aikido does work in real life situation, but its a more acquired style to defend yourself. you have to use precise timing and movemt to get the opponent off balance and alot of the moves are subtle thus you dont see it. the reason they arent attackin at once is because they dont want to injure their partner or get in his way if he is attacking. having hands up is called tegetana or handsword its a fundumental technique, and you dont resist. if you do you will get broken bones; its dangerous
@21526001270528 Are you saying Aikido couldn't make improvements? There is a Japanese guy on YT who does more live sparring as well as cross-style engagements. There are Aikidoka out there who attempt moves from the greco-roman over-under clinch with MMA guys. The style has room for improvements, imo, and is only improved more by doubts and new ideas.
@TheTerrorUforgot hey i agree with that. this style does have room for improvements especially when laying on the mat, i take no offense to that. its when ppl say its completely useless and should never be used that i get offended.
@TheTerrorUforgot im a judoka too, but i disagree with you. In judo, there is both offense and defense at the same time, in this randori, the attackers attack and don't defend, and the tori never attacks. Randori is a japanese word for free practice. practicing, freely. every martial art has a way of sparring. Have you seen a tai chi sparring session? how about a capoeira randori? judo, the objective is to throw, pin and submit. In BJJ, its the same thing.
@capoeira204 Randori always meant sparring to me. This is just a drill. The same as all of their demos. Judo and BJJ do actual sparring. Aikido do this ultra-compliant routine and consider themselves able to defend themselves.
@dcm7171 actually jujutsu was the martial art of the samurai, from that came judo and aikijujutsu, and from aikijujutsu came aikido. Aikido wasn't crystalised in the form we know it as now until 1942. O Sensei Ueshiba founded aikido, so how could it be the chosen art of samurai? The samurai used jujutsu, bojutsu, kenjutsu and so on.
Actually the technique is quite poor and static. Too much movement and almost always out of center. Lack of imagination, limited to just a couple of throws. The uke's are taking it VERY easy on him probably not to embaras the guy. Not lousy but mediocre at best. Good try though, MAY improve with practice.
even if you don't like aikido you have to admit this is, if nothing else, an intense workout. i've seen some negative comments about aikido. this clip shows that it's not something for the "weekend warrior." the guy is in good shape! i'm glad people think aiki is fake. the less people walking around with this kind of know how the better!
I agree. Good video. Good workout. This guy has good technique, good zanshin, zeshin, mushin, bushin, and all the other shins. As far as your statement " ...the less people walking around with this kind of know how the better!... " I cannot agree more.
randori does mean "chaos taking" ... it's not strictly like judo randori where it's one on one... you can use multiple people to practice your technique in any way you want

i'm sorry but i think that aikido doesn't work in a real situation i can prove XD
pedromandello 3 months ago
@pedromandello None and all martial arts work in "a real situation"...
It's not about the art itself, it's about the user and how he uses it.
Aikido allows you to learn about physics, motions and rhythm.
As for myself, i use my knowledge of martial arts to avoid conflicts, not to prove myself to anyone, but that's a personal choice.

although he looks very talented, this isn't true randori. all these partners are compliant.
johnob 5 years ago
In Aikido better be compliant just to avoid getting broken bones
throttlelever 4 years ago 14
@throttlelever In Judo it is important to spar with resistance to learn to fight.
