I can imagine some nice benefits to a vehicle such as this.
E.g., you fly into a small airport in a small rural town, and then you'd like to drive into town for lunch, and maybe visit a historic site 5 miles out, and then take off to the next stop on your vacation-tour.
But I suspect that the cargo space and weight capacity is much less than a small private airplane, and highway driving is substandard. And it's probably expensive to buy. IOW, lots of compromises to get that convertibility.
theres no need for car mode. its not practical. u dont really take that out for a drive. only when ur about to fly. but more practical to just tow it. the 4 wheel car like design isnt good.
Well think of it as inter city transport, say you had 4oo km between citys, in a car it would be roughly 3.5 hours, with all the speed restrictions, but in this, you could probably do it in 2 hours, no restrictions, no trains or buses to catch to and from the airport, just drive in, fly off, and drive out, this just maybe the way forward for executive travel.
I think it looks great, but this is only the beginning. Wait until BMW improves it so you get super stability while driving as well. I wouldnt buy the first kind of this, but gladly some improved version. I think it still might get a little more volume so you can fly a couple of hours before having to go down for refueling. Then comes the need of a system that controlles all new flying cars so we don´t get a mess above big cities...
@Xiber1 Great question! Now I doubt that since it needs a runway to take off & there for traffic doesn't really offer such a luxurious runway to work with. I have a question though. Does the potential owner need a pilot's license or is it dummy proof & you can take off knowing basics, & drive the car just as easily? If people would need to start hiring private pilots, the project won't take off as expected, resulting in a similar clientele like people that own planes. They exist but not in bulk.
This is awesome! I assume this is geared towards the committed flyers who fly the Cessna for sport? Or for an older couple looking to go on vacation who doesn't want to deal with traffic.
Martinelli, the president of Panama should have one of this for sure! It will help him run away from the photographers!

Wanted... One mechanic stupid enough to lay one hand on this vehicle and FOREVER be liable for any future malfunction.
emmon72cz3x 9 months ago
this is stupid. u cant just land in even a medium sized parking lot because i needs a runway. they need to make it be able to land/takoff vertically.

I couldn't agree more. The concept is foolish.

@ThunderAppeal you are just copying what everyone is saying so shut up!!!
72narutofan72 1 year ago
@ThunderAppeal from what i've read, you will still need a private pilot license to fly it. so only a few idiots will be in the air.

If I get stuck in the traffic, I can just extend the wings and take off?
Xiber1 2 years ago 6
@Xiber1 Yeah! Cause you can take off from a standstill just like in a real airplane!

@Xiber1 when was the last time you saw a runway length opening three lanes wide in a traffic jam? just askin. you're better off on a motorcycle.
magedogtag 1 year ago
@Xiber1 ur gonna need enough length to speedup and then u can take of.. so if u r stuck in traffic .. u cant
shariar1995 1 year ago
@Xiber1 no u need a runway.
