  • love the song simple gifts at 5:37-6:55

  • @AgentKaitou8444 Can you tell me the lyrics, please!?

  • I'm crying at this in my mid-20's!!!!

  • I wonder if any of the actors are still on tv now and then?

  • Ouch, my childhood.

  • That Number 1 going to the singing of 'Tis a Gift. The best Christmas Carrol in my opinion

  • It still chokes me up each time I see this. Interestingly I actually saw this on TV back in 1990. When I see this I feel like I am back at my old house in 1990, and I'm happy seeing Ringo Starr as Mr. Conductor and Thomas, and well It reminds me how much I love Christmas, Santa, Mother, Mom-Mom, and well Thomas the Tank Engine. This is probably my Number 1 Christmas scene. All things were magical and anything is possible. In fact I am crying right now, for I still love this 21 years later.

  • Lloyd Bridges was also in Honey, I BLEW UP the Kid.

  • I mean we have shows about practically everything why not shows like this anymore. is hope really that taboo? I am supposed to believe that hope is more taboo that knowing who slept with who on the Jersey's Shore. . What do kids have to hope for now? "Oh kids one day you to can be cheated or do the cheating and be called name". In closing I say the problem with kids today is there is no magic no hope nothing. We need to give hope to our children.

    End rant>

    thanks for uploading these episodes.

  • Heck I don't eve remember the last time I saw Christmas special that wasn't either trying to kill Santa Clause or having him dying (American Dad and Family Guy I am looking at you). I have nothing against these shows mind you they are great for what they are. They are parodies of modern life and they are hilarious. All I am asking that we have shows like this to balance things out.

  • You know what astounds me? The fact that all these people sitting around discussing why kids are so mean and dark today haven't figured out why. You want to know why? Because there aren't shows like this anymore. Think about it when was last time you saw Shining Time Station o?. No I don't mean that filler Thomas the Tank. I am talking about Shining Time Station. Ya I can't remember either.

  • @matthatter56 last time I saw STS on TV was about 1997.

  • Good bye Mr. Conductor

  • This always makes me tear abit

  • At 26 I still Remember this show and This is reason why I love trains. Thank you Shinning time Station and to Thomas the Tank Engine. I am in tears right now I want to go back to when i was 6

  • Even though I'm 21 now, I still tear up watching this episode. I don't care if I'm a guy, great music will move me.

  • I am 21 years old and when I watch this it brings me back to the early 90's where my mom and dad would watch this with me, and things where simpler. My dad is going through a lot of medical stuff now and watching this makes me wish instead of me having to take care of him I could go back to a time where he took care of me with no medical problems. I hope when I have a kid when Christmas comes around I can sit down with him or her and watch this in hopes it in packs them as it does me

  • Good, clean children's shows. It makes my heart ache to think kids dont get to grow up the way we did with this show, mighty morphin power rangers, Sesame street, cat paws, exc...

  • when is George Carlin's first ep? (Title)?

  • @bostonscholar >> I think it was the Halloween episode, but I can't remember the name of it.

  • @van8ryan It's called "Scare Dares." And it was the first episode of the second season, the first time George Carlin played Mr. Conductor after Ringo Starr left the show, and Harry Cupper is replaced by Billy Twofeathers, who is also a locomotive engineer and mechanic.

  • @bostonscholar "Scare Dares."

  • *looks back at childhood. Thank you STS for the greatest memories.

  • What is the name of the song that Vicky and everyone sang?

  • @joeywomer simple gifts

  • Why she wasn't used more in the show I'll never understand.

  • @RetroVideoFan

I'm thinking the third kid, "Becky" was actually supposed to be the same character, they just had Miner replaced with a similar looking and sounding actress and altered her name for some reason. That's just a theory I have, I'm not really sure about it. If you disagree, I don't mind.

  • This Is Vicky!!!

  • I loved this show when I was a kid, The theme song brings me to tears now when I think of the times when I was a child and anything really did seem possible. Now as a college student with so much stress and worry, it was nice to take the time to remember when my imagination was all that mattered. I really needed this, thank you :)

  • Lloyd Bridges on Shining Time Station....hard to believe I never saw this. Amazing how much talent this show gathered....Ringo Starr.....the late great George Carlin..........this was an awesome show!

  • I love the ending of this one!

  • I really miss this show.

  • Schemer had ever spoiled Vicki was an nonsenical dress as Santa helper, and even Nicholas in sercet he's Saint Nicholas, made her happy is to believe in Joyful Givings!

  • I think the song is properly titled Simple Gifts; John Williams wrote a variation of it for Barack Obama's inauguration. I remember watching the ceremony and thinking 'damn, where have I heard this song before.' And then I flashed back to Shining Time Station.

  • @acolytexiv You're absolutely right. The proper title is, in fact, in the episode credits.

  • I remember watching this show as a kid. still brings a smile to my face to see these old episodes.

  • They should re-broadcast this show every day not this particular episode everyday but this show in general but this episode every Christmas

  • @Jahampt Absloutely. They should find the old Shining Time Stations and re release them! Especially this one, especially so that a new generation can appreciate this classic.

  • Thank you for uploading. I think they should re-broadcast this every year around the time.

  • yea this is so much better than the new thomas crap. i think it's worth watching the whole episode just to hear vicki sing at the end

  • "santa says give your money to schemer"

    XDXDXDXD

    LOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

  • awe, that's so sweet,

  • this was ring last epsisoe

  • Vicky's song should go down as one of the greatest christmas special moments of all time.

  • @rswan5 Maybe The Nostalgia Critic can mention it in one of his Top 11 vids. I mean, he must remember this show.

  • I remember this show as a kid. i loved it. brings tears of joy to my eyes to see it again.

  • you are indeed correct

  • This, I do believe, was the last episode to feature Ringo Starr as Mr. Conductor.

  • This was my favorite show when I was little...I loved Mr.Conductor...I remember George Carlin...but he never replaced Ringo...such memeories...

  • i love christmas, ause it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

  • I love Vicky's song. She has a beautiful voice.

  • I have to agree

  • @sailorearth2007

Is it actually the actress's own singing?

  • @sweetlife031 I think so

  • @sweetlife031 I think it is, and damn, is she good.

  • get lost baycalpainting

  • Oh What a great ending to the season 1 finale! Thanks for tese wonderful memories Trey! Your so nice and kind upload all these oldies but godies!

  • and why r u sayin this on youtube...? also why on a shining times station video, also i have a webcam so i might talk

  • When our son was three years old, Shining Time Station with Thomas the Tank Engine episodes was his absolute FAVORITE program! We saw this particular episode that Christmas time - and ever since whenever I hear the song "Tis A Gift" I am immediately brought back to that very special time for our Family. Thanks you for putting this here so we can watch it. Itis magnificent. BTW - my son is now a 19 year old college student. How the time flies!

  • i'm 19 and i still remember being devistated when this show went off the air!

The song is "simple gifts' from aaron copland's ballet "appalation spring".

    great song.

  • 16 going on 17

Only saw the George Carlin episodes

It is great the Ringo Starr episodes

  • I haven't watched this show in along time and I missed watching this show

  • I love watching this show, and I'm 18!

  • im 14

  • When I was like 8 years old, my parents loved Vicky's song that they made me sing it in front of my relatives during that Christmas, and I didn't want to.

  • LOL "Ho ho ho, oh little girl, how can I help you? Oh, so you'd like a doll that makes you bed, brushes your teeth, and eats your vegetables? Hey, so do I! Oho ho ho, ho ho ho!"

  • Does anybody happen to know if that's really Rachel Miner singing or not?

  • Oh yes it is. And I think she's cute. She was 10 years old in that show.

  • @amwfan88

I was wondering that too. I was told...it probably is

  • the song vicky sang made me cry. it was so beautiful

  • I think it's the best part of the entire special. I just finished watching the whole thing and thought it was worth watching it just to see this part.

  • I love happy endings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Next to Carol of the Bells, Tis the Gift (or what ever it is called) is my favorite Christmas song.

  • yeah i thought thats how they did it

  • nickdreyer7890, they made Ringo Starr small when he played Mr. Conductor with computer effects on a green screen then shrunk him on the computer. I think, so that answers your question.

  • i liked ringo starr as mr. conductor? how did they make him that small?

  • @nickdreyer7890 Forced perspective. Ringo's scenes are filmed separately and he stands about 50 feet away from the camera, then, the other characters' footage is shot where they have to pretend they're speaking to Mr. Conductor, then Ringo's footage is inserted. Maybe Ringo stands off camera and reads his lines to help the actors?

  • she sang that wrong but that's ok

  • Well I think not. She sang that "this is only coming from me", just fine

  • me too i'm just one of those picky ppl sorry

  • The guy who played Nicholas (or Nick, whatever you called it) died of natural causes. (Turns gloomy) It's so sad I read it on IMDB.

  • I can hear The Northern Star's whistle after the Shining Time Station outro theme, just like Mr. Nicholas had said.

  • You add this video when I fisrt film the Thomas & Friends

episode "Thomas Saves The Day," I upload this video since 9-14-06.

  • One of my favorite songs.

  • You got that right. I think this makes all of us feel young again.

  • Truly One the most heartfelt songs in the history of the show.

  • Good Old Saint Nick.

  • I read the sign of Schemer's costume that says "Santa Says, 'Give Your Money To Schemer!'"

  • this made me feel young again ^-^

  • One of My Favorite songs
