  • Completely agree! Amazing how this gets into your head and remains! Love it.

  • What brand and model organ is that? Fafisa? Vox? Something else? Musicians who are '60's fans wanna know!

  • @TranscendentBen Hello, it is NOT a VOX "Continental", that was typically used by many groups of the era. The only remaining choice then, is a model by FARFISA, although if it is that, it is not the one typically seen in groups that used that brand of organ. Maybe a prototype, or? From a fellow 60's fan, who lived in the era in real time.

  • the Buddy Holly pre-geek look

  • It was a rule in the '60s that you had to have a nerdy-looking guy with glasses and the Bill Gates look to round out the band. This band has the nerd-guy. How does an organ player look cool in the '60s?! LOL!

  • @SkidRowJosephine Really, Bill Gates? He was born in 1955. Nothing to do with the 60s scene. Nothing.

  • ARE YOU FUCKIN' KIDDING ME?........OR WHAT!!

  • Great song.

  • Because hes a dick?

  • awesome! but i dont understand the host, why would he think an electric organ was a strange sound?

  • I liked this when it was first released, but didn't know anything about the band until lately, after finding them on YT and Wikipedia. In my imagination, I always pictured them as a couple of guys on a keyboard and a guitar playing Holiday Inn or Ramada lounges. LOL

  • As usual, music from Minnesota

  • My mother was a go-go dancer in the sixties and can still shake it up today at her sixty something age its like shes 23 again, great song.I love to watch my mom teach young girls the go-go dances.FAROUT MAN!

  • First time I heard this I thought it was a black group with a black girl singing the liar liar part. but it is just him singing in falsetto.

  • I remember this tune from grade school days. From the start, it gets your pulse pounding ... then, that primal wild-man SCREAM!!!!!! and white-hot guitar interlude send it through the roof!

  • Never heard of this group or this song. It wasn't on American Bandstand either...lol

One hit wonders. How soon they are forgotten.

  • Great music from a fantastic era!

  • The Castaways Released their only Hit in 1965 called " Liar Liar "

  • Nice 60's were the best.

  • they just strolled on in lol. guitarist is cool. that high pitched riff with the bend is sweet

  • What a great song, I have this as my ringtone on my cell phone. In regards to the dancer on the right, most say its a guy. I think its probably the fat ugly daughter of the tv station's owner who insisted that his "little" princess be allowed to dance on the show.

  • Totally love this song, but why does the singer lift up the bottom of his guitar at the very beginning? I've played myself literally for decades, but still don't know why some performers do the things they do.

  • Wonderful this song!!! I love a go go myself!!!! A fan from Mexico and you know something, guys? I'm learning to dance a go go... Well, I hadn't been born yet at that time. Anyway, long live to a go go!!! ¡Qué viva el a go go!!

  • Brilliant and influential music from a group of highschool kids in 1965. Tight band.

  • Garage rock at it's best. Great to see the dancers doing the mashed potato too.

  • I LOVE IT

    M-L FROM SWEDEN

  • This music was so "Cool" during it's time in rock and roll history and I sure do miss the go-go dancers... Jim Donna is bitchin on the keyboard.

  • The dancer at the upper far right is DEFINITELY A GUY! He outsizes all the other dances by about twice the weight, and also appears to have NEVER gogo'd before - absolutely no rehearsel time - that's for sure. No way would have a girl with that figure made it past casting. I think this was done as a joke - probably even the Castaways didn't know what was going on behind them. GREAT practical joke!

  • Hahahaha!! I think you are right.

  • That is funny! I think you are right. Probably did it for a joke. One of which may have taken 45 years or so to solve.

  • what are you talking about ? that's my mum !

  • What a good eye you have! After looking a few times, Im laughing my a-- off!! I fully agree it's a guy, hahahahaha.

  • Yep it's a guy alright. Notice at the end how he tries to tuck in his shirt - but it's a dress! Then notice how he checks his wig to make sure it is still straight.

  • And he's a terrrrible dancer, hahaha. For those of you reading this, we're saying the dancer on the right is a guy.

  • What a nice pickup for a favorite!! Thank you for the post. A one hit wonder from a Minneapolis group.

  • what a great era for music

  • @walkingdead7 The best era for music :D

  • I was just noticing; Those go go dancers are like 10 feet in the air on this tiny platform! That would have been one nasty crash if one of them fell.

  • The dancer over the lead guitar players' left shoulder from :01 to :10 is an excellent dancer!

  • for some reason this song always reminds me of cats .... oh and lock stock ... weird that

  • where did all the go-go girls go to? thier soooo cool

  • Guitarist has one of the COOLEST beatnick beards i've seen!!! Groovy Stuff!!

  • I don't think that the lack of band mention affects royalties. I agree, though. So much so fake today.

  • Man this song cooks, and what ticks me off is it took me years to find out who played it and what the song title was because everytime they play it on the radio (oldies stations) they NEVER mention who it is or what the song title is. Why is that? You know the royalties bands like this miss out on because of that? I suspect payola, I mean what other reason is there? Sh*t like Paris Hilton can afford to pay off the right people to promote her fake record but real bands like this get screwed,

  • I don't know why djs do that, but I've experienced that too, where they just don't mention the name of the band....when I used to listen to radio.

  • I too thought one of them was a chick lol. I have the 45 of this. Great song!

  • I had the 45 when I was a kid too, but I got it from a flea market in the early 70s long after it was on the chart. I used to play it at least two or three times per, because it is such a short song.

  • haven't seen a madras shirt in a while

  • The keyboard player looks a little like the young Prince Charles.

  • awesome !!!!!!!

  • so dwn & dwn we go...

  • This is absolutely fabulous . Thanks for posting

  • Believe it or not, these guys are still together! (Most of them, anyway.) I saw them perform at A Taste of Minnesota (an annual outdoor food and music festival in St. Paul) in 2005 and again in 2006. And they're still pretty good!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • Real Music.

  • This song is too short... damned :X

  • I was a little girl in the 60's and you're right, instead of the cookie jar at age 4, you could always catch me playing these "45's", or "singles" as they were also known...they were wonderful. You think this is great, watch Hocus Pocus by Focus. Get ready!

  • I saw them on the in Concert show in 1972,what a piece of guitar work,we turned the tv up loud when When Hocus Pocus

played. And my mom came in and yelled at us to turn it down

which we did until she left the room.

  • Very nice of you to refer to Focus. I'm from the Netherlands and this song (liar liar) was a very misterious one, never seen any recordings on tv.But very good memories.

  • There first and only hit,

This song is addictive shit :D

  • i know very i didnt know it was two guys i thought 1 was a female

  • This clip is from the Larry Kane Show, in case anyone is wondering:)

  • this melodie also used in Opposites - Dom,Lomp en Famous

a dutch hiphop song, which is fucking greaaaat!

    check it!

  • Yep it was sampled in that hip-hop song by the Dutch group, its been sampeld in other songs too, its a great sample too use

  • Now THAT... is music! Today's music just doesn't come anywhere close!!!

  • kind of a creepy song, but good. weren't these guys considered a 'one hit wonder'.

  • where can i find a woman who moves like THAT?

  • grreat!!!

  • "All in!"

  • unfortunate about video quality but really cool tune with haunting effects!

  • Fuckin great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The dramatically-lit go-go dancers really complete the scene in an appealing manner.

  • THE best dance number of the mid-'60s. The beat is wickedly potent (the bass player just tears it up) and their overall sound is wildly eccentric and absolutely unforgettable. It's chock full of amazing ear worms that burrow deep into your head and stay forever. They don't do 'em like this anymore, that's for sure.

  • @dkfrey throw-in some hot little mama's shakin' it on down to the ground, and there just isn't anything missing here.

  • @dkfrey There were alot of burners and this is but one of 'em.

  • @dkfrey AND those lovely ladies are cuttin' the rug! There are just too-many good things going on here, all at the same time!

  • How come 60s footage of the zombies, the beatles or the animals are perfect but the castaways videos are terrible quality and sound?

  • s toch vele malen beter dan die opposites pauper zooi t blijft natuurlijk smaakverschil

  • Ja jezus, zoek een eigen sample!

  • A very strange sound!

  • euj diht wist ik niet:P

  • IK BEN DOM LOMP & FAMOUS!!

  • Who cares about "look"? The song is wonderful and the keyboard player was barely 20 and wrote it, the others were younger.

Oh, and I like them much more than drugged gangsta trip hop types without a future...

  • The opposites? Stelletje dieven! :D

  • samples gebruikt vrijwel iedere hip hop artiest.

  • samples gebruikt vrijwel "iedere artiest".

  • I cslled it the 60s'; idiots

  • I hate to break it to you all. I was 10 at the time. No such thing as punk, psycho, all this labelling crap. It was played

  • Briljante muziek

  • wie ben ik, ik ben die shit van al die rappers hier. Doe mij een flesje bier geef willie xtc. sjetjes daar sjetjes daar sjetjes hier :-p

  • ik ben dom, lop & famous!

  • I wouldnt call this 'surf'. It really has a more psychedelic and funky sound.

  • That's why it is featured on Rhino's record collection's CD box set of Garage Rock ("Artifacts from the first Psychedelic era"). It also is considered a proto-punk song, and the Castaways' are considered a proto-punk band.

  • yeah i said it because i saw some people label them as 'surf' here.

  • I love this song!

    this version is way better

  • how-come women don't move-and-groove like THIS anymore?

  • Good question! The 1960s and 1970s are known for supremely awesome music!!! Today? not so much...

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!

  • ik ben dom, lomp en famous =|

  • Haha ja klopt =P

  • Idd :S

  • Great song. I was five, six, or seven when this came out but remember it well. I liked it then and still do. These four guys are clean-cut and all-American, and we sure could use these types again. Glad to have found this after all these years! Thanks.

  • Fantastic song!!

Back then it was still ALL about the music, NOT the looks.

I detest the attitude of networks today, and the general public for that matter.....

    Thanks for sharing!!

  • I have to agree with Ruben.....a fantastic song from guys who didn't have the "rock star" look....these guys did more than pose...they played!

  • omg i dont have the words..

  • Nerds don't rock like this.

  • what a bunch of goons

  • Hardly. More like a bunch of hard-working college guys who enjoyed what they were doing and did a fantastic job at it. The best garage-music band of the decade and of all time.

  • A lot of people think these guys were Californians because of the surf sound, actually they were from St. Paul, Minnesota.

  • and? stupid information

  • I love that 60s surf rock sound. Very cool, lucyhuto.

  • that's what they ALL-say, ruth.

  • Q: is this the SAME band that did the theme to gillgans' island? because, after-all, they WERE called: The Castaways.

  • no tht was the Wellingtons. nice guess tho. lol

  • you're entirely right, and i'm entirely wrong, flibideegibbit, i stand corrected.

  • np guy, yer prob not the first to think tht.

  • it's better that i should swallow a little pride, and be WRONG, than as to NOT admit that i AM. Thanks! yer cool!

  • thanks for not being a so-and-so about it.

  • no prob

  • i love this old video!!!

  • Lol kids in my generation look like stupid crew cut kids from the early 1950's, before Elvis, it so embarrassing mate. Lets face it that band got rip off, you can just see it there on the clip. And the little killers sloppy, looking shits. And mate work on your spelling.

  • The fucking manager of this band needed his ass kick. He didn't even try to make them look hip.

  • You obviously where not around in the 60s or you would realise that they did look hip for the time, their look for the time would be equel to the Killers now. Stop judgeing everything by todays fashions.

  • Better than the way they look today, thanks the rap shit you call music. Sick of seeing these guys dress like a bunch of losers with their pants hanging half-way down their ass, wearing all thisn bling bling bling, and speaking with improper english.

  • Here we go again rap this rap that, man but the girls love the hip hop look, it that bad boy thing they think it sexy, girls love looking at young men butt. But I agree with lisa mate their manager just didn't care about them.

  • Dig that cuz!

  • that's what I'm talking about....this kind of song are making you feel good

  • Awesome tune. It's amazing how the lead guitar can sing the words while forming different words with his mouth. My last -- my last name is Donna.

  • I have an old 45 rpm of theirs with the songs "A Mans Gotta Be A Man" + "Goodbye Babe." :)

  • probably the hippest "unhip" looking band ever. a true classic track!

  • joel - your dad rocks!!!! fans from UMN
