  • The world is a sadder place without Zenzile Myriam Makeba . . . . .

  • My phonetics professor suggested that our class listen to this song to hear the "clicks" and familiarize ourselves with them. I really like the song <3

  • @NukeGirl35 Same here hahaha where do you study?

  • @LancelotGraal Hey! I study in a university in Toronto, Canada ^_^

  • @NukeGirl35 Haha! I study in the University of York in the UK! It's so funny how two phonetics professors so far away from each other had the same idea.

I guess it is the best example for clicks that is easily accessible... ^^

  • i do not know this language and my friend khwezi is teaching me it but he still does not know much english can any one tell me a better way to learn xhosa

  • RIP in peace dear lady .

  • i love how she explained the title of the song when she sang it live. "it's called the 'click song' because whites can't say qongqothwane". still makes me smile.

  • great song, especially for those among us who wish to learn this language

    rest in peace miriam

  • And the rest please I have always wanted to know exactly what she was saying. Now I can see it I can say it, Thanks.

  • Amaxoxo ayaxhumaxhuma kuzo inxhaxhazo.....

  • I didn't mean to imply that all "crackers" are by definition from the Southern United States. To me, "Cracker" is a state of mind, not a state of residency in the same way that "trailer trash' don't all live in trailers and not everyone living in a trailer is trash. Though I emphatically oppose their agenda, I will suggest that the likes of smitty and andrew should keep their mouths shut- that would be their most valuable contribution to the proving of their "superiority".

  • No Andrew, you're quite right about that surmise. I for one wouldn't use that offensive word in genteel conversation, but it 's also true that you don't have to be African-American to be one either. You're proof of that fact. Are you familiar with the term "wigger"? Use your imagination, if you have any.

  • This is a 'goosebumps' version of this song. WOW...love it. Her voice had deepened and matured....wonderful!

  • If "white trash" like smitty and andrew who commented below are going to loudly proclaim their racial superiority from the virtual rooftops of these comment pages, I truly with they'd at least go back to the grammar school from which they "graduated" (dropped out) and learn some control over the English language. Why is it that most "crackers" seem to be illiterate as well as racist?

  • i don't understand white supremicists. if they truly were as superior as they like to shout, why would they have to run around telling everyone all the time. i mean, if they truly were superior, wouldn't we all know by looking at them. i just wonder who they are trying to convince. probably themselves. and i am a southern person, and caucasian. not all of us down here are stupid, i hate that whole image of the south. some of us do want peace.

  • Hey Smitty1767,

Grow up dude!!! Miriam is and will always be a legend.

You're an ignorant racist and shouldn't be allowed to post comments anywhere near great music!

  • It's unfortunate that an ignorant racist would choose to show himself here to spread his message of hate. Sing on, Miriam.... he's a sad little minority here. The rest of us love you !!!!

  • To the wretched man called andrew ( see how I write your name in small letters..? That's 'cos you don't deserve any respect...! )

You're nothing but a lowlife scum...!

  • I believe it's about time they increased the dose of your medication, Andrew.

  • miriam.....miss u so my friend.....my sister...my soulmate.u will live forever in my heart.......

  • Oh my god!!!!!

I'm just in love with this song and especially at the END when she talks with the clicks sounds. So soothing, relaxing AND FASINATING.!!!!!!

MAMA AFRICA THE WORLD JUST LOST ONE OF ITS FINEST TREASURES

    YOU RIP MAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ciao

  • Goodbye Miriam...Goodbye...:o)

  • Not sure whether or not Miriam is "singing for the angels," but I doubt it. Death disassembles the phenomenon of the self and separate, distinct consciousness of that peroson ceases to be. Ah, but Miriam lives on singing to us. I hear her her voice now while I write this comment... and lovely it is! Miriam Makeba's spirit lives. Can YOU hear it?

  • yes I can!!!

  • i understand that you might accept what you said as truth but can you PROVE that she isn't singing for whosoever might be near her in the afterlife? No one knows for sure so let people believe what they want! RIP Miriam Makeba and may your music live on forever!!

  • Rest in peace, Miriam - we will miss you sorely. Now you sing for the angels.

  • Lovely!

  • i love it!

  • ooh. Excellent vocals. Makes me acknowledge God. That voice is beautiful

  • Awesome!

  • Unexpectedly beautiful!
