As of March 2011, there are over 3 million new job postings, highest in 7 years. US exports grew 30% in 2010. Unemployment reduced from almost 10% to now 8.8% (as of Apr, 2011). So you don't think it is recovery? I think you are the one on drug or drink the peddle of fear coolaid.

It's just my personal opinion.(No, I haven't heard the "Voice of God", nor have I gotten back from Mount Sinai. But I do believe that this is the beginning of the end. I think that the economy will make a comeback, but not like it has in the past. Well, American auto companies like GM, Ford and Chrysler really need to start making fuel efficent vehicles and cars high in quality. American companies need to get popular again. In times like we aer having right now, we need to "Buy American." We need to do whatever it takes to get the U.S. economy strong and create millions of jobs again. You're right. There isn't enough precious metal. However, these metals will have outrageous prices in the future. Look at gold today. 1083 bucks. Silver, I think, will hit around 200 per ounce as well when it's over with. Back to currency. Other commodities can be used to back economies. Not a piece of paper with no value other than the ink and paper on which it is printed. Look for local markets to pop up. Your best bet will be in 1/4 ounce silver bars. Have a few now. Thank me later. :)
It'll never reach the gold at the grocery store point. Gold and maybe Platinum will be the standard when you make large denomination purposes. Silver is more likely to be accepted in 1/4 bar and even gram allotments at the grocery store if it comes to that. However, there will be a new fiat money coming out of the pipe after all this. As of March 2011, there are over 3 million new job postings, highest in 7 years. US exports grew 30% in 2010. Unemployment reduced from almost 10% to now 8.8% (as of Apr, 2011). It's just my personal opinion.(No, I haven't heard the "Voice of God", nor have I gotten back from Mount Sinai. But I do believe that this is the beginning of the end. I think that the economy will make a comeback, but not like it has in the past. It may take another 100 years or so for things to come to past but I think that things are going to go from bad to worse. This is not really bad, like it's going to be.

Well, American auto companies like GM, Ford and Chrysler really need to start making fuel efficent vehicles and cars high in quality. American companies need to get popular again. In times like we aer having right now, we need to "Buy American." We need to do whatever it takes to get the U.S. economy strong and create millions of jobs again. The unemployment is too high and is unacceptable. Can the U.S. really be considered a developed or industrialzed country with such high unemployment?

Keep these videos going MOT! There're so many out there with this naive tunnel vision thinking that the U.S. is still a hegemonic core nation. That's about to come to an end. Abandoning gold standard and using paper money as legal tender was the first mistake. The founding fathers of the U.S. SAW this coming and warned us about it, but those who prefer to live in the dream world with their own little security bubbles are going to wake up one day and find their dollars will be worth NOTHING!

You're right. There isn't enough precious metal. However, these metals will have outrageous prices in the future. Look at gold today. 1083 bucks. Silver, I think, will hit around 200 per ounce as well when it's over with. Back to currency. Other commodities can be used to back economies. Not a piece of paper with no value other than the ink and paper on which it is printed. Look for local markets to pop up. Your best bet will be in 1/4 ounce silver bars. Have a few now. Thank me later. :)

It'll never reach the gold at the grocery store point. Gold and maybe Platinum will be the standard when you make large denomination purposes. Silver is more likely to be accepted in 1/4 bar and even gram allotments at the grocery store if it comes to that. However, there will be a new fiat money coming out of the pipe after all this. So, being that you're cynical, you won't even have to worry. You can continue to sleep again in the end. :)

drrob, gold melts, did you know that? You melt down your lump of gold, whatever amount that is, and you create smaller amounts by using scales, have you heard of a scale? It measures weights thru a balanced mechanism. The seller will have a scale, if he or she needs to. Wasn't that an easy answer to your "lump" of gold problem?
