I find the tempo speed up at the end a great idea, and definitely purposeful. As you might have noticed part of his solo here is not as evident in the studio recording you'd hear on the album. The solo he normally plays live is used as a "gateway" into the tempo change so it doesnt seem as evident to listener, its much more subtle. Reason being because solos to the average listener are expected to seem fast. Most never noticed. See? It worked :)

it means it has been used for movie trailers, television show love scenes (jason/courtney from General Hospital), it has been overplayed, but thats just how it is, it's a good song from an amazing songwriter, its jsut not one of those songs that is unique in a sense, but it doesnt really matter. but if you listen to him live a bunch of times you can tell how he changes it, sometimes he puts a longer rift in, but he just does an amazing job with it :)
