Why don't most gay relationships last as long as straight relationships?
I mean I might be wrong, as I'm just speaking from what I've seen. But every gay person I know, when they get a boyfriend or girlfriend, it usually doesn't last more than a few months. 2 years tops.
Brother, went through similar some time ago. It's hard, it hurts, and there are no Rx to help. Just time and perhaps you'll fall in love again, as I have. Realy effective communication is the hallmark of a long term relationship, forcing your self to UNDERSTAND what the other person needs to know about you or them is the key, if you can empathically verbalize your REAL emotions you are well on the way to letting someone know the real you, they will thank you for the hard work it will take eventualy.

I might suggest a third and neutral party. A life councilor or maybe even a mental thyrapist. Someone to help, without involvement in your everyday life.
