  • how are your hermit crabs now ^^?

  • cool terrarium. how many crabs you have? and how much money iscoconut bedding? and howmuch comes in it?

  • @Jillylicous to climb on. u need hiding places for them to hide in. u can buy coconut houses. or even make them ur self which is optionial, but better. u need extra shells for them to move into. they molt. also u need a humidity chage and the thernomiter to 70 degrees or 75. u need a spray bottle to spray the tank for moistier.

  • @Jillylicous they drink fresh water not tap water from the sink they have chemicals in it. hermit crabs need 2 water dishes 1 fresh water dish with a sponge to suck out of. 1 salt water dish u can buy a hermit crab salt water conditioner . u need 1 food dish they mainly love fruits and veggys and viariety bites. a 10 gallon tank is a good start with 2 hermit crabs or 3. dont use gravel for subrate. u can use sand or coconut fiber. it should be 4 or 3 inches deep. u need climbing toys.....

  • i gotta question.i have 4 hermet crabs.one always comes out at night but the other three just go underground nd sit there d never come out until itake them out are they like ok or annything?.and also is there anyway to keep the water in the tank.cause i literally have to fill there water every two days and it kan kinda get annoying.plzz help me

  • nice tank did you knoe that hermit crabs dont change shells in soil only sand

  • I really like your tank! George is my favorite :)

  • My hermit crab is really active it always sleeps in corners

  • my hermit crab murdered my other crab

  • Every one look at my video called hermit crabs on my channel Angor31698754

  • pleaseeeeeeee tell me what gallon tank that is.

  • QUESTION: I just got my hermit crabs about a week ago, I got the Calci-sand stuff they sold at the pet store. is it better to use that or better to use real sand like you have? Thanks for your videos

  • @Tuesdays86 its better to use playsand, its way cheaper because its around four dollars for a VERY large bag, one bag lasted me for a year

  • good thing that one got out of his painted shell

  • @pinksparkleglamme Hermit crabs are actually very social and live in huge groups, sometimes with more than a hundred crabs together. Given the choice, they prefer have more crab friends than more space per crab as long as their space needs are met.

  • How can you tell the gender

  • How can you tw

  • /watch?v=Q7bp_FJ__jo&feature=related That is the cruelest hermit crab video I have seen. Help tell people about how bad it is and how they shouldn't ever buy that kind of kit. Please people, it's animal cruelity! :(

  • It's a waste of time to separate the mulch from the sand because they mix all back together right away.

  • wow its so big

  • im really frustrated. i went to 3 petstores today. one (petsmart surprisingly) didn't have any. and then another one, im pretty sure they were all dead. it was a dinky little pet store. and then petco had all painted shells. i thought maybe i could just get them and then they'd change shells later but the store didn't have shells either

  • @ForeverLivesNirvana I bought most of mine from Petco, in my general area they have both painted shell crabs and the regular kind. Surprisingly the painted shell crabs costed more by a dollar lol.

  • @mshobohorse

yeah i saw "fancy" shells and I was confused because they didn't look like a special breed or anything. then i realized they were painted and that's why they were fancy. all to make more money probably

  • its an aquarium not a terrarium just saying :p its not because there is no water in it thats it turns in to a terrarium a terrarium has ventilation holes on the bottem and on the celing for the rest good job on your crabitat

  • nice tank, It game me cool ideas for my tank

  • Hi, where did you buy your hermit crabs?? How are they so active? lol mine in the daytime are neverrr out even at night they are not super active(they are out though). I have 5 and I got them from petsmart. They come out when I hold them but how are yours so active?? I am getting one more today. Any tips?

  • How many crabs do you have?

  • Hermie heaven, nice work, but, put an undied sea sponge in the water to humidify the tank, also try coconut, they love that. I am amazed at how many extra shells you have, very good, your hermies look healthy, how old?

  • i had a hermit crab who was really energetic and i named him battery

  • I love your hermit tank videos! Thanks you've helped alot making mine too! :)

  • that's the best hermit crab cage I've ever seen!

  • how often do you change the substrate

  • My hermies chirp when there is a thunderstorm! I think that the thunder scares them! haha their so cute!

  • They dont eat crickets!

  • I just got one and i was reading up on them. I took mine out and he looks okay but his tiny claw is missing the top part. it does not look like it fell off. It looks like it was "torn/crushed off" Though im not sure if it did indeed fell off since its new and it was not like that before. Since it no long has the function of the small claw, will it die?

  • Your hermit crabs seem very active!

  • i have 22 hermit crabs and i have a 10 gallon tank is that bad??

  • @makeupgoat yes.There should be 3-6 hermits in a 10 gallon.

  • @makeupgoat there should only be 2-5 in a 10 gallon...

  • nice crab tank

  • can you cross breed?

  • They chirp some times when they breed.Or for no reason. My six hermit crabs are all digging. From largest to smallest,Larry,Hermie,Gary,Twinkle,Sarge,Supercrab.

  • i think my hermit crab had babies because very small thigns like almost impossible to msee were coming out of them when i gave them a quick water bath than my mom got rid of them because she didnt know what they were I think the ehrmit crabs were cool but whatevs im trying to think of a new pet my mom would let me keep besides fish

  • you're so good at this thank you!

  • i love hermit crabs and i love your videos they are great. Also you terrarium is very very nice i have a 20gal tank but it is not as nice as yours. Hope the hermit crabs are doing good.

  • My hermits crabs only go by the heater, how can I make them explore the rest of the cage?

  • how many hermit crabs should be in a 10 gallon? Please make another update!!!!

  • @Bee5productions

it depends on the size of your tank, I have 3 in a 22 gal tank and they are bigger than a golf ball, gives them more room & more toys

  • @Bee5productions like most 5

  • My hermit crab ninja is just like George!! He never sits still! Btw love the video! :)

  • u know to one Rose (painted shell befor) well one of mine looks the exact same like really same size same color same shell its weird

  • LOVE IT!!! Your crabs look so happy! you're such a good crab owner

  • NICE. tht must of been expensive. lol

  • Lol they get high off of the food u give them

  • I got some 2!

  • your crabs r soo active compareded to mine. mine r always asleep!

  • @PETSalltheway

try raising the heat and humidity - use a heat mat and spray the tank often - and dont use a plastic tank, use glass- worked for me

  • so if i catch a cricket and kill it they will eat it ant they will become active like this?

  • what are you feeding them that makes them so active?

  • Comment removed

  • why r your hermit crabs so active

  • The sponges are for allowing water to evaporate easier, providing the humidity needed for crabs to breathe properly. The humidity should be between 70% and 90%. The sponge has more surface area, soaking up the water and acts like a natural humidifier for the tank.

  • @osiris9510 sponges are not needed, you keep substrate moist that keeps humidity, sponge harbors bacteria, just like using one to clean your counters over & over they get nasty & make you sick. landhermitcrabscom is free to join!

  • even if they are hiding it dont mean they are molting

  • @dogalicis work on ur grammer there buddy

  • Woohps...GrammAr....

  • Do you use sea salt? I do its good for them also I feed mine flowers roses, daylillies, clover they love flowers.

  • SAND shoud be sandcastle moist. I use playsand its cheaper than reptile sand never use hermit soil that stuff attracts mites.

  • can crabs live in craft sand?

  • if you mean play sand yes but you should first use a magnet or some thing metal to attract and remove some metal peices just incase it has metal in it, then you should bake it at 300 degrees for 15 minutes i believe to kill germs

  • can you tell me where you got that vine with the purple flower, it would be great in my tank

  • is half of your substrate sawdust/ wood chips? is that ok?

  • It's half playsand and half Eco-Earth.

  • i love your cage but i have a question all my hermit crab died yesterday and its bg claw fell out and all of them have been burying themselves since i got my new one should i be concerned

  • It seems like my hermit crabs are more intrested in diging then eating and drinking is there a way to stop that.

  • nice tank my hermit crab lazy how can he become active?

  • how do you get them so active??

  • hey love your crabs & crabitat <3

  • great video. you are a great owner. i have 2 and they are really lazy. yours and mine are really healthy =). keep up the good work. ;)

  • you have a good setup but you need sand castel consistancy sub but geat video

  • you did such a good job!!

you should make more videos like this!!

**EVERY ONE** listen to people like this!!!

  • i love ur hermits mine are not as active

  • Great video, cute hermies! But shouldn't your substrate be deeper? It should be at least twice the size of the biggest crab. Also, the water dishes ought to be deep enough for them to completely submerge in it. But you know a lot more than most other crab keepers, great job! Your crabitat looks great.

  • your hermies look heathly i like the plan shells their healther

    :)

  • i'm sure ur hermies are really happy and healthy with u as their owner!!!

  • where did you get those shells?and look at george go crazy in the background

  • your a great crabber!stay crabby:)

  • mine is really lazy

  • Nice video!I got a small hermit crab and a little bigger. older hermit crab yesterday and i put them in a 30 X 30 X 45 cm tank and the older one does not really come out his shell much.I have shell grit that ok?I have drift wood, will they eat it?do they need a sponge?i live in australia and it does not get that cold here. Where do u get the sponges?where did you get hermit hut from? if you made it how did you? sorry for all the questions but it would be great if you reply.CRAB POWER!

    THANK YOU

  • They like to eat crickets to?

Dang they'll eat pretty much anything nowadays.

  • Thats one NICE terrarium! Cute crabs to!

    :]

  • how long do they live?

  • if u take good care up to 20 yrs

  • You substrate doesn't appear deep enough it should be 4-5 times the height of your largest hermit crab.

  • when do herit crabs chrip

  • when do hermit crabs chirp .

  • It's not really certain when they do chirp. I've heard mine chirp a few times, but very rarely. Some think that they chirp when they feel in danger, others feel they chirp when the environment and conditions are just right and they feel at home. There is no real evidence. But I have only heard them maybe 2 times in 4 years.

  • My tank is probably cooler but i can't show this on youutbe

  • do hermit crabs like peanut butter

  • Yes, well mine like it :)

  • im a hermit crab begginer i haved 2 hermit crabs but last week 1 died because my hermit crab shelly killed my other hermit crab nemo so i was wondering if you could give me some tips on carring for them i got antother one today named aqua

  • Sorry about your crabbie! :(

Surprisingly they can be mean sometimes.

One thing to remember is that there needs to be enough room for them to hide and have thier own hiding spot.

Another, is to keep plenty of shells around. They will fight for another crabs shell as well, and actually rip them out of it.

Always keep a variety of foods in there. There are several reasons they might kill.

Also, be careful about putting large ones in with smaller ones. They will canabalize sometimes...

  • when do they molt because they said that when a hermit crab molt do i have to separate the crabs. and because i brought him from the pet store and they hate hermit crab pellets from the pet store so do you feed your crab peanut butter becuse they love peanut butter and i am mot going to feed them that anymore because it contains chemicails in it so i'm going to start feeding them healthy food so can they eat organic or from the supermarket

  • Oh yeah- and yes, you should seperate them when you notice their claws or pinchers looking kinda cloudy. Get one of those small plastic terrariums (about 12" long) with dirt filled at least half full. (or sand)I just put water in there. when they molt they will eat thier exoskeleton, so put that in there with them. (They should have any other food in there, as thier exo will provide all thier nutrients..they do this in the wild..)

  • i am waiting for queen my biggiest crab to change shells but it is a painted shell but i have a lot of natraul shells because painted shells are not good for them so i am just wating for him to change shellsa

  • i have 6 hermit crabs and when do they change shells

  • They can change shells anytime they like. Sometimes they just like trying new ones on. Other times, they change them when they outgrow thier current shell, or sometimes when thier other shell isn't comfortable. I've noticed mine sarting changing shells right before they molt. Remember to always leave extra shells in there for them. Some a little bigger or even some that look too big. I have a crab who always picks HUGE shells..go figure. you never know what they like!

  • This video is awesome! Your tank is cool!

  • awesome cage

    WOW!

  • Wow, mine is the same as the non'stop movung one! Except different kindmof shell and crab!

  • lol i have 4 hermit crabs, rambo, runt, mr. blue, and senor green lol i got no idea y i call them that... o well

  • how many hermits got

  • sweet!

  • surprisingly enough- I think the best place to find items for your crab tanks is in the Fish/Aquarium isle or even the reptile isle in the pet store. I usually go to PetSmart or Petco. If you don't have those in your area I'd go to thier websites! :)

  • um please answer this question. where id you get that huge tree in the middle of your tank? i wass looking for something like that but i dont know where to find one.

  • I love your videos (I have 5 hermit crabs :D). I have a question - do they like the sand to be wet? Reason I ask is I have always had dry sand in the tank but one day I spilt their water dish and it soaked the sand and they seemed to like the wet sand better. Should I always have the sand wet or should the sand be dry?

  • I always find that they seem to like the sand a little bit moist. I think it is better for them to dig and burrow in than dry sand. ie: My crabbies always make a tunnel or cave that they can hide in in the sand- they couldn't do that without it being damp. Just mist the sand at least once a day and it should stay perfect.

  • arnt you supposed to have a sponge in the water?

  • Not neccesarily. If you think about it, do they use one on the wild? Certainly not. My crabs have never had a problem getting thier water out of the bowl. I always say, if you have small crabbies that might drown in the dish, then use one. Otherwise, there is no point in having one in there unless you are preventing drowning or need to add more moisture into the terrarium. (Since they don't drink from a spong in the wild- there is no need..)

  • great aquarium! :)

  • Great 'tat!

  • ur accent is so cool

  • i like george. hes my new budd ^.^ lol

  • i like this vid cuz it shows really good care and love for your hermit crabs i just got one and i am trying very hard to make him happy this vid helped me thanks :)

  • thats an amazing setup i think they like it

  • WOW! You are an amazing crab owner! Im glad that there are ppl like u and me in this world

  • Lovely set up! Thanks for caring.

  • i wish my crabs were super active even if im around them

  • Do you handle them?

  • where did you get ya crabs?

i got mine from a bloke in an alley...

  • wierd i sell hermit crabs in an alley

  • Yeah that's what I was thinking too, when I bought all 6 of mine, hehe. That they live up to 30 years, aren't very dirty or hard to take care of. Non allergenic, and how many apartments will say "no pet hermit crabs"? It's usually cats or dogs you aren't allowed.

    I <3 them

  • i normally dont like crabs but your are great i wish you sold your crabs

  • aww..I'll accept that as a compliment coming from someone who doesn't like them :) Thanks!

  • How long have you had crabs?

  • LOL- that sounds more like a personal question. :)

Anyways, I've had Hermit Crabs for the past 3 years now. They have actually been the most interesting pet I've ever had. I've had cats, dogs, cocatiels, Iguanas, cameleons, hamsters..you name it..I had it as a pet growing up!)

  • lol yeh it does and kool

  • awwe you have the nicest set up for them!

  • They are the only pet I am not allergic to, so they will be spoiled! :)I can only hope that those that see my set up will follow my lead and spoil thier crabbies as well! Thanks for visiting and subscribing!

  • :O holy shit wat a cage
