I have a lot of respect for Mr. Bowden, he will always be known as one of the very best of all-time. I wish the staff of Florida State had handled the situation differently than they did.

I remember watching this in a bar with about 100 people. When Bobby planted that spear, you would have swore the damn roof was going to blow off. People were loud, girls were tearing up. Almost makes me wish I was a douchebag fan (yeah, go Gators and all that good stuff) so I couldn't appreciate what I saw. Hard to deny it though, it was a pretty intense moment.
What pisses me off the most is that ESPN did not really do anything for his last game. BUT OHHHH the moment they think Urban Meyer is going to retire they do down his 4 year memory lane. I don't care what he accomplished in those 4 years but it will never compare to the legacy that Bobby have done. After the plane crash Bobby ask NCAA if WVU could play Marshall's final game of the year wearing Marshall jersey's. His request was declined.The 1970 WVU season was his first head coaching position. Little did people know at the time this first time head coach with a kind heart was a legend in the making!
He was also given an offer for Alabama in the 1988 season i believe. He wanted to wait after the bowl game but Alabama wanted him before the bowl game. Bowden Declined and wasn't leaving his team until after the game. Bama moved on. And he stayed at FSU. Bowden did the right thing there. Never leave your team during the season to another team, (Cincinnati. Cough.)

Thanks to whoever posted this video. I was at the game and I've never been prouder to be a Seminole. As for the debate about Chief Osceola and Renegade, the Seminole Tribe of Florida is completely supportive of the use of these symbols (please do not use the term mascot to describe a human being). The game was great, the boys played their hearts out and Coach Bowden was properly treated - at least by the Bowl officials and the fans. He deserved all the respect he got - and more!

As much as he owned NU over the years, this Husker can't help but respect Coach Bowden. A true legend of the sport and he will be missed. Once Joe P hangs em up it will truly be the end of an era of excellence.

Thanks to whoever posted this video. I was at the game and I've never been prouder to be a Seminole. As for the debate about Chief Osceola and Renegade, the Seminole Tribe of Florida is completely supportive of the use of these symbols (please do not use the term mascot to describe a human being). The game was great, the boys played their hearts out and Coach Bowden was properly treated - at least by the Bowl officials and the fans. He deserved all the respect he got - and more!

Chief Osceola is an authentic Native American. One of the problems Native Americans had with them being school mascots was that the person dressed as the mascot was not an authentic Native American.

The time has come for Florida State University to follow in the footsteps of the University of Illinois and ditch its horrid Native American mascot. There is nothing more distasteful than white college students mocking the culture of the Native Americans of the United States.

Um.... NO..... the seminole tribe in florida has announced on multiple occasions that they are fine with Florida State using their tribe as a mascot. They say it furthers the warrior spirit which defined the seminole tribe. If it was something generic and blatantly racist like "the redskins" I might've agreed with you.
But its definitely not time for FSU to drop the name-

Even though FSU was 6-6 and WVU was 9-3, I knew deep down in my heart that those kids for FSU WERE NOT going to let Bobby Bowden go out a loser. FSU gave 130% in this game and it got them the win. Doesn't matter if love or hate FSU: Bobby Bowden rebuilt the FSU program from scratch and this is how the FSU administration & Alumni treats him. It's a goddamn disgrace! It was Bowden (and later on Howard Schnellenberger over at Miami) that made college football in the state of Florida what it is today!

The man not only rebuilt the FSU program, he was the first coach to keep the good Florida high school players in Florida & prevented them from going to the big out-of-state schools like Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Ohio State & Penn State to name a few. So a USF fan is talking trash about FSU? I actually like USF because I was born in Tampa but when I got into football USF didn't exist. Congrats on beating us but if winning against a 7-6 team is USF's biggest win EVER!! What does that say about FSU? We set such a high standard that even at 7-6 losing to mediocre teams is a shock. USF? You beat a 7-6 team and you think you belong with the big dogs in Florida. win some National titles or hell maybe the Big East and then talk.
