  • Taxes are needed... an under Obama your taxes have been reduced... but I don't care... I live in Japan and I am not American, so I don7t have to pay taxes to the USA. I was so surprised to learn that USA citizens have to pay tax to the US government even if they live and work overseas... even if their income is already taxed by the other country... you still have to pay taxes on that money. Fair enough if you pay tax on money made in the USA... but why pay tax twice?

  • that guy on the skateboard ate s*** at :45

  • The Jerk Tax Man was awesome.

  • I think most taxes go to pay off debt.. "Everyone's got a mortgage to pay!" But having enough taxes to pay off your principal America, won't be that easy (especially since the phenomenon that (filthy) rich people are above the law in the US.. you won't tax them, because you can't!)

  • the url does not work and you do not reply to comments. so do you read comments ever? okay, let's see. your url does not work posted with this video. try it out. why do you have a url that does not work? how long until you read this. make sure to post a reply to let us know you read comments and reply ever?

  • The asian.... so clueless, so awesome. no moe bik grasses!

  • scholl, is bullshit

  • one of your countries amendments state thats ***the paying of tax should be up to the individual ....you dont have to pay tax....read your *bill of rights for fucks sake.

  • @SomethingSeaTrashed if you want to have you streets maintained you'll have to pay for it anyhow. By having a government taking care of maintenance you save the time you'd otherwise need to organize. Just one example. Who would pay freely for parks or police? etc. but believe whatever you want. Without the fundamental structure of a country - payed with taxes - the country just wouldn't exist.

  • @SomethingSeaTrashed well, do you want streets? do you want border security? do you want firefighters? do you want public parks? do you want someone to do diplomacy for you? do you want public schools? do you want...?

  • @SomethingSeaTrashed (part2) It should then increase up to 75% if you earn more then 1M/y. And a market-tax (on wall-street etc.) should be introduced at a rate of 1+%, this would give your country an unbelievable amount of money.

  • @SomethingSeaTrashed ok, I don't know how you tax-sytem works, but I wanted to tell how I think would be a nice start.

Taxes in general are necessary, therefore someone (most likely the government) will have to collect them. There are useful taxes, which support social equality without destabilizing the market, and there are stupid ones, which charge the same on everybody. The Income-tax should start at an annual income of more then 10000$ per head feeding from this. Meaning 40k$/y for 4 people.

  • our tax money went to pay for bank bailouts....go figure....

  • I'm surprised no one had ANY idea. Like cops, fireman, clean water, the FDA. anything. Yea, it's a flawed system and too much of our hard earned cash is waisted but what's the alternative? I hate that the war is costing so much, thats true, thought Obama would end it. Still hoping. We take a lot for granted as Americans though. Our cherished "way of life" has to come from somewhere

  • very true, this "war" is costing way too much. And it certainly is surprising that a lot of people don't know that things like schools (public), libraries, ect are funded by tax payer money. I think Obama will at least try to end the war. He's under a lot of political pressure from the rich people who are profiting off the lost lives of the soldiers, but I think it will end soon. It has to end soon..

  • Yes.

  • @SomethingSeaTrashed have I ever said that taxes are generally wrong? About 60-75% of your taxes go to war wether you like it or not. Your roads are a lot cheaper then you think... btw what do you care, I'm from germany and we pay our taxes for your fucking wars to which we are forced to send you soldiers. Wake up US-Sleeper, wake up.

  • @SomethingSeaTrashed

You mean like the 12th century? No thank you. Feudalism and land barons weren't all it was cracked up to be.

  • @mjr256

The Industrial Revolution is the real reason why things have changed from Feudalism.

Because Technology increased production & With a decrease in the amount of time & work needed.

In many ways Exessive Taxes are detrimental to produciton.

  • @AztlanMeansWhiteLand

Actually, there were numerous factors that ended feudalism centuries before the Industrial Revolution, not least of which was trade opportunities created in the Crusades, the transition from land-based economy to money, the increasing value of labor due to Black Death population reduction, peasant revolts, renting land decreasing the rights & responsibilities of lords, & most importantly the establishment of centralized gov't. The Indust. Rev. wasn't until the 18-19th C.

  • about you Americans read your own Bill of Rights...you do not have to pay tax...tax is on a voluntary basis...check your own rights for fecks sake...

  • Thanks Tax we have a such a city like this- Here is San Francisco!?

    Lori is cute.

  • That is NOT New York.

  • It is San Francisco...fucking hate that city.

  • @interneti HUh, she lives in new york.

  • Where the hell does this liberal bitch live? All the people she interviews are weirdos. This must be Seattle...that's just my guess.

She is hot though, she should do porn!

  • @interneti NEW YORK......resident of new york but she is vacant here :(

  • I can answer that question. Our taxes go straight to the Privately Owned Federal Reserve. Every Dime. Not one penny is used for any Government purpose.

  • where is laura?????????

  • the resident is still vacant. where are you girl????????????????

  • @hughster41

I agree we don't need 100 foreign military bases. I agree we should cut military spending. That doesn't mean the money isn't needed elsewhere.

Most people can't afford private school. Voucher programs are insufficient (& will ultimately require every1 to pay for others anyway). Home schooling is the most obvious alternative & the fact is over 75% of home-schooled kids today are taught creationism & most home-schooling textbooks cater to that demographic. We need academic standards

  • @mjr256

If Schools were Privitized the Price of Private schools would come down signfiicantly.

As is some Religious schools are probably cheaper than the damn Local Property taxes you pay for these FAILING schools.

  • @AztlanMeansWhiteLand

"If Schools were Privitized the Price of Private schools would come down signfiicantly."

Probably true. There's just no reason to assume they'd have solid educational standards w/o a public option. You'd also still be keeping most of the very poor uneducated, which in turn will almost certainly raise the crime rate dramatically. And if your solution is just going to be vouchers for every1 who can't afford school, then why not just call it what it is, public education.

  • cont'd

The whole point of a representative democracy is that we get to select the people who are making these decisions. But the people don't have any say as to who is going to be the CEO of a corporation. And it will be that person's job to do what's best for the corporation, not what's best for the people. And as soon as those two goals are in conflict, it's the corporate interests that will winover the students' interests because that person has to answer to his or her shareholders.

  • hey lori next time you go out bring a claw hammer for all the hipsters please :P

also, imagine how awesome things would be if there was like 1% taxes or minimum wage (bear with me), you wouldnt need social security because you would have so much money anyway to pay for it, it would be so easy to get a job because it would be cheaper for employers to hire you, though in the end you'd prolly get an awesome wage because the biz doesnt have a universal shit wage agreed and has to be competative.

  • @hughster41

" We don't need miltary bases in 100 foreign countrys."

I never claimed we did need military bases in 100 foreign countries.

"Schools don't cost much, but teachers unions do. "

You obviously don't work in education, do you?

" The public school system is a monopoly that needs to be broken. "

Yes, because homeschooling is such an effective model & everyone should learn the Earth is 6000 years old.

    cont'd

  • This is a lesson, that people don't fuckin know what their taxes pay for...

  • @hughster41

Yeah, cause schools can do w/o teachers and supplies. And police officers don't need salaries. No money is required to pay for fire stations, postal employees, public parks, public transportation services, roads, bridges, libraries, military. Who needs any of that?

  • In united state, tax are use for army. Cut half of your army and you'll can pays a lot of services for really help people and not to help to save the "soul" bye the religious organization.

I'm so happy ton not live in USA.

  • @RitalSoviet actually, the us budget is about twenty percent on the military. most of the rest of our budget is spent on entitlements that are bankrupt and have not surpluses to offer. the miltary is not bankrupting the country. it is entitlements. thank you fdr in your kindness but long term socialism loses.

  • @STILLNAKEDBULLWINKLE Military give to you artifice of power because they rob the entire world. On they other side, your army must be loudly pay to be impose in a lot of base in the world. Hate than you gets by this attitude cost to you 9/11 and many other problems. Health care not create hagner of other country.

I continu to be so happy to not live in USA.

  • one freaky girl asked what has not been taxed yet? I will tell you. your HEALTH CARE!!!! yes, contrary to those who supported the democrat only health bill, the irs will come after you when you do not pay your tax penalty for not having their health care!!! that is a fact and not bullshit and anyone who tries to say otherwise has their head way up their ass and is in denial!!!!

  • @STILLNAKEDBULLWINKLE

Actually, we've been taxed on our own healthcare & the healthcare of others for a long time now. Oddly no1 seemed to care or even, you know, notice this fact until some1 tried to pass a bill that would actually improve this system so it'd cost Americans LESS money in the long-run. Sadly, that bill was rejected in favor of a watered down version because the insurance companies played on people's fears & paranoia in their propaganda. And now they're laughing at you.

  • @mjr256 when I did my taxes, I never saw the hidden tax on my w2 or my 1099. hmmm, I wonder what and how it was hidden. And, your own party rammed it through with a parliment procedure that even the dem senator who helped create that senate option, reconciliation, condemned being used to pass obamacare.

  • @mjr256 sadly, you believe goverment is efficient and can spend money wisely and improve and not worsen the problem. you alreay explained how it will not work and it was the dems that passed it and no one else. you did not get your public option but in their haste to pass it, they forgot to include any regulatory controls on the insurance companies. Read the bill next time assholes. There is nothing to laugh about. this country is bankrupt and becomes greece in ten years.

  • @STILLNAKEDBULLWINKLE

" sadly, you believe goverment is efficient and can spend money wisely and improve and not worsen the problem"

Sadly, some people make up positions people don't actually hold just so they have a reason to argue.

And again, we were already paying for other people's healthcare. The single-payer option, which still would have required tax money, would have improved it. But it was the propaganda playing to the libertarians' fear & paranoia that blew the whole deal.

  • @mjr256 where in statement am I incorrect. you contend that government is efficient, so efficient, that its presence in the health care sytem even more will improve and not cause more harm or worsen the situation. You believe goverment is the answer to the problem.

  • @STILLNAKEDBULLWINKLE

I don't know what "the problem" is but yes, gov't is the answer to many problems. Unfortunately, like everything else, it's far from perfect and progress is made through trial and error. I'm not advocating to let politicians continue wasteful spending. I'm saying we need to keep fighting to ensure they spend wisely, which is an infinitely simpler & better solution than throwing out the baby w/ the bathwater in favor of some far worse libertarian fantasy.

  • @mjr256 well, the hand writing is on the wall, literally. the cbo estimates that our debt percentage will equal our revenue in gdp in ten years or we become greece. the fed reserve chairman is about to go on tv today and say our economy is in dire straits. butttttt, we spent about one trillion for stimulas that did not work, right? did it work? no? why? not big enough? wrong!

  • @mjr256 finally, medicare, social security, and medicade are bankrupt. so, we create more govt spending to help the govt spending to save money. we spend more to save? wow, I have a couple of thousand dollars on a credit card. I need to spend more to save on the other card and fast!!! does common sense ever apply anymore?

  • @mjr256 okay, if a massive earthquake was to hit los angelos tomorrow, where is the money to repair the damages? where? how will that play into the already spent one trillion, almost, for stimulas and the almost one trilllon for health care? We are broke and the shit has not hit the fan in some people's minds but will very soon and I am not talking about November. You will see and the blame game will continue. Hello Rome!!! or Hello Huns?

  • @mjr256 You are wrong and what they passed already will not work and you know that and your excuse and theirs will be that it did NOT GO FAR ENOUGH!!!! LOLOL...just like that failed stimulas package!!! It did not spend enough money and that is why it failed? LOLOL..keep believing their Journey, or I should say, dont stop believing? LOL

  • still vacant.......................

  • @hughster41

What's that have to do w/ taxes? Secular non-profits help poor people too & we already have a tax exemption policy for charitable non-profits. So what about the religious institutions that only do charity work occasionally or not at all? Shouldn't they pay taxes? Foreign aid actually benefits us. & why should I pay more taxes so the Salvation Army has more money to squander on political campaigns to stop marriage equality when their stated goal is fighting poverty?

  • still vacant..............

  • the resident is vacant.

  • Where the hell were you?

    In Berkeley?!

That was the dumbest bunch of interviewees you've come up with so far.

    Way to go Gurl!

Exposing why we are taxed to death and beyond,

    Ignorance and sheer stupidity.

    Luv

    Salem

  • hey was that dude with the mohawk the same dude from the kid's toys expo who invented miyake or whatever?

  • I believe we New Yorkers should over tax theme Jersey folks

  • Yes, let's all hang out and enjoy the lovely comforts of Union Square Park, which of course is maintained and kept clean every day by magical elves who work for free while bitching about how our tax dollars are stolen by politicians. Surely none of those taxes go towards that park you take for granted.

  • @mjr256 if i wasn't mistaken I think that was the exact point this video was trying to make... all of these people bitching didn't know that the transportation, roads, and parks all around them were tax money.

  • @mjr256 Yes, and let's not forget the $9.38 million spent on renovating a train station in Lancaster, even though it hasn't been used in 30 years. Or the $219,000 spent to study the sex lives of freshmen women at Syracuse. Or the $3.4 million turtle tunnel in Florida - oh, yes, let's not forget that.

  • @CommentorX

I don't think anyone disagrees that often tax money is spent poorly or even incompetently. Faith based initiatives. Abstinence-only sex ed. Bridges to nowhere. But taxes also fund basic things that we all tend to take for granted such as maintaining the very park they're standing in, which was my point...and hopefully her point as well.

  • Anyone who thinks taxes are too high should call their gov't officials and demand religious institutions be taxed. Do you realize how many religious institutions there are, how rich those institutions are, and that they don't have to pay a dime in taxes?

  • alt kids hippies & "artists" are so so smart!

  • Yes, people, I understand taxes are necessary. I honestly don't think there are too many people are arguing that taxes are inherently wrong. The problem is: 1.) Taxes are way too high, ridiculous, and imposed on too many things, and 2.) Related to the first, the tax money is used like a drunken sailor on shore leave, used to fund stupid useless programs that some lobbyist or special interest group bribed into the funding. That's the problem with taxation in America today.

  • Comment removed

  • For Tax Freedom Day, it is the average person who finally gets to keep the money for the rest of the year. I would think 80% of the people The Resident interviewed probably pays little or no income taxes.

  • I like taxi's,leave them alone.

  • yeah. fuck all you taxi haters!!!

  • taxes are necessary, it's some of the expenditures we dislike. i like graduated taxes because the person making more is taxing (haha) the common infrastructure more. (yes, that's very simple. no, i will not respond to your counterpoint.)

  • ur so hot

  • arent taxes used to like help build hospitals and shit ? so yeah its good xD

  • did he have a hole in his chest...

  • Stop bitching about taxes, you're taxes help poor children like me go to college, so I can educate your Grandkids, so they can became just an ignorant as the rest.

  • Your a HOTTY, and btw.... taxes are NOT here to stay! See you on RT.

  • It's time Religion was taxed, all around the world they get tax breaks and secular schools are left behind on the bottom run of the ladder. even farmers have to compete with religion and have no hope of getting a good price for their crops when religion pays no Tax. The Balance sheet at the end of the day favours the one that get the Tax break.

  • this video has the weirdest people you've ever interviewed i think, haha

  • It was once said that if the government would do a 10% across the board tax to everyone, the very rich and the poor then they would have all the money they ever needed. Each person would only pay only their due share and all of the taxes on everything else would be gone. Oh well, one can only dream. ☆

  • nice song LOL

  • The average European will laugh at the idea that Americans pay taxes at all.

  • I know where your tax money goes, for weapons of mass desctruction, to fight the so call war on Terror, haahaahaah and everything else beside for the benefit of your Health and benefit of the society that you guys so call live. Really you tax money goes 80 percent for military, 5 percent for the people who works in the govt, 5, for all the authority institution, 5 percent to control your freedom, 5 percent for the News media to filter out the truth.

  • sounds like the Jerk Tax Man read Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

  • Taxes go to paying the interest on the debt.

  • fuck, fuck and fuck

Lori, You accidentally dropped these appropriate expletives between recording and broadcast. But in doing so, you violated that hippy's First Amendment rights.

I think there should be a tax on advertisers that demand no Fuck words in YouTube vids. It's in your constitution, your ancestors fought and died for the right to say "fuck".

There should also be a tax on vloggers who toady to the advertisers by bleeping out the Fuck word.

  • Is that real ??? Just counting one and one together, you'll know what taxes are for. Let me think: The shools & teachers, streets, traffic lights, Police, Military, CIA, NSA... All the buildings cars and materials they all need, All the other ministrys of the government....

Can it be that a person has not one thought like that ?

How does someone like that go through this life ??????????????

  • They get redistributed to those calling the shots, in direct proportion to their power. So mostly to the rich and ruthless. But I think most of us know this.

  • gee, i always thought that most of the money went to the roads and the schools. but i guess the congressmen keep it all...oh thank you internet people for enlightening me l :/

  • I keep waiting for "iron maiden" mullet/mohawk chick to sprout a Jim Browski and then go, "Tax that!" Hahahah.

But seriously, the gal with the "natural" at 2:36 is hot! I like the old school Afro look on her!

  • Ha, that ignorant smart assed dude at :22 seconds is so fucked and he don't even know it yet...enjoy the debt we left you, you little smart ass! hahahaha, maybe when you realize the screwing, you'll understand the concept of "taxation without representation", homie.

  • u are on it smart one here

  • Was that an English bull dog you interviewed? He had a lot to say but it came out like a FauX Spews commentator. Lets have all military spending stopped and used for single payer healthcare. No one would complain except the Bull dog and the Insurance company thieves. Congressman Tom Coburn (R Jerk) couldnt complain because it would be funded.

  • our taxes go to the politicians bank accounts, and their little pet projects that no one wants.

  • @Maserati7200

those aren't "your taxes", federal income taxes are the lawful property of the US government. In fact, money, or US CURRENCY, is property of the US Government as well. Therefore, you can't even say it's YOUR money, because it's not even your money.

  • Let me ask you a question, who worked hard to earn capital? The government or the citizen. Yeah, thats what I thought.

  • are 90 % of people really retarded ? I am really beginning to think they just might be !

  • why arent you running for office?

  • Presently all personal federal income tax revenue goes toward paying the interest on the national debt. Services and entitlements are paid for with corporate income taxes, tariffs, and excise taxes.

  • Phhbbt.

  • Taxes are not bad, when they have good representation...but the Government spends it and does not like to give explanation, look at the Military spending o the U.S...I for one want to know where every penny is going

  • If I could tax anybody on the planet? I'd vag tax that iron maiden chick! Pay up, dearie!

But if she can't come Lori will do...

  • whats with all the cool hair ?

  • Tax the churches!!! Tax the businesses owned by the churches!!!

  • @testchimp23 tax no one.

  • @Chrisnoscrub047 Lol. I was quoting Frank Zappa. The man was a true genius and really got people to think about certain issues. Like why don't churches or church owned businesses get taxed when they are just a big scam in the first place.

  • Tax those who put demands on you?

  • Those singers arent gettin robbed they never worked a day in their lives

  • "nobody knows where our tax money goes"...

Seems like your caught a bunch of idiots on this vid. It's obvious where your tax money goes - the streets and sidewalks that these people are standing on, the upkeep of the park they're in, that street sign at 3:27, etc, etc, etc...

Where the hell do these people think the money for all this stuff comes from?

I agree with maimingbetty. They're all idiots.

  • taxes are not bad, what the heck is wrong with people? i'm confused can someone enlighten me with their opinion?

  • @maimingbetty .. what sux is most of the tax you pay goes to killing ppl (to fund wars in afghanistan, iran, iraq). also, it goes to supporting other nations like israel and then screwing poor countries (third world). also, when govt. spends (because americans can't work and depend on the govt for benefits like healthcare) the money comes from taxes. more taxes also mean ppl are less inclined to work if govt starts taking more share of the money.

  • I'm in Québec, so I guess that tax freedom day is somewhere in November...

  • they should tax every1.. n' raise taxes!

  • They should only tax crap that people should use in moderation -- so big taxes on cigarettes, booze, pot (after they make it legal), junk food of all kinds, gasoline (to encourage using public trans and stuff), utilities (electricity and water, to encourage conservation), anything made out of plastic... you get the idea.

  • If you are going to tax someone tax the muslims, jews, communists, and the carpet bagging immigrants.

  • at 3:20 that guy just blatantly brushed up against him WTF!

  • Iron Maiden girl had it all figured out, they just "make it up."

Resident you're a natural with a mic on the streets...

  • Hello,Lori.

Allowing a guy to tax RED SOX fans??!! Typical Yankee loser fan.

Seriously, if services and government programs were efficiently utilized, taxes would be low,and more stable.

  • "I'm an employee who wants to tax my boss so he/she fires me." Idiot. How about a flat tax or higher sales tax and NO income tax at all? Until 1913, there was no income tax. How did we fund government before that? If we would live within our means, we wouldn't need an income tax. Stop policing the world, printing money, and bailing out private industry. Stop creating more social programs that make people dependent on the government.

  • pretty simple: your taxes go to war.

  • the taxes go to paying the trillions of dollars you guys owe china... and supporting Isreal's military...

  • Tax Freedom Day is April 15, 2010, Our taxes are due on April 15, 2015

  • Nice Video Chakka

  • what a useless day damn hippies with their washboard

  • Taxes are what fuels the infrastructure of our nation. This infrastructure is the very foundation of what we call civilization. I'm rather fond of civilization.

And I can't keep that money. I need to pay rent, electricity, gas (liquid and gaseous forms), food, school loans, car payments, credit card bills, cable and every other basic need. So this day is pretty meaningless.

  • @tetsubo57 oh really asswhole

  • @dalmationbreed Ass"whole" lol

  • @dalmationbreed So, every dime you make for the rest of the year is disposable income? You are a lucky person.

  • A couple of your tax dollars went to buy breakfast for the Apache helicopter pilot in Iraq who butchered 12 adults and 2 children with 30 mm cannon fire.

Thank you, by the way, for a delicious plate of sausage, scrambled eggs with Tabasco sauce, biscuits and gravy, coffee, and chocolate milk.

  • Our taxes are going into the coffers of the military-industrial-media complex. It's organized theft, facilitated by our Congresswhores, providing them with useless "pork" projects that funnel our dollars to corporations like General Electric. But, applying logic, isn't organized theft by definition organized crime? And would that not mean our country is run by a kind of corporate mafia?

  • @560e ah finally someone who thinks right.

  • @560e Right. And they also go to the enforcement of laws that allow people to profit from your labour. That completes the picture. Some of it is done to benefit particular members of the capitalist class (corruption); but normally it is just done in general.

  • Just goes to show how dumb people are

  • I tried making my money work for me once, and my money wound up taking my job and putting me out on the street. Stupid, double-crossing, money.

  • I hate people who hate taxes. These people are all idiots. How about asking them how much they like their bosses profiting off their labor? Is that not a tax?

  • @mistaspot1 whats ur point ?

  • @dalmationbreed property is theft

  • @mistaspot1 property is theft ?

  • haha new yorkers get a late tax freedom day. i live in tx. my tax freedom day was probably last month.

  • i like the dickhead police

  • It's a bogus calculation. Government numbers are used to approximate federal, state, and local taxes. This year, half of the taxpayers didn't even pay federal income taxes. Where you live determines your state tax, school tax, city tax, county tax, and sales tax.

Lori, I assure you that being a New Yorker, your Tax Freedom Day is sometime in May at the earliest.
