Did Murdstone just point to the south Ukraine for "Dover" in the first shot....then his finger is all of the sudden pointing to Britain in the next one? Yep....haha
What gives Mr. Murdstone the right to take the money? It belongs to Davey. Davey hurt Mr. Murdstone's feelings by calling him a murderer. Smart thinking.
I honestly dont know the laws of marriage and all that too well- especially not over in england- But no mr. murdstone is an ass- and deserves much more cruel words than just "murderer"
Uh, marriage laws aren't that different in England...but in the 19th century the man's word was law, and if he married a woman with a child they saw him as having complete control over the child and their assets. And it's called "negligent homicide" when he didn't let the mother go to the doctor. He didn't kill her, but he let her die.
In a way, he did murder Clara. When she had fallen ill, he kept her from seeing a doctor so she wouldn't get well. And while she was at her weakest, took her son away and kept him from answering her letters, just to make her condition worse so she would die.
