One of the most memorable books I'll ever read, I know that without a doubt. Thank you for chronicling your years together-- beautifully written with a reverence for dog intelligence and for nature. Thank you!
Thank you for the slide show. I just finished reading merle's door and looking at the pictures, aligning them up with the times in the book, my tears are falling again. What a wonderful dog.
Hey Ted, your life with super Merle must have been so much fun! I love your book and can find so much of my reletionship with my old friend friend Denver in it. Thanks for sharing your and Merle's adventures!
I dare anybody who has read the book or had an amazing dog like Merle, to not have tears running down their face at the end of this video. Beautiful life and love. Thanks for sharing.
This is an incredibly insightful book, Ted references so many tidbits of knowledge for the reader. This just isn't "another book about a dog"- no matter how wonderful that in itself is, but this is an encyclopedia of knowledge peeking into the interwoven complexities of the world of canine and human. Our own pups never fail to teach us daily from their wonderful perspective. To truly shrug off the plastic of the daily grind, and really, truly live- every human needs a dog (or better yet, 2).
I've gone through life with dogs for 56 years. Of that, 9 months was spent with my own "Merle" before lymphoma claimed her. I loved them all, but my Ranger will live forever. She danced.
I am Reading Merle's Door now after reading Bloodties. Coupled with the fact that I live with a Coy-Dog named : Ranger I seem to have a connection...Wow how nice is it to Read the words of a Dude in touch with so many things in a World my wife and I thought was lost to GMO food and fat children playing electronic games. It is refreshing to know poeple still think and bond with canines.
I just finished Merle's Door and admire the friendship that you shared with your soulmate. What an amazing being. I had a very close connection to my first dog, Baku. His portrait hangs in my living room...his memory always in my heart. Thank you for sharing so much of who Merle was. I still am brought to tears, especially seeing more of the pics in this slideshow -- and Monsieur, Mayor, Merley -- Ted's Best Friend.
Wonderful music, and Merle's story a wonder to behold. This is one story that will forever remain in my heart. Peace...........gio
