but get a like-new 'used' one from GC on-line for around $80, though.

it's a nice guitar and with good pickups it's about as good as anything - including the standard 1k usa strats! the downsides are the pickups aren't very detailed or interesting sounding (good output though) and the fretwork doesn't come leveled from the factory. it costs $50 to have a professional fret polish and set-up. oh, and the affinity series are thinner bodies-about 1/4", so you can't use some regular fender spec parts on it without working on them.

@hailknopfler2 if you look at the squier website the part of the neck where keys are has a different logo and this one also seems to have a bit different shape of the neck and maybe it's just the video quality but the guitar seems to lack the fine details, it's just a guess but looks like a fake to me, there are chances to be wrong if Squier used different logos which I don't think, anyway, it's just my personal opinion, keep on rocking anyway on any guitar :)

yah no the set was 9-42 and i bought new ernie ball reg slinky 10-42 or 46 dont remember.. they were so much better lol, you could notice cause the old strings were like 5 years old and i think especially the high strings were made of better nickle or metal type cause they were kinda slinky :D

@segerfan Yeah dude, they're 99.9% the same. The ONLY difference is the body - the Squier's are a twee bit thinner and have cuts where it makes it more comfortable to play.

Squiers are awesome if you're just starting to play. They're cheap and they sound quite nice but not as goood as a Les paul or an ibanez. I started off with a squier for like $200 and it broguht me up to the point that I got a Gibson LP which was 'freakin expensive

In all honesty picups and amp setup really make the guitar. I have a nice set of Seymour Duncan pickups in a relatively cheap LTD explorer ($600 brand new) through a low end marshall head connected to a cheap ass 1980 crate speaker. For under $1000 I have a setup that will peel paint off the walls.

@Ronaldino150 there actually is a huge difference. Gibson uses thin nitrocellulose lacquer. Epiphones have polyurethane finish (cheaper, but more durable). Gibson body is made with mahogany, whereas Epiphone is made of different combinations. Still has mahogany though. The pure mahogany allows the sound to resonate though.
