Clinton was essentially saying we can have it both ways -- free and fair. I wish I could believe that. I think free and fair will always be in tension, though; and that those who benefit from the free part should compensate those who get screwed by the lack-of-fairness part.
I am afraid that Perot was the last true, honest, potential president that understands economics and doesn't sell his soul to make it rich. He already is by doing it honestly.
@ThunderAppeal Sorry, I'm really trying to understand what you're getting at. How is Lincoln's quote relevant, other than as an attempt at Trolling, and how exactly does saying that people should learn about who they're voting for lead to being too lazy to stay engaged? I would argue the opposite: those who don't care to learn about who they're voting for and instead vote for whoever their affiliated party endorses are too lazy to stay engaged throughout the process.
@Htown75 I was only 8 at the time, and I regret it! But you know what, these idiot Americans are now seeing the consequences of not voting for Perot! Good luck with that Chinese debt!
Perot stated "when our wages go down to six dollars an hour and there's go up to six that's when the jobs will stop leaving. Half way there Ross; manufacturing a BMW in South Carolina now pays a worker $15/hr without healthcare or other benefits. WAY TO GO REPUBLICRATS!!!! And they've still managed to borrow and spend the debt over $13 trillion. Amazing and so predictable.. can we all PLEASE stop voting for Republicans and Democrats. Votes for Republicrats are wasted votes!!!!
the American people were dumb then and they are even dumber now. Nothing has changed. Americans don't want the truth, they like being lied to so they can stay in their dream world. Unfortunately, that dream world is about to get smashed down their throats. Lets see how they deal with it.
@thequietkid10 Look, I understand youre retarded and in America everyone has a voice. But at some point your stupidity becomes infectious, reading your commentary has a dumbing down effect. You would make a great broadcaster or a advertising agent though. Critical thinking is not your forte.
Free trade doesn't work when it's done with poorer countries, like India and China. Their workers make less than 1/10 of you average American worker, which is why all companies are outsourcing to India and China, and NOT the US.
@Norlimon Free trade will in fact work with poorer countries, when they are *legitimately* poorer. China is *not* a poorer nation. China has been manipulating its currency for years now. Just about every other nation on earh subsidizes its native auto industry. Yes, that includes germany and japan. The United States is practically the only nation on earth that didnt subsidize its auto industry. If our so-called 'leaders actually negotiated for a fairer trade rather than bending over
First, there's no such thing as "free" when it comes to the nature of man.
If you have free trade, you drain a country's employement, agriculture, finances, industry, and basically the entire life force of what gives a country whether the US or anywhere else, any sort of pull in the world.
Then the country goes bankrupt, the IMF swoops in and bails them out, and things get *FAR WORSE*
I thought people would've caught on by now... Bodies in the streets from starvation will be proof enough.
Ross Perot wanted to bring the made in America brand back. He advocated a fairer trading policy and getting rid of the debt. Personally I feel we should go to an 18% national sales tax with a fairer trade system and a balanced budget. That will fix our problems plain and simple.
You fail to realize I want to abolish the income tax and every other tax and replace it with an 18% national sales tax. Also you get a rebate every month if your an American citizen on food, drugs, education, water, and energy.
Man! LOL... I can't believe how wrong Ross Perot was! There was no giant sucking sound of jobs heading south. It was a medium sucking sound heading south... The GIANT sucking sound actually headed toward China. =/
He's a double talking sniveling whiny piece of shit whose bought and owned by foreign interests. The fact that you cant see that and that you even have 'nothing but respect for him' is a demonstration of what kind of a complete shiftless stupid hill billy you are. He talks about non-intervention but then turns around and blames all of the middle east problems on Israel. He thinks that the civil war never should have been fought, he claims that neo-cons are inherently socialist.
@ThunderAppeal - Actually, Perot was right about the civil war. It didn't need to be fought. If the federal government had paid slave owners for their slaves, then set them free, there would have been no war.
Instead, America paid with hundreds of thousands of lives.
I don't sit around for hours reading other people's back and forth comments ad infinitum, so if I erred in believing you were talking about THIS fucking video, deal with it.
Ross Perot was right on. This country is going down I am afraid. Pay attention the looks on the faces of Bush and Clinton, they were very threatened by Perot and it is obvious that the people behind them forced Perot out. Hey Bushy,, how bout those exports nowadays ya traitor,, Same goes for split tongue Clinton, the whole thing with these assholes (Bush, Clinton, Bush, Hillary, Obama), its all a scam and a lie and the people are finally figuring it out, Former Repub here, new found INDEPENDENT
@ThunderAppeal It would be the same, except for the fact that people would have to know who they were voting for. I guarantee the majority of voters have no idea who they are voting for, they vote depending on what party they belong to. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams all stood for that. Can you find me anything about parties in the constitution? I say NO MORE GANGS in governmen! Running for office shouldn't be to make money, it should be because you want to do what is right.
@ThunderAppeal I may have made my last statement a little misleading. I meant to say that Washington, Jefferson, and Adams all stood for that, as in; they all stood for not having political parties.
Very interesting to watch this again. Perot said he would run if the people would add him to the ballot in all states. They did - I liked what he said - things went well. Then near the end he pulled out citing some odd assassination theory against his family. He was a fringe candidate and pulled the votes away from Bush. But Perot's views on the economy were interesting to hear again.
He sounded interesting because despite Perots eccentric billionare behaviour he was still a pragmatist. Hence what he had to say resonated with the majority of Americans because, I like to think, that the majority of Americans are pragmatic.
Bush 2 was only governor for 1 term and spent most of his life in business. Ron Paul was a medical doctor for most of his life. The only lifetime ones are Dole, Clinton and Bush 1.
Perot's problem was that he didn't connect that well. That was the most off putting thing about him. Even people who interviewed him had a hard time. Would have voted for him if I could have. He was the last presidential candidate worth voting for in my opinion.
