  • i think it might have been cuz of it just had aten something but who knows maybe im wrong

  • 12 gauge with #4 pellets. I would blast that thing so fast.

  • gimmie my damn revolver

  • does it blend?

  • You don't think Al the Viperkeeper would love to have that sucker in his collection?

    What a specimen!!

  • thats a big ol Rattle snake lol

  • Great snake photograhhy the best i've seen in awhile..good job

  • @biggin1958 thank you!

  • a snake is like a dog, when he rattles his tail he wants you to pet him :)

  • As i understand it the danger of young rattlers is that they do not know how to control their vaeom where as larger ratlers will strike and often not release any venom using the strike just as a tactic to scare a larger predator away. I have seen lots of juvie rattler strikes and i will admit that compared to a larger rattler they do spray quite a lot more than you would think.

  • @RHO1953, The small rattle snakes are more dangoures then the big ones because the little ones can't control the release of venom, but that is a beautiful snake,

  • @sammy40191 You know ive heard that a million of times but ive never seen any documented proof of it. And the lethality is all based on how much venom is pumped in. considering a juvie EDB is around 12 inches and an adult is easily over 8ft, it would be safe to say an adult could dump more venom in one bite than a juvie has all together and still have enough venom to comfortably continue its day.

  • Yeah, whatever. Mostly they keep to themselves, but that isn't universal. At the very least that snake should be taken to a remote area. It is so big that a bite would almost certainly result in an amputation or death.

  • What a magnificent snake! I watched one cross my path back in the 70s while I was out in a horse pasture in Florida. It was starting to see one so huge! Now, I live in Western North Carolina on, you guessed it... Rattlesnake Mountain. And yes, they are up here and keep to themselves. We have a wonderfully healthy ecosystem here and all the wild things are healthy, including the snakes. Thanks for sharing.

  • This is one of my favorite rattlesnake clips because it shows how harmless these snakes are when they're not being messed with.

  • tastes like chicken

  • No shortage of rats in the area, I'd guess. Fatty is right!

  • Now,that's what I call a fattie!

  • holy shiz. snakes are crazy!

  • beautiful snake

  • Thank God you encountered it before it encountered YOU!

  • Very cool - I would never kill any snake unless it became absolutely necessary, snakes are beautiful creatures well deserving to live a natural and healthy life. The largest rattlesnake I've ever come across measured 15 feet - I swear this is completely true, my sister saw an ever larger rattlesnake in the same vicinity that supposedly measured 25 feet in length, the creature spanned the entire distance of a typical country roadway from one side of the road all of the way to the other side +.

  • I counted 14 rattles, I was lucky enough to see one this size or maybe a little larger back in 1973 in the Otay river bottom. Life is good!

  • Magnificent beast, nice video. THNKS ))

  • I love killin rattle snakes...i would of killed that bastard..

  • @Stephenz4x4 Well if you kill it and it isn't around to eat the rodents anymore guess what happens, the rodents start multiplying and destroying crops and carring diseases that spread to humans. These snakes are in our ecosystem for a reason.

  • They remove them from Navy housing on a daily basis in San Diego. You are one of those fruitcakes, aren't you? You would rather a kid die than a rattlesnake. Nuts.

  • @RHO1953 You should teach the children how to look where they are going. I know "kids will be kids" but I grew up around these animals in the wild playing in the woods. If your kids aren't smart enough to respect the animals natural habitat and be careful of where they are stepping, then maybe we are just weeding out the week genes that shouldn't be on this planet propigating to begin with.

  • Yes, rattlesnakes are def. around Mt. Tamalpais in Marin Co.. They tend to like the sagebrush areas, and in summer you would find them there or in the shade. So...keep your eyes open and NEVER reach into a crevice or behind a log during May through October. N. Pacifics do not always rattle; they are rather passive like that, but you do not want to get hit with a defensive strike by one of them.

  • Jeez, don't get your panties twisted into a knot. The term "monster" was a reference to its size. No, it can easily bite if you just wander too close accidentally. I know a bit about this topic. That snake isn't your average ankle biter. He could get you much higher on your leg and you would probably lose the leg and maybe die.

  • Hmm. Just imagine some kid runs across it and gets bit. Would it be quite as beautiful to you then? That snake is a monster. A bite could very well be fatal.

  • @RHO1953 The snake is not a monster. It is a creature that wants to live in peace. it only bites for food or when its provoked.

  • maybe u should watch where your kid walks and make sure they dont invade THIS SNAKES natrual "HABITTAT" retard

  • Great vid, it's nice to see someone filming the snake in it's natural environment. Rather than those retards who feel the need to shoot it.

  • awesome vid!

  • Wow, what a beast!

  • Stumbling upon this thing would fix the worst case of constipation that anyone could have!

  • thx for scaring me as i go this weekend

  • I counted 11 rattles and a button. My dad killed a black rattler once that had 16 rattles and a button. These are some very nasty dudes, the one in this vid seemed complacent, but that can change instantly. A bite from this guy could very will kill a full grown adult.

  • Wow, no rattling; he's just cruising down the road all cool and calm-- "today was a good day" lol

  • Have you ever heard of antivenom? Plus rattlers only release venom in 1 in 5 bites, and they often just threaten. So, if you wanna kill it for a child's safety, NEVER LEAVE TEXAS!

  • Why would you not kill that damn thing? It's freakin huge! If it bites a child out on that trail the child would surely die.

  • Whoo, he is a fatty. Very well fed. And ancient by rattlesnake standards. He's had an easy life.

  • Thats A Big un

  • beautiful snake, thank you for respecting it and not killing it.

  • @misfit58 That is not an accurate way to determine the age of a rattlesnake. Rattles fall of from wear and tear, and every time the snake sheds a new rattle is added. They shed several times per year.

  • 1 rattle for every year old I counted 12

  • @misfitt58 A button is added to the rattle after every shed, not every year. And while this one's rattle appears to be in pristine condition, the average snake rattle may be damaged or broken, making it nigh unto impossible to accurately judge the snake's age. But yes, this big boy is probably quite old for a rattler.

  • Good eating But makes Fart,,,,lol

  • You did good, didn't screw with her just video.Good man wish more people were like you.

  • dam.. 12 rattles BIG dude

  • @misfitt58 Check out the massive poison glands on it.

  • DINNER

  • What breed of Rattler is that ???????

  • @piecapetey Northern Pacific rattlesnake

  • @mattslev I thought only Eastern Diamondbacks could come close to that size.

  • venom not poison.... when will people get it right

  • I've run up on some big ones but that one looks bigger than those I saw and dispatched--he'd make your day very miserable even if he didn't kill you

  • that would end your life in a hurry

  • dat thing come by my house, i kill it!

  • GOOD JOB RYAN

  • F*** that! lol, i am terrified of snakes, even small non-poisonous ones! I would have turned tail and ran my a** off in the opposite direction!

  • @m1shadow my thoughts exactly!

  • @m1shadow There's no need to run or to be scared. Snakes are highly misunderstood, and generally don't want to mess with anything bigger than it is, they don't attack and are beautiful, graceful, intelligent animals. Killing snakes that are not threatening to a person is a sign of weakness and/or lack of intelligence. To see a rattler non-coiled like here is a mezmerizing experience! Thanks for filming & posting this awesome video of such a wonderful animal. Oh, it's "venomous," NOT "poisonous."

  • @ProChoiceJesus I still don't like them, thats me. It doesnt mean i kill them, because i would prefer just avoid them.

  • I counted 14 links to the rattle. That is one of the oldest I have ever seen. That is a beautiful snake. Here in Az they are everywhere but 9 is the oldest I've seen before.

  • @oxman0313 Actually, I am pretty sure that counting rattle links is a myth for determining age. While it is true that they gain a new rattle link after each shed, they are also capable of losing rattle links.

  • Ok I would have passed out at the sight of that thing....HUGE and scary looking.

  • Good eating right there. Go try to pick it up.

  • @partyinmysocks 2 feet are you serious, i am pretty sure that snake is bigger than 2 feet

  • That's a beautiful rattler

  • Make a nice belt.

  • fuk me how big do these things get

  • That thing has to be at least 2 foot long and as big around as my fore arm. And I have decent sized fore arms

  • Sorry, but all that clicking I was hoping you were getting the shot gun ready!!snakes are pitiful creatures, they have to go long periods without eating until their next meal. Then if someone got bit they would be hated even more..so do your part and help wipe out a snake today. this is a public service message from the "we hate snakes foundation".

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful video, an awesome rattler too and once in a life time to witness such a beautiful living creature. Congratulations Mate and Excellent Recording too.

  • WHERE THE HELL IS MY SHOTGUN

  • put that snake on a diet or something

  • Thank you for allowing it to go on it's way...Impressive NorPac for sure...I miss those critters.

  • Good video there! You are right, that critter is huge!

  • fuck u guy that thing would be dead

  • LOL...ignorance is so common.

  • Nice footage.

  • beautifull. finally a video where someone enjoys the animal more alive than dead

  • @shawnluzier actually, im not a huge fan of snakes... well i'm mostly just afraid of getting bit by a poisonous snake... if they weren't poisonous, i wouldn't be as scared...

  • @ryanerb

Rattlers are usually venomous. :) I love snakes, but if I find a rattler in a populated area, I have to balance the scales of loving animals vs someone getting bit. I'll have to kill the guy if I can't relocate him to an unpopulated area. Hate to do it, but it is me vs. him in that specific situation. Unless I can call animal control in time before he bites someone :)

  • @UTLonghornPistol - rattlers are always venomous

  • @ryanerb better dead if they come across me, thats how we do it down east...

  • @ryanerb its venamous fucktard

  • @ryanerb Well then you shouldn't be scared because they aren't poisonous. They are venomous. A poison is usually ingested, inhaled or absorbed through the skin while a venom is injected. Some snakes may be venomous but they are not poisonous. Just a quick point of clarification.

  • @Soulrider2012 Thanks for the clarification. Either way, I dont want poison or venom in my body. I've seen some bad results of rattlesnake bites, and they aren't pretty. I know that often they may not release venom, you just never know.

  • @Soulrider2012 Thank you. It seems no matter how many times people are told that it never sinks in. And it annoys the hell out of me when people say "poisonous" snake especially when that person claims to be an expert. "Billy the Exterminator" for example. Thats just one of my problems with that guy.

  • @shawnluzier You say that until you get bit by one or have someone in your family get bit by one then you will hate them.

  • @shawnluzier and you would cry if your dog got bit by one then you would kill them

  • @shawnluzier Yeah to bad, they let it live and it killed one of the next hikers that came through.

  • Is this a Pacific Rattler?

  • blow your damn nose and take some benadryl

  • @angelsgurl sorry, it was slightly cold out and i had been hiking, and was trying to 'film' this snake in the moment. this is raw uncut amateur footage, it's not some 'planet earth' high quality video. sorry for the 'sound effects'

  • @ryanerb lol...you don't have to apologize to me. just tell me to fuck off.

    :P

  • @ryanerb Don't worry about the stupid snob commenting on your video. Thanks for the video. Looks like the snake had eaten something recently, or perhaps it's just fatter in the belly?

  • @angelsgurl get over it, bytch.

  • That aint nothin. In alabama it is some twice that size.

  • Those big ones can deliver alot of poison. The most deadly are the Mojave Greens.

  • @clarkewi ...the most potent venomous snake in North America is the Eastern Diamondback

  • I saw an 8ft. rattle snake on the Jimmy Fallon show one night. Venous snakes, crocodiles, big predatory cats, and hornets, are forces of nature I have a deep respect for. Yeah, I stay as far away from any of those if at all possible.

  • Mt.Diablo has lots of rattlers, what species of rattler is this?

  • That is actually in the East Bay Area. Very nice rattlesnake there! That's about as big as they get, I think. Five footers are very rare. Although, must say, I have seen one about that big one night hunting outside of Santa Rosa, CA. Just nonchalently crossed the path in front of me. Luckily I had my flashlight and saw it/did not step on it.

  • @lvasable Do you know if there are rattlers on Mt. Tamalpais?

  • why didnt you wrestle it?

  • Ive seen rattlers this size and maybe bigger in the Palo Alto Foothills at the Arastradero preserve, there they have a pecular green tinge to them, ive seen them in the dry creek beds in the summer under the rocks.

  • nice video, that is nice to know. I have worked in San Ramon and this is a place where you would see rattlesnacks, but man, very interesting

good you didnt kill it, the snake is part of nature

  • Awww, why didn't you stand next to it for some scale?

  • What part of California is this? Northen or central or southern?

  • @asst5 near San Ramon, CA. Near the bay area. I guess northern ca. Look up San Ramon on google maps.

  • Impressive!

  • You should have killed that sucker!

  • @baxterdylan11 imagine that you're a moron !!

  • Nice footage, that is one big rattler.

  • they are so amasing i have seen one at plasarita canyon and on the beach.what a great sight

  • They do have a certain grace, don't they?

  • Looks like he just had a full meal!

  • i hate you! thats exactly how im squirming right now!! On the flip side that was amazing footage, Thank you for sharing!
