Yesss deffinately up there as probably one of the best bond film scores of all time. The harps give you a really eerie feeling of being in space, and then when the violins come in it sends shivers down your spine. wicked stuff from the irreplaceable John Barry
excellent score and I think the mixing is not bad at all: it could be almost a classic suite with tree parts. the first two are connected by the same key & harmonies; the third is the dramatic climax (and btw the key and a specific fragment remind of the "Goldfinger" theme :) )
Nothing as thrilling as John Barry Bond music. I think there was hardly ever anyone who could create such a great atmosphere with movie scores, even without the image! He sure had his orchestra in the palm of his hands.
@yaahyak Maybe because Michael Giacchino wanted to recreate the John Barry sound. And by "maybe," I mean that he was DIRECTLY influenced by Barry's music. Did you know that the director of The Incredibles wanted John Barry to score the movie at first??? True story.
A lot of critics have dismissed the new James Bonds as resembling the Bourne trilogy too much. I love both franchises and i do see the similarities between Daniel Craig's Bond and Damon's Bourne.....ie fight scenes, camera work etc. I think one of the things that made the classic Bond films so good was their elaborately produced music, such as this piece. Bond could reclaim some individuality if it were to bring back full-blown orchestra sets for it's soundtrack.
This track PERSONIFIES timeless. I'm glad to see that people know whats up and either like or go away. I"m glad someone took the time to post this track online.
To OTHER people find your ZEN, chill and just listen to this while letting your imagination roam. If you will do so you will understand the bliss this track provides. Its more than Bond to me its "FOR ME." Thanx a million altern8z.
Jonh Barry, the master of underwater and space themes. Loved space march since i was a kid. very nice chord progression.
thx for uploading another version of it, i only knew the O.S.T. version...unfortunetaly the timing (drum) around 4:00-4:20 is a little screwed. But your mix isnt that "badly done" at all...
I would like to point out that 4.00-4.20 is actually part of the original track... nothing to do with me... but I appreciate your kind comments... cheers.
Yep your right, my misunderstanding... thanx again for the kind comments... I'm glad you enjoyed the tracks... John Barry was definitely in a class of his own.
The winning formula is a combination of action packed and hypnotic awe inspiring musical scores, such as the Space March. Bond must be able to show he is ruthless and tough - a job that Daniel Craig does very well, credit to him.
The other secret to their success is subtle clever humour which is missing from modern Bond films, it made the difference.
As suggested to me, the Bond films should have stopped when they were at their best.
John Barry is perhaps the greatest genius composer in film history. One of the primary reasons for the lack of memorable OO7 films of today, which have no shelf life, is because no nothing yuppie producers of OO7 films put no aesthetic value in music. All they know is loud noice and sfx. Barry's music is indeed genius.
Couldn't agree more. Bond movies are now a joke; bland, boring & devoid of any escapism and the lack of great music in them is a major reason. Producers with no love of great movie making are now out for the quick buck, they want there cheap looking CGI shit packed with the latest trends and everything has to be 'sexy' and 'cool'. Everything is over-hyped upon release & movies now are forgotten within six months. The pre-90 Bond movies will always be great entertainment..with great scores.
But sadly I think that you are so very near the truth, Barry's successor David Arnold is a top bloke, but after his rivetting 'Tomorrow Never Dies', the yuppies must have told him - drop it for the FX.
I happen to think that Quantum of Solace has a good score, though the music is much more visible when listened to separately. Casino Royale's soundtrack wasn't excellent I'll agree, and nothing about Die Another Day was really any good, but Quantum of Solace is I'd say Arnold's second best Bond score.
How does one begin to sum up John Barry's genius ?
I remember being transfixed by his music in the Bond films from seeing my first one On Her Maj's Secret Service on its release in 1970 when I was all of 6. I still love it as much now - can you claim that of anything else you liked at that age !?
The piece in outer space (from YOLT) is unforgettable .... Barry captures the vastness, coldness, and danger of space so well .... this isn't quite the same as the movie soundtrack, but nevertheless thanks for the memories.
Dawn Raid on Fort Knox is possibly the only piece to outdo THIS ! BRAVO ... !
John Barry is the best [Greetings from Brazil]

oh no u misunderstood me,
of course its the track itself, the orchestra, drummer or conductor who screws,
and of course it has nothing to do with you. No, you just deserve thx for bringing up these takes, proving taste. Cheers
