  • @MrGustavAdolph Sí, lo mismo (...pero, pienso que Sophie tiene el cabello marrón- dice que en el libro, ¿no?) Odio las peliculas que no tienen las detalles exactos. ¡Muy irritante!

  • German subtitles, english speaking man and norwegian actors. It's too much languages for me,

  • Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I have added it as inspiration to a new multi-book-format:

iGOLD DUST - 2. The Gold Hat Officials

  • The film looks awful... this has been my favourite book since I was eight, and it looks like they've ruined it. I won't be getting this then! Where's Plato and Socrates? And why is Hermes not a labrador?

Thanks for uploading the trailer- otherwise I would have bought it and been bitterly disappointed.

  • I saw this in Japan in 2002...never forgot it!

  • I think this book should be used in schools

  • this is norwegian :)

  • The book is great, but still hard to read.. I am not sure if about if it was a good idea to make a movie out of it though, some books do better as just books than adaptions to movies..

  • the movie is in norwegian, the subtitle is in italian, the voice over is in english, aren't they?

  • @jeremilone the subtitle is in spanish

  • @IndustrialMuffin Aahh, sorry XD Not at all used to the new youtube layout. Didn't see until later that it was from a year ago... ^^,

  • @IndustrialMuffin The whole concept behind Sofies Verden is the philosophy. If you don't like it, there really isn't much point in reading the book, because the plot in general is, just like the lessons, also based upon philosophy. It's almost to pinpoint that not all of it takes place in old Greek men's brains... ^^

  • oh gosh she talks in norwegian.....mhm...i love this movie and the book too! :D

  • Judging by the trailer the movie seems to be more focused on adventure than philosophy.....if that's the case I would be dissapointed :(

  • based on this trailor i suppose the story is refined a little bit? nevertheless i hv never imagined that this could be put onto the big screen!!! due to its textbook-like nature. wow!!

  • Man, I thought it would be IMPOSSIBLE to take this to the big screen!! Really!

¡¡Creía que era IMPOSIBLE adaptar ese libro al cine!! ¡En serio!

  • Nvm, found the album on a japanese site (yes, of all places)

  • Does anyone have the soundtracks from this movie?

  • The book is fantastic! I recommend it to everyone!

  • Bueniisimo ese libro (L)

  • I am currently reading this book and I was thinking how it would have come out if it was made into a film..

  • pretty exiting we watch this in religion class :P

  • lol It is not Andersen but Amundsen

  • Where can I get ahold of this movie???

  • The book is great!! but the movie is really bad

  • i love the book! and the movie!! :B YEAH BEEAAHH!! :P

  • Because not everyone in the world speaks English you ignorant twat!

  • @caliaa I can't tell you how glad I am to see such a comment. You are absolutely right!

  • i am curious with this movie since our professor in logic/ philosophy wants us to watch this...

  • Yes, go to some library in Norway. I'm sure they have the movie in the register. Other than that, it would be pretty difficult to find.

  • You can speak English a lot better than some folks around here. Don't worry about it.

  • the movie is norwegian , made in norway , and we have seen it in school , the movie is not so fun that is looks like. its kinda boring if you dont like history i guess :-) (sorry for my bad english , i'm from norway)

  • not so fun når du er liten xD

  • hi everyone i'm sophie's cat Sherekan

after reading this book i began to think about myself too and escaped from the book. now i am in your world i'm even watching youtube.

  • well hi Sherekan... I'm Sophie's fish

  • Well, i want to be sophie's shark xD

  • Hi! I'm Sophie's avocado!

  • @052053028

    OMG!

    A cat on Youtube!

    RUN FOR IT!!!

  • I love the book!! Wish I could see the movie :(

  • Really liked this book, but I think I'll stay away from the movie....

  • I watched this in Japan March 2002, I'll never forget it. I ran away from the resturant early to watch it.

  • thanks a bunch for this :D.

  • does anyone know the name of the theme song for the mini series? it's like a classical/ opera song that they play in every episode. btw, think the name is silje storstein

  • sophie anderson???? isnt that amundsen? i mean isnt she sofie amundsen, the Black haired girl?

  • There are a number of different versions or "cuts" of the movie. The most widely seen are a 80 minute movie cut and a 2 hour tv movie version. The shorter the version the less philosophy there is and more general history. I have been told about but have not seen a 6 hour mini series version which is much more faithful to the book.

  • where did the 6 hr mini series air?

  • Australia I want to say but I can't remember for sure.

  • the book is HARD to read. get to the philosophy part and it gets dead boring. it's a good book, but hard to read. it's like with all Jostein Gaarder's books

love the movie though. and the theme...

  • its much easier to read than the original texts, thats for sure!

  • Yeah, it's hard. But it depends if you're interested in philosofy. . . read it, but it took som time :P

  • Who would you think most suitable for Sophie if they made a remake. I think either Georgie Henley or Eliza Bennett would be wonderful as Sophie.

  • I saw this movie in Japan in 2002, it was in 5 languages and had Japanese subtitles. I left the resturant early because I had seen it advertised on tv, and knew I wanetd to see it, I left early to watch it. Have never foirget it sicne and spent years trying to figure out what it was caleld!

  • Was there a television series that was showed in Australia as well? Or is that the same as this movie? Can you get the series on DVD?

  • The movie was made by a TV company, the show version is an extended version of the same footage, this was shown dubbed in Australia, as far as I know that version has never been released on home video.

  • Aww, no, is this the movie? I thought it was a TV-series... In that case, this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The acting was exceptionally bad, even for the experienced norwegian actors that was in it. The only good actor in the movie was the swedish guy who played Alberto Knox. Maybe I need to give it a second chance and see it in its entirety, but from what I've seen now, it's not good.

Read the book first, if you haven't. So much better than this.

  • I love the book "Sophia's World" :-)

  • havent seen the movis but would like to have read the book just WONDERFULL and EXCITING

  • amazing *-*

  • wonderful movie ¡¡¡

    i love it ...

  • um mejor es el libro

  • Could someone update the movie please?

  • Hey!!! if u got this movie would u please update it??!!!

  • Oh my God! I have to see this. I was obsessed with the book as a kid. Does anyone know where to get a North American English version?

  • There is no North American English version. It was only dubbed into German.

  • Oh thanks. But all I meant was a DVD that's compatible with North American players. Subtitles are fine with me.

  • It was dubbed for Australian television but as far as I know the dub has been released on video or dvd.

  • err has not been released

  • Im reading the book.Jostein Gaarder is a genius! Unfortunately I can't find the movie at my Cd Rental Store. :(

  • Try looking on ebay, I got my copy from Mexico for $8USD or something like that (hence the burned in spanish subtitles)

  • I have seen that movie a long time ago.. Im reading the book right now :) Im coming from Norway myself. =) Gaarder is one of the best authors i know. I have already ordered the movie =)

  • It depends on what you're looking for in the movie, to judge if the book or movie is better! It's called "Sophie's World" in English, "Sofies Welt" in German & "Sofies Verden" in Norwegian, it's original language.

  • i think the movie looks really awful compared to the book. half these things did not happen in the book, and the professor looks nothing like how he was explained in the book.

  • Oh god, that movie. They screened it as a mini-series here in Australia - COMPLETELY butchered the book. Stupid thing. It's about PHILOSOPHY, not HISTORY!

  • i agree - it's about philosophy not history. i haven't seen the film myself, and it may be good, but from what iv heard it is a poor adaptation of the book

  • lol, well said =D

  • Does anyone know where I can find this online?

  • It looks like each character talks in their native language...like, Berkley talks in English, they speak in Italian at one point, etc.

  • Im norwegian =) ive seen the movie once.. long long time ago. If you want a translation you can just ask me =)This movie is very good, though extremly hard to find...

  • WOW this movie seems sooo good!!! Im reading the book right now, and the movie seems amazing! Loving the book too!!!

    xxxxxxxxxx

  • It seems to me that the book and the movie serve two different audiences.

I prefer the movie to the book.

  • I love this film. I didnt like the book so much when I read it, I always thought that the film was better than the book.

  • this was one of the worst books I have ever read in my life.

  • This film give me goosebumps! I like the film better than the novel actually, perhaps because I watched it so often when I was younger.

  • I would love to watch the movie to,because it seems to be a lot different from the book,do you know where I can downlodat it from,or just watch it online?

  • you can get it at borders, if not at the store try online youll defenetly get it there

  • i want to watch this movie so badly

  • if you haven't read the book, i would definitely recommend that first.

  • i totally agree. they really misrepresent what the book's about. i guess it's all about money these days and them portraying it as a more action-based film brings in the ticket sales.

  • =) Sofie

  • Im reading this book now for a school project, so far it seems that Hilde's father is just toying with peoples minds. XD

  • humm the book is better, it destroys the climax of the ending, i mean the movie does

  • I just finished reading this book for class. The movie seems more interesting than the book. A lot of interesting things on philosophy though.

  • Hey I have to do my summer assignment on this book its an intresting book and I finished reading it but I have to answer questions and I know this isnt the place to ask but anyone have any Idea what is the symbolism is of Sophie standing and looking down the path on pg 15?? anyone?

  • why is the narration of this trailer and some of the dialogue in english, but then some parts of the dialogue in Norwegian, and then the caption in spanish or something?

  • This is the international trailer, it is standard practice on international trailers for all the narration/text to be in english but the film in what ever language the film was shot in. The spanish subtitles were burned in by my source for the trailer, I have no way to remove them. Hope that clears things up for people.

  • I hate the way english is part of the way of everything we do and happens. FUCK english FUCK the US for choosing the language And LOng live Esperanto!

  • hahahahaahauhshsjsaudjawemx9pqk239okm!!!1!!one!

you're funny, though i prefer Interlingua as my hopelessly utopian language of choice.
