I've seen and compared text videos of both with the right software and was equally impressed with video quality. The part of this video that sells me on the Microsoft cam is the Turn and Tilt feature. That and it doesn't look like a goddamned surf board with a hole in it.

i guess it's quite impossible to test "viewing text" for the logitech if the focus is on the wall beside... lol And the colors of logitech are ok, it correctly expose the scene. The microsoft just got some boost on saturation

Logitech webcams do not drop frame rate below 15 whereas Microsoft goes to 7.5 fps. Choose your poison: bright image but choppy motion OR good motion but darker image!

I bought both cams and LOGITECH is soooo much better! The HD-6000 cannot be attached to most monitors, the cable it comes with is too SHORT (I had to put the monitor next to PC tower, otherwise the cable doesn't reach), the autofocus on is annoying, the overall quality is much worse than the C510...

The logitech is awesome. Stay away from Microsoft products!

I finally got the HD 6000, this video is not kidding, this camera is fantastic, not only is the image quality superb, and the handling of light extremely good, but the design, as shown in this video, the HD 6000 can easily be adjusted in almost any way you want, best of all, in less than 5 minutes I had crisp HD video running on my laptop, this webcam delivers, I don't care it's microsoft, certain things they improve the market, this being one of them.

Nice set of tests, I was especially interested in the low lighting one, as web cams usually require a lot of light to make a decent picture.

I wonder though, why is there no conclusion? it's not like it's a toss up, out of the box the HD-6000 is a clear winner in all tests.

@slapstermonkey So the HD 6000 is plug and play, and you're ready to go, but the Logitech requires you go through settings, yeah then logitech can go screw themselves, sure I can do the settings bit, no problem, but there's a lot of people out there were the things you mention is a nightmare. Clearly which one works best out of the box should be considered in a VS.

Well if you don´t have more knowledge than that by all means buy the MS Cam ..Altough you still have to get new application updates from MS using this new thing called the interwebs.
