yea sexydiver16 but there are sites with good dive stories on the net too. The myscubastory site has the best. They also have dive accident stories and videos; lost buddy stories and shark encounter videos. all of them are true life. Type myscubastory into google and its the first site.
@Cavar21 you can find some vids on youtube that'll give you some tips. you basically force air out of your ears by plugging your nose and gently blowing out. this will relieve all the pressure that you feel. I do it every 5-7 feet down or so
What if you go too deep and run out of breath and while your going up you drown?
And why the fuck would anyone make a pool that deep when they know no-one is gona go that deep and come back up dead? And I could barely hold my breather for like 15 seconds.
Sorry to disappoint ButtsontheBarbie, but the 'rescue' looks to me like the standard rescue drill from 10m that all freedivers need to do to get their 1*. I've been the 'rescue dummy' for courses at the SETT, and I can assure you that it's not at all dangerous -- we just need to know and practise the drills in case an emergency arises. (I've never seen a blackout in all my visits.)
@jollyholly to reach.,..25 m or so that has this pool takes like 30 seconds more or less IMPOSSIBLE a human black out after this time breath holding even if you were excited or nervous, i bet is just a simulated black out so they show us how to rescue.....anyway black out always 99% tends to happen when u already reaching surface never at the deppest point....so it has to be a simulation
There not getting the bends because they are not staying down there long enough. Is that the correct answer? the "bends" is a rapid expansion of nitrogen bubbles in your bloodstream caused by coming up too fast after being past a certain depth. If you just go down and come back up, it would be hard to get the bends. Now if im wrong someone please correct me. but its not "compressed air at depth" that gives you the bends, its not decompressing properly on the way up.
You are correct that the "bends" are caused by nitrogen bubbles.
BUT only if you inhale compressed air, therefore the total pressure of gas in your body will be more than 1BAR and you will have an overload of gas (both oxygen and nitrogen). The oxygen gives no problems, the nitrogen does as it cannot escape the body quickly.
When you do not inhale compressed air under water (like free divers) you have no problems and you do not need to decompress.
I'm starting to like free diving. I have never done it before, well apart from holding my breath swimming under water along a pool foor but that doesnt really count. I can move ok but my breathing is really shit. Obviously smoking wouldnt help but I am glad to say i have recently quit succcesfully, but other than that, does anybody know anyways i can train myself to hold my breath for longer please?
Hold your breath, and if you feel like:"I can't go on", hold it for 5-10 more seconds, if you do this about 3times a day, you will be able to hold your breath longer.
This is so good to watch, brings back memories. !0 years ago i was one of the first groups to go freediving in the SETT with Howard Jones. 29 and getting old :-)
Would love to try the SETT tank, think I went diving w/ Omar off the coast of Hatteras in 99'. Like rock quarries myself only been 60' (20m). Do you get the mammalian dive reflex in the tank or is it too warm?
@jhesketh75 nice video!! Freediver myself. Love the audio track on here. Can you message me the info for the track?
