  • Yeah, the sequel's supposed to come out in May of '13. Thanks for your comments!

  • R they even going to make a sequel to this movie cuz this is news to me if they are I didn't think they would.

  • I absolutely love that last scene (Spock looking back at Kirk who just left the picture). Especially timed with the "Want your bad romance" in the lyrics. That's about what the look seems to say... ;) (or maybe I just forgot my slash goggles on woops)

  • I would not be averse to a love triangle ;)

  • Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too! :)

  • Very clever. Merry Xmas Spirk. :) Songs

  • Uhura never showed any interest in Kirk. She refused to tell her first name to him.

I saw no evidence that shwe wanted him. It was never a love triangle.

But I like the song and clips. :).

  • I don't know what's wrong woth you guys who hate the nerdy love triangles,

    "But I like em'."

I think they need to get Bones and Chaple in more the next one.

  • I am not worried about a love triangle, I think Kirk not only was merely amused with Uhura in the new movie, but that his first love is his Ship. Good thing too, because any woman would take issue with his rather intimate approach to diplomacy.

  • I'd say from 2:26 to 2:50 is sexy x3

  • Wrong a love triangle wouldn't go amise, I've been a trekkie as long as I can remember. Scifi addict. Come on have you read the fan fiction out there? Kirk and Spock forever, poor Uhura.

  • I hope Uhura is a larger part of the next Star Trek. Zoe Saldana is awesome. I would love to see Uhura kick some sci-fi ass. Something the original Uhura was denied by the restrictions of the time. And Uhura/Spock is canon to this long time fan.

  • This makes me want to watch the movie even more! I love how Spock and Kirk have this bromance ( or even actual love) between them and I don't think Uhura has any right to meddle with that! lol Just saying! (please bear with me I haven't watched the movie yet so im sorry) My question is: How did this whole Uhura/Spock thing start? I know I should watch the movie but I would like an answer now! lul and I believe its: Kirk and Uhura fighting over Spock. :3

  • Lady Gaga + Star Trek = WIN. Simple equation, and one you pulled off with certainty and flair. Good work! Thumbs up!

  • hmm maybe they did it because they tend to have at least 1 strong woman in movies nowadays.

Anyhow... I'm a Trekkie, and NO!!! With neon lights and stickers, NO NO NO I don't want any love triangle whatsoever in ST!! I do want more McCoy and Scotty...

Zachary Quinto is hot btw. As Spock, double so.

  • I've got one question: Where's McCoy in all of this lovefest?!! If they (the creaters of new Star Trek) are gonna set up a love triangle then for God's sake, at least put Bones in there somewhere!

  • @NCISHouseHPPotCfan HAHAHA! Aw, poor Bones. He's always being forgotten. Maybe they can bring back Chapel or at least let there be an epic K/S/Mc bromance friendshippy deal. I'd be up for that. They need to bring back the "trinity"!!

  • Okay, I'm confused. Is the triangle Kirk and Spock fighting over Uhura, or Kirk and Uhura fighting over Spock? You don't see a lot of Kirk/Uhura in fanfiction, and the movie has shown that Kirk disgusts her. However, I can't imagine them publicly putting Kirk/Spock in the movie.

  • @Darkfire315 I can't see them putting in K/S either. All I want is for Kirk and Spock's friendship to be allowed to develop naturally without a love triangle of Kirk and Spock fighting over Uhura to get in the way. She might like him better once he starts acting like a responsible captain - who knows? I really hope that doesn't happen. *crosses fingers* I also don't want the S/U thing to overshadow the larger "exploring space" plot.

  • @Darkfire315 I'm not that delusional to think that they'd put canon k/s in the movie! LOL

I just want them to have an epic friendship. I don't want them to create a K/U/S triangle just for the sake of OMG DRAMA.

  • i loved the 2009 movie but the 1 thing that irked me was uhura n spock. not even in a slashy way but its just supposed to be kirk that makes spock feel comfy enough to act 'human" not a woman. you know what i mean? i honestly FF when they kiss..it bugs me. but i get why they did it i guess.

  • IMO, i didn't want any pairings. In TOS, I thought Spock and Uhura had a great freindship. It's always been my head-cannon that Uhura was his closest female companion. And actually, if you're a hxc trekkie, in the extra clips in the TOS dvds, the lady who played Uhura said that Uhura had someone else, someone back on earth.

As far as Kirk/Spock goes, I like it, i kinda ship it, but I don't (or was expecting it to be) want it cannon. That's what fandom is for. Their friendship is already perfect

  • I hated the Uhura/Spock coupling. It just didn't sit right with me. And I don't want a ridiculous love triangle either. Uhura should just get with Kirk and be done with it.

  • 1:08 mind's in the gutter... XD

  • I'm all for yaoi, but I just don't see Kirk/Spock.

I like SpockXUhura even though every other Trekkie hates it. I think it's cute. But yes, I really don't want there to be a triangle. Just get Kirk some other chick... I can't see him being steady in any relationship... XD That's why he's Kirk... Get him several womens.... Do it...

  • You missed the point of the vid - I just didn't want a love triangle in the sequel. Realistically, I'd go for Spock/Uhura if it has to be there, and have Kirk and Spock be good friends.

  • Sry JJ Abrams but you need to WAKE UP AND SMELL THE FRIKKIN SPIRK COFFEE!!!!

HELLOOOO?? Can't you SEE their beautiful relationship with each other that has been around for decades now?? SURELY that couldn't of been ignored in a new movie...but no. You had to go and make a LOVE TRIANGLE between Kirk Spock AND Uhura. Really Abrams....WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?????

    *shakes head in disappointment*

  • I understand the need for change, but when the change isn't handled in the best manner, then I have a hard time accepting it.

    Great vid!

  • guys really, if you want old trek, watch old trek. The one thing star trek has done consistently is change. Don't expect it to be be the same and you won't be disappoint. You would think that people who like sci-fi would be more appreciative of change.

  • We don't expect it would be the same, but we expect the essence of the characters to be the same. If that's not intact, why remake Star Trek at all? Kirk and Spock are supposed to be BFFs in any universe. It's like a Trek constant or something. :)

  • If J.J. really claims to have watched TOS before making this movie he can't have missed that even McCoy had to step back when Kirk and Spock stood togetheer, let alone a woman.

LET THESE MAN DO THEIR JOB FOR STAR TREK!

  • To the Creators of ST XII,

please come to reason and end the illogical Spock/Uhura romance. No offense to Uhura but it just wouldn't work, you know. We do know Spock and believe us: it wouldn't work. Besides, he wouldn't show his attachement that openly anyway. Except maybe to his one true friend Kirk and even there he finds better, subtler and more fun ways. Go for their friendship and loyalty as that's the thing that'll last!! Everything else will be only hassle.

    Trekker&Spirker,

    T'Racionn

  • Dear Creators of Star Trek XII,

Please stick to what Star Trek does best: social commentary, dramatic action, moral dilemmas, loyalty, friendship, family, technobabble, and good winning in the end. Please stay away from romantic triangles and focus on the above.

Also, more McCoy please, the man is the third member of the trio for a reason.

    Sincerely,

    A fan

  • I'm so with you on that. One reason why ST has become the myth-like series is the amount of integrity and humanity in it, a political utopia of mutual respect and peace, all together LOVE, portrayed for instance in K/S.

If a moviemaker does not pay tribute to that, then it's not Star Trek but just another Sifi-Opera like ST-Enterprise. Thank God that immature spin-off was killed after painful 4 seasons.

Just my opinion which no one is forced to share of course...

  • @BadgerPride89 sincerely, all the fans

  • Omg! This is pretty much the same way I felt about Star Trek when I first watched it! I wasn't happy that they put Spock and Uhurah together (mostly because I liked Spock and had no idea about Spirk at the time) and now i'm even more frusterated because it's also killing Spirk! If only JJ Abrams looked on youtube and saw all of the hungry fans searching for that!

  • Was there a love triangle in HP? I've only seen the movies once, so I probably missed it, but the dynamic struck me more as similar to Kirk, Spock & McCoy.

Oh, but POTC. I look at that and I see a worst case scenario for Kirk, Spock & Uhura. Oh please no!

My best case scenario is Sherlock, Watson & Mary, which I can totally see happening in the sequels.

I really don't think we will get a triangle though. The way they were talking about it in the commentary, it seemed like something that was

  • completely contained within the first movie. They said something along the lines of 'this is a unique love triangle in that it was over pretty much before it began', since Uhura was with Spock all along and she wasn't into Kirk anyway.

At the same time, though, love triangles are an easy way to create dramatic tension, and I'm not sure if I trust Abrams to not go the easy route, given that his answer to everything seems to be 'MOAR LENSFLARE OMG!'

  • The HP one was mostly in fandom, with the Harry/Hermione shippers against the Ron/Hermione shippers. Sometimes it was like flat out war! It almost tore the online fandom apart, and I don't want that for trek.

  • IMHO, in the next movie Uhura needs to be less of a controlling, conniving b*tch, and Spock needs to be just a LITTLE less ready to fly off the handle. (And not act whipped, either.) Kirk was actually very well done. I applaud your video; having a messy triangle could ruin everything, and then we'd have to get Spock Prime back in there to smack some sense into them!

  • Yeah, I mean I could see how Uhura would be mad at Kirk, but he touched her boobs on accident. What did she expect his reaction to be, disgust? Not our man! Haha.

As for Spock, hopefully the raw emotion from losing his mom and his planet would have dissipated. And with Kirk in command, Spock won't be punishing him... outside their quarters that is ;)

  • your right we dont want any love triangle hopefully the next movie gives Uhura more personality then Spocks girlfrined

    besides i want Spirk

  • Exactly! I'd love to have her be a bit more feminine while still holding her own with the guys.

  • I want Spirk !

  • Curse Uhura!! I love her, but I really wanna see something Bigger with Spirk.

    Great Video!

  • Uh, that's really not the point of this vid. Uhura's a great character, she just wasn't given an opportunity to be more than 'Spock's girlfriend'. Hopefully that will change.

I just don't want Kirk hitting on her and trying to steal her away from Spock, thus ruining any chance for them to be friends.

  • I know that just venting my Spirk opinion lol,

and I think Kirk knows by now what not to do, but being himself he's most likely to question what Uhura is doing with an emotionless guy. Or at least try a TINY bit of something. But after what he and Spock's been through, he won't do anything, and even if he does I'm sure Uhura will set him straight and keep things in order.

  • Oh, ok! Haha. Ideally Spirk would be great, but I'm trying to be realistic. But we can work with friendship moments, yes we can! XD

Yeah, I mean I can see him doing maybe a bit of casual flirting (hopefully not on the bridge) but I can't see him wanting to jeopardize his friendship with Spock.

  • Yeah, as sad as it makes me, I know there won't be a lot of Spirk love as I'm dreaming of. A great bromance friendship thing, that could be, and is hopefully possible.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd maybe drop hints or what not, but I don't see him doing A LOT at least, not while Spock is around. But, they are just starting a friendship, and unless the second movie jumps a few years, it may be rocky for sometime. Which is like any friendship.

  • Agreed. Although I did hear they might do it a few years later, not sure how reliable that article was.

  • Well that would be cool, either way. Guess will just have to wait and see. Either way, I'm going to love it.

  • i so love this vidoe it so cool and sweet
