  • is it just me or does wrestling and judo compliment each other well? I've just met so many wrestling guys at grappling tournaments that cross train in judo as well and vice versa. I just do judo but my dad was a college wrestler, and i just think they are both so similar with top control and their bases are second to none.

  • @whatsflawless I agree they work very well together. You can add some BJJ and become a grappling monster.

  • @whatsflawless they are great together. Wrestling for top positioning and control, and judo for throws! And do BJJ for the guard and submissions. You'll be about 2/3 ready for the UFC.

  • coshiguruma, honkezagatame

  • Good display of no gi judo dude!

  • I just came onto this video to see some Judo techniques and everyone is arguing about racial issues. WTF? O__O

  • Dude, YOU'RE the one arguing that historians "proved" that Chinese were the first wrestlers in some ass-pulled year. "White America" isn't pushing a race-based pseudo "history" here but YOU are. You do have a sound point that wrestling is a universal human timeless thing...So, therefore, to be logical...drop your contradictory "China 2697" defense and embrace truth instead. Don't be like the "white america" you don't get, except you choose to swap in "China" for "Greece."

  • Americans don't care about Greeks nor Chinese, btw. There were tribesmen IN AMERICA wrestling from time to time before the Greeks or Chinese wrote a word about it. But that doesn't make wrestling "American" either. And it wasn't Africans either...missing link types wrestled over stuff just like gorillas and whatnot do to this day...long before there were humans in Africa or anywhere else. Now if you want history of specific SPORTS of wrestling...that's different and can be somewhat tracked.

  • @Brandontrann Everyone has a game plan until you get a whap to the yap and a shot to the snot and this cutey is coming apart. Seeing Elvis in the Supermarket, leaning like the tower of Pizza.

  • @Brandontrann "Chinese were first..". How the sweet flying Samcow do you know that?

  • @swassontelus

I remember learning in world history class that first people (groups of them..) started to explore out of Africa to the Middle East to Asia then to the Europe.

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE Likely. I was goofing on the fact, the guy quoted 2697 BC. Peace

  • @swassontelus

Lol. But that's how close historians got, at least the guy had some kind of "exact" point rather than saying "long time ago" when we can't prove that..

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE Historians are Artsies. Scientists are more precise. Star Wars also starts out with "A long time ago..." :-)

  • @swassontelus

Science can also be an art but it doesn't matter.

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE Now that I read this sober, jeeze, time to take away from keyboard. :-)

  • @swassontelus

    Haha.

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE Lol. You have no idea what "historians" think of 2697 bc. You're too busy ready youtube comments! But its a joke to pretend Chinese wrestled first in 2697bc as that is a nonsense claim. Besides, the point is you can't ever talk about martial arts without some art/race focused peanut gallery trying to pretend some arbitrary dudes should get more credit than others. Chinese were first! Judo! Wrestling! Bruce Lee!

  • @redbulldog

I'm just saying what i learn from school.

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE That's actually pretty cool that school taught you about Chinese martial arts! But my point is this: if Chinese were rasslin in 2697bc...they were also rasslin in 2968bc. And so were some dudes in europe and africa and everywhere else. It isn't logical for "wrestling" to be invented some arbitary year by some group of people that kept bettter notes. Freaking toddlers do it. Animals do it. Chimps were doing it before we evolved. It's like running or swimming. Nobody gets credit.

  • @redbulldog

No! That's not what i meant.. Wrestling is a HUMAN universal thing.

The thing is who did wrestling first as of "people" to be recorded (probably the one of the longest?) would be Chinese..

And as of countries like USA to wrestling referring it as the Ancient Greeks is probably cause the majority are white. I mean like what predominated white countries are gonna say the "Africans" did wrestling first and going to refer to it every time it comes down to history? You know what i mean?

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE But, even if true (Chinese "recorded" some rasslin from 2697) all you're measuring is who kept track of records. That's like pretending Chinese hunted or fished first, if the earliest writings covering hunting or fishing we find are Chinese. That make no sense. Everybody was hunting and gathering everywhere, no matter who wrote it down best. Anyways, nobody thinks "Africans" did anthing first except, maybe, evolve. But long before that...our species was still wrestling.

  • @redbulldog

But like what i typed earlier, as "people" aka homo sapiens.

And why do we continue to refer Wrestling as Ancient Greece?

In china, i don't hear them saying Greece did it first or whatever.. So why is it USA and Europe continue to say Ancient Greece? Because they are predominately white, and will go with white race history..?

    I still don't get it. -_-

  • @Brandontrann Right. And before that Gilgamesh wrestled Enkidu so the mesopotamians were first. Except for those neaderthols wrestling other monkeys at the beginning of 2001 who were really first. Until the obilisk made them discover bones and spaceships.

  • The title of this video is like saying butterflies turn into caterpillars. It is just wrong. Learn your history.

  • @Negativions ... what?

  • @choochoogoesit Chronology. Read the title. Read my last comment. Examine your life. Take some drugs. Make a right of passage. Let the wisdom reveal itself to you.

  • @Negativions So... the video being from '07 - '08 is somehow wrong?

    What?

  • @choochoogoesit Judo throws are to butterflies as wrestling throws are to caterpillars.

  • @Negativions You're saying that they were already Wrestling throws?

If not then I believe I've smoked too much weed, or I am just fucking dense.

  • @choochoogoesit You got it.

  • @Negativions Great, I don't feel so bad about smoking this bowl. Maybe I'll sprinkle in some meth this time.

  • @choochoogoesit Right, wish I could get fucked up, but it is too risky at the moment.

  • @Negativions Hahaha, I like how this is on some kids' Youtube. DRUGS ARE COOL MAN, YEAAAAAAAHHHHH.

  • @Negativions to be fair its semantics, like when people say about joint locks "oh this is a judo move, not its a jj move" or talk about jj vs bjj... its just words. technique is technique no matter what its called. wrestling is really any grappling. there are joint locks, pins and throws in folk just as there are in judo, jj or a number of other grappling styles.

  • @eyesea Well said. These techniques go back before recorded history in many cases. There's no sense to attributing them to one art or another. They are independent of art and part of human history itself.

  • @Negativions that doesnt make to much sense buddy. and ive never seen somebody hit a judo throw on a greco roman wrestler.

  • @tearo yeah wrestling is a way way rougher sport for sure after a judo practice I am all but a fraction of the amount of sore in comparison to a wrestling practice.

  • @ProudPYROChild what are you basing this off of? There is just as many techniques in wrestling then there is in judo. In fact perhaps more because in judo you cant attack the legs but in wrestling you can and you can also do many upper body throws and tons of ground moves as well. I wouldn't judo lacks speed or endurance in comparison to wrestling but I would say it takes more strength in wrestling then judo simply because it takes more energy to lift someone then to throw them,

  • @SWCWrestler As my wrestling coach told me. Judo goes soft, soft, soft then BOOM! While wrestling goes BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

I practiced both. I only do wrestling now because of time restraints and all.

  • The last one looked like a normal over under wrestling throw.

Its hard to say who would win judo or wrestling. I wrestled many years and did really well and did the switch to judo and am doing just as good so I would say it has more to do with the person not the style they fight.

On second hand I always felt wrestling was a deeper sport seeing as its been around since greek times where as judo's only been around since the 1800's

  • @SWCWrestler but judo is harder because you have to have more technique and wrestling is just speed and endurance

  • an all around wrestler (freestyle/folkstyle/greco roman) dominates any judo takedown wise and once you add submissions and striking your deadly just look at mma and tell me how many champions have a judo backround? then look at wrestling end of story right there

  • @spike09500 That's because you wear a gi in Judo, so it's obviously more applicable to no-gi fighting

  • @spike09500 That's because you wear a gi in Judo, so wrestling is obviously more applicable to no-gi fighting

  • @spike09500 That's because in the states there are about a hundred wrestlers for every Judoka and kimonos are not used anymore. Look at the matches before. Most if not all wrestlers ended up choked up (Frank Trig is a good example). On the rare occasion that a top wrestler won over a top jodoka, it usually is due to stand up, not to take downs nor submissions. Anyway why not mix it up. Jon Jones uses JUDO TECHNIQUES. Grappling is grappling.

  • @henryposadas i saw the frank trigg video and he went in with no sub defense and jon jones was a greco roman wrestler he uses greco roman techniques now i could be wrong cause im not very familiar judo but his backround is wrestling i just think that if you give a wrestler sub defense and a decent ground game then he could beat a judoka on the ground your could differ but just sayin

  • what high school is the green guy in the beginning from

  • IPPON! Judo is better, way more comprehensive.

  • Ehh not the greatest form but it worked

  • I'm in judo and wrestling. But when I'm in wrestling I do judo moves to cause the person I'm with doesn't know what I'm going to do and I end up winning.

  • ahhh shit that was out

  • ahahaha peter griffin

  • wrestling is one of the greatest takedown style and sambo (ruissian Wrestling) one of the greatest submission wrestling

  • judo kids are fucking retarded if they go up against someone who knows theres shit no judo kid is gonna toss a wrestler

  • @AnonymousFatality1 hey shit for brains you take the best wrestler in the world and the top judo master in the world that wrestler will be beging for mercy when the judo drops him on his head

  • @mmadeathmachine no hip toss is gonna work up against even a decent wrestler... not downing judo cuz its a great martial art to add to your arsenal but it wont work in a westing match against a good kid. like this kid in the video probably didnt get to far in his wrestling career

  • @AnonymousFatality1 not all of judo is hid throws tho there sweeps regualr wrestleing style takedowns also

  • @mmadeathmachine jodo has some crazy submissions and sweeps from bottom ill give you that (from an mma and submission wrestling point of veiw) but personally i dont think its got much on wrestling when it comes to takedowns

  • @AnonymousFatality1 what i meant by sweeps was getting in close and sweeping front legs wich if done crectly almost always lead to a take down

  • @AnonymousFatality1 oh yeah huh well it looks like most judoka kick the shit out of wrestlers in a real fight cuz im going to drive my elbows into ur back when u shoot shots. and then i am going to punch u in the back of the head and throw and ou ouchi gari and ur going to land on ur head bitch.

  • @ERIKDAVIKING44 oh look at mr bad ass over here trying to talk shit over youtube gotta have big balls to do that. give you lots of props bro.

  • @mariscaljosh u are so ignorant wrestling is like 20 times as old as judo

  • they look like hip tosses to me xP

  • what fuckin judo throws??!!! theese throws are from wrestling! wrestling was before judo u know ! mooron !

  • @Restlerrr you must be retard to tihnk that , did you know that since the 1890's when judo developed it influenced alot in the wrestling techniques and judo comes fromt he battlefied art of the samurai so its alot older than wrestling

  • @mariscaljosh

Whose retarded? Wrestling has been known to been used by the Greeks and Homer even told of it in his writings. That's over 3000 years ago, I'm sure there were people wrestling long before the Greeks.

  • @AmericanFenian I agree with AmericanFenian, Wrestling belongs to Antic Olympics and it is one of the most oldest activities in the whole world ! And I don´t think I´m very retarded?

  • @mariscaljosh its okay, its okay. both you and eddyspaghetti2 are equally retarded. :)

  • @mariscaljosh wrestlings been around since the 13th or 12th century BC its one oh the oldest forms of combat. dont believe me... look it up for yourself

  • DUDE i so called the uchi withouteven reading the describtion!

  • does it really matter if you say the names of the throws in comment? enjoy the video damnit

  • "AHHH SHEEEIT! THAT WAS OUT" lol

  • nice, hip throws!

  • No it was more uchi matuchi tatoshi with a booka bakka

  • BTW....great moves. Wish my son would have stayed in wresting and judo. Said it was boring...did the same stuff over and over...LOL Kids.

  • @Dismae Have him do kick boxing. ahaha judo and wrestling is not boring, there is a lot to learn from competition and opponents. Great form of self defense if someone gives you problem. Kick boxing rocks if it's one on one or more. Judo is more like one on one only.

  • Many of the judo throws work just as well with or without gi and would be great for wrestling. Unfortunately, many competitive Judoka don't train both ways. First throw is not o-goshi since the uke's feet don't go over, he rolls off the hip and down making it closer to uki otoshi or koshi guruma down into a good kesa gatame if he would have kept his weight down on him. Second throw was an ippon seoi nage/uchi mata variant.

  • i only do wrestling and half of what you wrote looks like giberish to me lol

  • u only " do " wrestling lol its u wrestle dumbass and ya nice headlock, favorite move

  • Very nice

  • Great throws.

  • first one is a Ogoshi and the second is uchi mata

  • um i'm pretty sure the first throw is yoshi and the second is hands down mario

  • It isnt any of those moves theres no sweeping leg something like seoi nage :S

  • its more like uchi mata than harai goshi

  • The 2nd throw looks more like Harai Goshi than it does Uchi mata...

  • The first one is koshi guruma ;)

  • modified ogoshi from the over-under position; my favorite throw.

  • careful with hip throws. They can just roll you over if you mess up a bit.

  • judo rareley works in wrestling why? well judo mainly cosists of grabbing the robe and a singlet prevents that and btw the second one even if it was in bounds other guy most likley woulve gotten the takedown because he had absolutley no control and all the guy had to to was get around behind so 9 out of 10 times judo wont work and im guessing these guys are in jr high well of course the headthrow is gonna work when hes in high school and he wrestles he will be on his back

  • actually you'll find that some of the more common judo throws do not require a gi. the best ones are just pure leverage, with grips to supplement

  • however training in no gi judo, makes your wrestling better

    i know :)

  • What do ya know, wrestling and judo have similar techniques, no way! :O

  • looks more like a hiptoss.. unless judo called that first?

  • ogoshi (the first one) translates to "big hip throw" and I think that's the literal translation

  • ahh shit that was out...he sounds like peter griffin

  • @ianedwards19

    lololololl

  • good job john but why did you get dad saying sh** lol that was funny i showed him

  • ah shit, that was out

  • I've used those before, and ppl say judo won't work in wrestling, haha, good going

  • that o goshi was priceless, u are a credit to the art of judo. :) haha lets see if my tai otoshi can fare as well this year.

  • For the future it's spelt Uchi MATA :D oh btw, I like the "There you go! Oh shit that was out!" comment :P

  • FEET OVER HEAD OMG!!!
