  • @MeaEubanks1225

Darrell is greatly loved here in the UK. One of the most underrated singers ever. I bought this 45 in London in 1969 when I was just 14 years old. Have every thing he has ever done now. What a man!

    Love to you all.

  • Just keep getting better every time I hear him sing, its what music is all about, what a brilliant legacy to leave, true soul never dies.......

  • This is the first time I have ever seen or heard my Grandfather! Wish I could have known him.

  • @MeaEubanks1225. It really is a great shame not to have known him, you have much to be proud of Mea. Your grandfather holds a very special place in our hearts.

  • @docludi Thank you! I know he would be happy to know that his music is still loved! I had no idea that there would be any response to my post, I honestly just found your message on my YouTube home screen and I appologise that I took so long in responding to a very kind post. Thank you again!

  • They just don't make music like this anymore! Thank God I grew up with this playing and the memories will never die. RIP Darrell xxx

  • bob on

  • I consider this to be the finest soul recording ever made. The combination of his spectacular vocals, the band (especially the drummer and the horns), and the sweet background singers is unmatched on any soul song I've ever heard, and we are talking thousands and thousands of them. If you listen on a powerful home system, you cannot help but be blown away by this..soulful, gut-wrenching vocals by one of the most underrated singers ever. Shot to death in Detroit in 1969, RIP Darrell...

  • @calwaite darrell was one of the greatest in his time, i had the pleasure of plating with him in buffalo, bosten , alanta, when he first started out. on revlot records, his first single open the door to your heart,, the oj,s tryed too sue him saying he stole it from them .. after that he went all out and done real for himself, he is truly missed, oh and otis redding didn,t have nothing on darrell , darrell had them big feet like otis lol...... curley g..

  • @MrBillyj2 Wow, Curley. How nice of you to reply to me. You played with him, in the band? I'm honored to be able to talk with you. One thing I am always telling younger people who don't know shit about soul music is that the musicians who were so fabulous and magnificent and professional are a big part of the reason this music was so moving. Nobody today can play like you guys did, nobody. Darrell's version of "You Better Go" is the baddest love song I've ever heard, by the way. Take care.

  • Right on.

  • this is first class soul

  • Lovely!!!!

  • Mary, thanks for posting this gem... I have been searching everywhere to buy this and cannot find it carried on any stores!!!
