini plays two elderly women who ask Vincent Mancini (Andy Garcia) to rid the neighbourhood of Joey Zasa (Joe Mantegna). Great scene.
They are both so cute!

Can anyone please tell me what exactly is that thing at 00:12? I've seen this light in other documentaries too, but I never knew what exactly it is.
Great documentary by one of the greatest directors alive.

So true. All these years later, I still get up slowly from my mom's sofa in the summer when I'm wearing shorts, even though the plastic is long gone.

Di chi è il brano musicale ( mi sembra una mazurka, se non sbaglio ) che inizia al 2.10 ? Mi piace infinitamente ! Chi me lo può dire, per favore ?

what a wacky trio...
KING OF COMEDY: Maaaa!!! Will you please be quiet."
TAXI DRIVER: "Women. They're like a union."
RAGING BULL: "Did you fuck my wife?"
GOODFELLAS: "I gotta come home... to this?!!!!"
CASINO: "Can I trust you?"
Paranio...pyschosis...guilt...anger........ the Scorsese family... WELCOMES YOU.
