Entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 on 04-14-1960, it peaked at No. 5 and spent 15 weeks in the Top 100...
On 12-28-1946 Sammy Kaye's version reached #1 {for 7 weeks} and spent 14 on Billboard's Best Sellers chart...
Two other versions also charted in 1946; Kay Kyser's version peaked at #3 and lasted 11 weeks on Billboard's Best Seller chart {this version was 1st to enter the charts} and Hal Derwin's version made it to #6 {it was Derwin's only record to ever make the charts}
wouldn't expect any of todays groups to be able to give us similar enjoyment like we receive from bonnie, maxine and jim. perfect harmony....perfect blend....love it all
True talent is eternal! The Browns have been blessed with a vocal beauty that simply captivates the heart more than a half-century later. Incredible. Ensemble singing that makes each moment something of supernal magic. Thank you for giving grace to this day by the gift of your singing.
You cant beat harmony like the Browns, they still sound like they did when I was a kid in the 60"s. I loved Scarlett Ribbons by them, i have several favorites by them.
Such a GR8 music video ~ Thanks so much for adding this treasure for all to enjoy during this 'digital revolution'. I grew up on this kind of music during the 'baby boomer' generation of the 50s & 60s & it was played on the radio all the time. This recording was one of my all-time favorites. Radio station KAAM in D/FW still plays the standards & especially this one frequently. For more goodies such as this, listen online at Kaamradio/com Twitter @KAAMRADIO
I looked up "The Browns" after reading an article in Entertainment Weekly that referred to them as "has beens" and forgotten....To me, artists such as these are never has beens. Their voices are beautiful and will never get "old". Thanks for the upload.
@almamatters2471 They'll never be forgotten by their fans. That article you referred to was probably the one publicizing the fictionalized story of their life that's recently been published called "Nashville Chrome" & written by Rick Bass. Their music is timeless and classic.
classic for sure and thank you "memories" for sharing. i agree with jessilu, they still sounded very good whenever this "live" performance took place. Hard to find family harmony that beats this trio.
OMG my heart leapt when I saw this. I never thought I would ever see the Browns singing live again! Their voices are as sweet and harmonious as they were when they were young, and the ladies are just as pretty as ever!
